Christmas is creeping up on us faster than we know it… and I’m so excited!  Around Christmas time, my friends and I always do secret Santa gift exchanges.  It can be hard coming up with different things to get each year, so I wanted to tell you about the idea I’ll be using for my upcoming gift exchanges!

For me, I can never have too much makeup.  Who doesn’t love trying out new brands and products?  For your kit, you’ll need at least three different products, depending on how much you want to spend.  Chelsea Crockett - Makeup KitYou’ll at least need a lipstick, some type of skin product, and an eye product.  Since most people already have a certain foundation they like to use, pick out a highlighter, blush, etc.  As for eyes, purchase a mascara or eye shadow to add to their kit.

Now that you know what to put in your DIY makeup kit, here are a few of my favorites that are inexpensive yet good quality!  For a lipstick, try Tarte’s Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick.  There are 24 different shades to choose from!  As for a highlighter, you can buy Urban Decay’s Mini Naked Illuminated Powder for only $12 from Sephora.  Since the other two products are a little pricy, add your favorite drugstore mascara to complete the kit!

Are you going to try out this idea this year?  Let me know what products you fill your kit with! 🙂

If you’ve ever gone hunting for a good foundation, you’ve probably came across a few foundations that are known for their velvet feel and appearance!  Maybelline, NARS, and many other brands have created the perfect, velvet foundation that leaves your skin looking flawless.  Here’s all you need to know about velvet foundations and which products work best!

As far as Maybelline, their Dream Velvet Foundation ($10.99) is one of their softest foundations yet.  It has a perfect matte finish and hydrates your skin at the same time.  With this foundation, you won’t have to worry about lines or patches forming after applying it.  Chelsea Crockett - Velvet FoundationsNot only does it look soft and smooth, but feels just as good!  It’s fresh, light, and free from roughness.  They even made a specific brush called the Dream Blender ($5.99) that guarantees full, even coverage for the Dream Velvet Foundation.

What’s better than a velvet, matte, and sun-protecting foundation all in one?  NARS Cosmetics has a foundation called Velvet Matte Skin Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 30 that protects your skin and makes it look flawless!  It may be a little pricier than Maybelline’s product, but it’s only $45 which still isn’t too bad for a good quality foundation.

Are you going to try out one of these products or do you use one currently?  Let me know what you think of them in the comments below!

Drugstore makeup is one of the most wonderful things.  You can shop some of the best brands and products for an extremely low price!  High-end contour palettes can range anywhere from $50 to $100 and, if you’re thinking what I’m thinking, that’s pretty expensive, especially when you can buy a similar palette for $5-$20!  Here are 3 of my favorite drugstore palettes!

  • Covergirl’s TruBlend Contour Palette ($12).  Chelsea Crockett - Covergirl Contour PaletteAlthough this palette is super simple, it works so well!  This palette comes in three different shades, light, medium, and dark, so you can find the perfect one for your skin tone.  The color of each powder is extremely natural so they blend together for a smooth, professional look.
  • Rimmel Kate Sculpting Cosmetic Set ($6).  If you want a sharper contour as well as highlighter and blush, then this palette is for you!  It’s easy to take with you on-the-go and has the whole package for a flawless makeup look.  Did I mention it’s only six dollars?
  • E.L.F. Contour Palette ($6).  This palette gives you four shades instead of three!  Each color is a cream and powder formula so it applies beautifully onto the skin and blends just as well.  Once again, it’s only six bucks!

Have you tried any of these products yourself?  Let me know what you think below!

Drugstore makeup doesn’t get enough credit for its quality.  Some of my all-time favorite makeup products come from stores like Walgreens, Target, etc.!  In 2016, there were some drugstore products that sold like crazy.  Here are the top 10 from last year!

  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish ($5).  This stuff is a lifesaver!  Instead of waiting half an hour for your nail polish to dry, this polish dries 10x faster!
  • E.l.f. Poreless Face Primer ($6).  Chelsea Crockett - Wet N Wild LipstickE.l.f. is one of the most affordable brands out there.  Their Poreless Face Primer should be your go-to primer if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck!
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($6).  If you’ve never tried out NYX’s matte products, I highly urge you to do so!  They’re my favorite brand to go to when I want the longest lasting and highest quality matte lips.
  • Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick ($1).  For only ONE dollar, this lipstick comes in lots of different shades with good quality, too!  The picture above shows only six of the several colors to choose from.  What’s a better steal than that?
  • Oil Absorbing Sheets ($5).  These sheets are great for all skin types whether you have oily skin or not.  You can use them to blot away excess oil or shine before or after you apply your makeup.

If you like any of these products, let me know which is your favorite.  And if you haven’t tried them, give them a try in in 2017!

The Look for Less: Makeup Edition

We all know the look for less, when you find an outfit from a celebrity or simply a look that’s out of your price range and find a cheaper ensemble…

We all know the look for less, when you find an outfit from a celebrity or simply a look that’s out of your price range and find a cheaper ensemble that’s almost identical. I had an idea to do the same thing but with makeup! There are so many drugstore products that give you the same result as higher end products. Chelsea Crockett - NYX Lip CremeWho doesn’t love a good steal?

For lip sticks, most higher end brands have the same long-wearing quality as drugstore products. For example, Maybelline has amazing lip products that give the perfect color to your lips. If you like buying makeup at Target, check out the NYX products they offer! Their soft matte lip cream is my favorite lip product, and it’s only $5.99!

Eye products are another category that you can find much cheaper products with just as good of quality. Maybelline mascara is always my go-to when it comes to my lashes. It’s inexpensive but gives off the same effect as a high-end branded mascara from Ulta or Sephora. Eyeshadow can also be a steal! Wet n’ Wild offers $0.99 individual eyeshadows in a variety of different colors. Check them out!

Apart from actual makeup, tools such as brushes, eyebrow combs, etc. can be found for super cheap at drugstores. The brand e.l.f. sells a variety of brushes for only $0.99! You can’t get much better than that.

I hope this helped you save a little bit of money next time you go makeup shopping :)!

Although shopping at Ulta and Sephora is great when buying quality makeup, it can get pretty pricey! Over the hundreds of brands at popular cosmetics stores, the totals can start to add up! What a lot of people don’t know is that you can find high-quality products for a much cheaper price at local drugstores. Sometimes those are all I use! Here are my fave ten you can check out too!

  1. Maybelline Liquid Eyeliner. I use this on the daily! Eyeliner can be tough to apply, but this product slides on without a problem. It makes applying eyeliner easy.
  2. Maybelline Mascara. Maybelline sells a wide variety of mascaras and I’ve tried almost all of them. They’re even better than most of the high-brand mascaras I’ve had in the past!
  3. NYX Lip Cream. I’ve always been big on lip products. These not only apply beautifully but they’re long-lasting, too!
  4. E.L.F. HD Powder. The name of this product speaks for itself. It’s great at covering any acne or breakouts on your face.Chelsea Crockett - L'Oreal Lipsticks
  5. E.L.F. Makeup Brushes. E.L.F. brand has some of the cheapest makeup I know, but their quality is great. I don’t know how they do it! A lot of their brushes are around only a dollar.
  6. L’Oréal Lipsticks. These lipsticks are long-lasting, colorful, and not to forget inexpensive!
  7. Revlon Illuminators. If you need a killer illuminator, Revlon sells them for only $10 or less.
  8. L’Oréal Setting Spray. Makeup artists swear by this. Check it out!
  9. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes. These are a life-saver! They’re perfect for those nights you don’t feel like washing your face.
  10. L’Oréal Liquid Concealer. This concealer works 10x better than some of the expensive brands I’ve tried before. Try it for yourself!

Most of these can be found at Walgreens, Target, etc. Give them a try and let me know what you think!
