Being a girl can be a struggle.  If you’re like me, you were born with thick, dark eyebrows that you have to keep up with!  I always find myself plucking, trimming, and waxing my brows more often than I should.  But I just recently learned about some waxing do’s and don’ts that should assure me the best wax possible! 🙂

  • DO get them done by someone you trust. Chelsea Crockett - Eyebrow ShapeYour eyebrows are seen by everyone, so you want them to look the best they can!  I like to go to nail or hair salons that have been recommended to me by a friend.  This way I can trust that the same person will hopefully do just as good of a job on my own brows!
  • DO know your eyebrow shape. Especially if you wax them yourself, you need to know which shape is best for your brows. You’ll want to know what frames your face the best!  Everyone is different so know what you’re going for! 🙂
  • DON’T wax them too frequently. Although waxing every once in a while won’t hurt your skin, too much of anything can be harmful! Waxing should keep the hair around your eyebrows away for a good amount of time.  That being said, simply wax them when you’re starting to see hair grow back, not every few days!
  • DON’T wax your eyebrows too close to a big event. Regardless of how many times you’ve done it before, you never know how your skin will react. Give your skin a few days to heal before your event!

Have any other tips for me to add to my list?  I can use all the help I can get!

Break-ups can be both the best and worst thing in the world.  Depending on who you are and/or who you are dating, break-ups can either be freeing and relieving or heartbreaking and miserable.  Either way, I have a few helpful do’s and don’ts that I think I could offer!

  • DO be respectful.  Make sure you are always considering their feelings and their side of the story.  Try to put yourself in their shoes and know it can be just as hard on them as it is for you.
  • DON’T forget your worth.  Oftentimes, it can be easy to forget your worth and make excuses for the other person, especially when you’re going through a rough patch.  Know what you deserve and don’t settle for anything less!
  • DO put yourself first.  There’s a huge difference between being selfish and putting yourself first.  It’s okay to consider your own feelings and to value what you need out of a relationship over your boyfriend.  At the end of the day, you have to look out for yourself!
  • DON’T forget what you learned.  You can learn so much through dating and breaking up.  It teaches you valuable lessons that you can use the next time you date someone.  You can observe what worked, what didn’t work, and what traits you’re looking for in the next person you date!

I hope this helps you out next time you go through a break up, which I hope isn’t any time soon for you!

Coachella: one of the world’s largest music festivals in the history of EVER!  I was lucky enough to get to go and experience it myself last year and lemme tell ya… it was incredible!  Since I was a first-timer, I learned some things that I would and wouldn’t do again.  Here are a few Coachella do’s and don’ts!

DO’S

  • Do drink plenty of water!  Since you’ll be in the middle of a 100-degree weather desert, you’re going to get very hot, very fast.  Staying hydrated will keep you refreshed and happy!
  • Do keep your phone plenty charged.  If you ever do get separated from your friends, you’ll need to be able to find them!  You’ll also be taking plenty of pics and videos… I mean, it is Coachella!
  • Do stay well rested and well fed.  You’ll enjoy Coachella 10x more if you have a full stomach and plenty of sleep!

DON’TS

  • Don’t get lost from your friends. Chelsea Crockett - Coachella Outfit In a festival filled with thousands and thousands of people, it’s easy to get separated from your group.  That being said, it can be extremely hard to find them again, especially if your phone service isn’t the greatest.  Stay close to them or have a buddy system!
  • Don’t dress uncomfortably.  Now I know Coachella is known for the stylish festival outfits, but you can be both cute and comfy such as the picture on the right!  You’ll be outside in the sun and walking around all day so dress accordingly (especially with the right shoes!).
  • Don’t last-minute plan.  It’s one of the biggest, and not to mention most crowded, festivals of the year… PLAN AHEAD!

Coachella will be one of the best experiences of your life, hands down!  Have fun and take these do’s and don’ts into consideration!

Eye makeup is one of my favorite things to experiment with.  You can do so many different color combinations and looks!  Looking back at my old videos and pictures, I’ve definitely gotten better at knowing how to do my eye makeup the best way to compliment the rest of my makeup.  Here are some eye makeup do’s and don’ts that I wish I would’ve known when I first started wearing makeup!

  • DO blend your eye shadow. Chelsea Crockett - Eye Makeup This will make it look much more natural and a lot less choppy.  If you get the right brush, blending is super easy!
  • DON’T add too much highlighter to your face.  This is important especially if your eye makeup is dark.  You want to make sure your makeup is all balanced out!
  • DO copy a look that you like.  If you see a celeb’s makeup that you love, it’s much easier to create a look on yourself when you have something to go off of.
  • DON’T go crazy on the eyeliner.  There are so many other ways to make your eyes pop.  You don’t have to rely heavily on your eyeliner to do so!  The occasional cat-eye is always good, but find other ways that accent and darken your eyes.
  • DO find the colors that compliment you.  If you’re blonde haired and blue eyed, it might not be the best idea to go with dark colors like black and grey.  Use soft browns and natural colors to make your eyes pop but not be too overboard!

I hope these help you master your eye makeup skills!

Nail care seems pretty simple: clip them, file them, paint them.  It’s as simple as that!  But is it actually that easy?  I never knew that there were certain do’s and don’ts that can make your nail care routine 10x better!  Here are some tips to follow and things to avoid when taking care of your nails.

DO’S

  • Create your own nail care routine.  Chelsea Crockett - Nail Care RoutineHaving a nail care routine down is important for maintaining your nails’ health.  Don’t let them grow weeks on end without trimming them up!
  • Moisturize your cuticle area.  Your cuticle area can get very dry and sometimes even painful.  Moisturize the area so you prevent flaky skin and redness.
  • Keep your nail tools clean!  Nail tools can get dirty just like any other beauty tool.  Make sure you keep them sterilized and free from bacteria!
  • Take nail strengthening supplements.  There are supplements for almost everything: hair, skin, nails, you name it!  Nail strengthening supplements help make your nails thicker and healthier!

DON’TS

  • Don’t bite your nails!  This one is a given.  Biting your nails isn’t only a bad habit, but it weakens and destroys them!
  • Don’t soak your nails for too long or use an excess amount of nail polish remover.  I know it’s frustrating when you can’t get off that stubborn nail polish that you’ve been scrubbing at for 20 minutes, but using too much nail polish remover will dry out your nails!
  • Don’t pull/rip off hangnails.  It’s extremely tempting to rip off any annoying hangnails especially when you don’t have any tools to help.  But when you can, I highly suggest using nail clippers to remove them instead of constantly picking at it!

I hope these pointers help you take your nail care routine to the next level! 🙂

Love, Chels

Long distance dating can be tough.  Being in a relationship can be hard enough as it is, but adding distance into the equation can make it ten times harder!  There are certain things you and your boyfriend/girlfriend can do and not do to make your long-distance relationship easier and all around better!

  • DON’T feel the need to talk or text 24/7.  I get it, you miss one another, but being across the country from each other doesn’t mean you need to keep tabs on him/her all the time.  Long-distance relationships need a lot of trust and this helps build that!  Chelsea Crockett - Long Distance Dating
  • DO make an effort.  The worst feeling is when you feel like you’re putting in more than you’re getting out.  Make sure you’re both making an equal amount of effort!
  • DO keep a positive attitude.  Positivity is everything!  If you really want it to work, don’t doubt and complain about your situation.  Think about the good!
  • DON’T ignore your problems.  Just because you can’t talk in person doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring up problems or issues.  It’s important to keep a healthy and open relationship whether it’s face-to-face or not.
  • DO give each other reassurance.  Reassurance is so important when you’re dating someone far away from you.  Knowing that each other is 100% invested and willing to make the relationship work will help through the good and bad times.

If you’re in a long-distance relationship, share with me some tips below on how you make it work!

Especially around the holiday season, everyone wants that special person to spend Christmas time with!  If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend this year, then you’ll most likely be buying each other Christmas presents.  There are certain things to consider when picking out that perfect gift for your boyfriend or girlfriend to make sure this year is the best Christmas yet!

  • DO get him something meaningful.  Chelsea Crockett - Christmas PresentsPut some thought into it!  Boys like meaningful gifts too whether they admit it or not.
  • DON’T just give him money or a gift card.  Like I said, put some thought into it!  Although money and gift cards are nice, he’ll probably be getting some from relatives anyways.
  • DO ask his friends and family for advice.  Nothing’s wrong with asking for a little help!  They might know about what he likes or what size he wears more than you do, so shoot them a text and ask!
  • DO ask each other for a budget.  I don’t mean you have to have an exact spending amount set, but at least try to get an idea of how much to spend.
  • DON’T overthink it.  Boys will usually be happy with whatever you get them as long as you know what they like and don’t like.  Don’t stress about it!

I hope you’re all getting into the Christmas spirit!

College orientation is a good place to meet people and get prepared for your first year as a college student. Along with a lot of you, I just graduated high school, so orientation is coming up! There are certain things you must do during orientation. That being said, there are also things you must avoid, as well!

DO’S

  • Dress appropriately for the occasion! You will be meeting a lot of other students and even counselors of your new school.
  • Be social! Depending on where you go to college, there’s a big chance of you not knowing many people. Be talkative and engage in conversation. Everyone else there is trying to make friends just like you!
  • Ask questions. It’s hard to know what to expect when you leave for college. Orientation is supposed to answer some of those questions! Be curious and attentive in the seminars, meetings, etc.Chelsea Crockett - College Orientation

DON’TS

  • Don’t forget to bring all of your orientation essentials (especially if it’s overnight). Pack the right clothes along with everything the school requires. You may need to fill out forms or packets before arriving!
  • Don’t go unprepared. There are tons of things you’ll need to consider before orientation: which classes you want to take, how many credit hours of classes you want, etc. Have an idea in your head of what you want your schedule to look like!

I hope you have a successful college orientation :)!

Dying your hair encompasses many pros and cons.  Although a fresh new look comes with switching up your color, some disadvantages included in dying can outweigh the benefits. I’m here to tell you the do’s and don’ts of hair dying to help decrease any mishaps!

DON’TS

  • DON’T dye your hair too frequently.  This causes your hair to dry out and eventually become brittle.
  • DON’T go too dark or too light. Take your skin tone into consideration. What will compliment you best?
  • DON’T impulse dye your hair. If we’re talking permanent dying, think long and hard on what color you’ll be stuck with. If worst comes to worst, you can always dye it back quickly, but that can dry out your hair tremendously!

DO’S

  • DO know your products. If you’re dying your hair yourself, read up on reviews of the product you’re using.
  • DO know what you’re doing. Too many times can dying your hair yourself go very wrong. Make sure you read instructions and have some extra help!
  • DO take into consideration that the dye could irritate your skin. Sometimes the dye can affect your scalp or surrounding skin. Be careful with what products you choose!

Hopefully these tips can help you decide: to dye or not to dye?

Fashion trends are constantly coming and going. For a month straight you’ll see everyone wearing the same style of top or shoes or pants, and then eventually no one is wearing them anymore!  When you love a fashion trend so much, it can be deadly to your bank account, since your purchasing clothes that will soon go out of style.  It’s time to break down the major Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to fashion trends. Chelsea Crockett- peplum top trend

  • DO invest in a few key pieces from that trend. DON’T invest all your money into buying every item of clothing from a specific trend. Soon enough that style will no longer be fashionable.
  • DO understand what looks good and what doesn’t look good on your body shape. DON’T purchase something trendy if it doesn’t suit your body correctly.
  • DO check out the different trends in each season and give them a try. DON’T obsess over being the trendiest person in the room.

Fashion trends can be fun to keep up on! The fashion world is forever changing and keeps us guessing.  Any idea what the next biggest trend may be??

Social media is both a blessing and a curse. Once something you put online is out there, you can’t take it back! With how often us teenagers log on to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc., we need to learn the ropes for what NOT to do on social media. Here a little guide I like to live by:

  • Don’t start an argument! We’ve all seen those Twitter fights that we know the person will regret later. Don’t try to “subtweet” anyone just to push their buttons. Be the bigger person!
  • Don’t be inappropriate/offensive. Ever hear the saying “think before you speak?” Well… you should think before you tweet too! First of all, don’t say or do anything you wouldn’t say in person. You might think you can get away with posting something inappropriate, but chances are, your teacher/coach/parent will see it. It’s definitely not worth it!Chelsea Crockett - Facebook Don't Like
  • Don’t deal with relationships online. I’ve seen breakups happen and escalate for everyone to read on their feeds. Keep that private! Chances are you’re just making the relationship worse. The best way to solve your problems is face-to-face!
  • Don’t be afraid to be yourself! One of the coolest things about social media sites is the freedom to express yourself. If you’re into photography, Instagram’s for you! Maybe you write poetry and want to tweet it for others to relate? Don’t hold back if you want to show your creativity :)!
  • Don’t associate with people you don’t know. This has been told to us ever since we could first use a computer. Stranger danger is actually a thing! Be careful!

Although there are many things to think about when logging into your account, the main thing is to make sure you’re having fun. Don’t overthink it :)!

Good luck! – Chels
