If you’re going off to college, especially at a big school, then I’m sure you’ve heard all the hype about sorority rush.  I questioned it at first, until I heard all of the awesome experiences my friends had within their sorority.  I thought I’d tell you some of the great things you can get out of a sorority if you give it a chance!

  • You meet your best friends.  Chelsea Crockett - Sorority PictureWhether you’re at a big school or a small school, you’re going to meet some people regardless.  You will be spending a lot of time with these girls, and you’ll get so close to them over your four years!
  • You can get more involved.  Most sororities have an executive board that you can serve on to make a difference in your chapter.  You can be president of your whole sorority or something less intense like a chair position!
  • You get to have social events.  Formals, exchanges, date parties, BBQs, you name it!  There are so many fun events throughout each semester for you to meet people, dress up, and have fun!
  • You’ll get more out of your comfort zone.  Going to college as it is will make you more outgoing, but joining a sorority will make you meet new people and help shape you as a whole!
  • You get to volunteer for amazing causes.  Most, if not all, sororities have a certain philanthropy they support and raise money for.  There are so many ways to volunteer throughout your chapter to support these causes!

So what do you think?  Are you going to give it a try?  A lot of my friends have and they say it’s one of their greatest decisions ever!

XO – Chelsea

Unique Ways to Spend Your Father’s Day

When Mother’s Day was just around the corner, I wrote a blog post about different, unique ways you could spend that special day with your mom!  But since we’re finally in the month of Father’s Day, I thought I’d come up with a few ideas that are more centered around dads but still fun for your whole family!

  • If your dad is the typical dad that’s always down to golf, take him golfing for the day!  Chelsea Crockett - Baseball GameYou can go play a full round or even just hit up the driving range for a couple hours.  If you’re not a golfer, maybe even try taking him mini golfing.  It’s a great way to bond over something he likes to do!
  • Instead of going out to eat to celebrate, offer to help your dad grill a big dinner for your whole family!  That way, you can learn how to grill and spend time with your dad at the same time.  Sometimes just offering a helping hand can make his day!
  • Sit your dad down a week or so before Father’s Day and ask him what his ideal day would be, then make it happen!  Maybe he wants to go to a baseball game or fishing on the lake.  Whatever it is, make it happen since it’s his special day!
  • Bring out the little kid in him!  He may not say it, but it might just make his day to go camping, go-karting, etc.  Get out and be adventurous!

Which idea are you going to treat your dad to this year?  Share with me in the comments below!  Maybe my dad and I are doing the same!

Happy Father’s Day! – Chelsea

5 Things I Wish I Knew as a Senior About to Graduate

Well this is it… You’re finally at the home stretch.  As a freshman in high school, I never thought I would’ve actually made it to senior year with only a couple months till the next chapter of my life.  It’s both scary and exciting, but I assure you, there are bigger and better things right around the corner!  I wanted to share with you a few things I wish I would’ve known as a senior about to leave high school for good.

  • Hang out with your family more than you normally do. Chelsea Crockett - High School If you’re planning on going away to college, soak up all the family time you can get.  Ask your mom to go shopping with you or take your little sister out to lunch!
  • Appreciate your teachers, whether you want to or not.  They got you to where you are today!  Don’t hesitate to thank them by shooting them a heartfelt email.
  • Don’t let senioritis take its toll.  Senioritis is real, lemme tell ya, but I urge you to stay on top of your grades and make your last couple of months count!
  • Go to every sports game.  Participate in every student section.  Some of my best high school memories happened while I cheered on my school’s team with all of my best friends.
  • Don’t put your life on hold because of homework and studying.  With only a couple months of high school left, keep good grades but don’t miss out on life because of school.  Go to dinner with your friends or go for a night drive in the middle of the week with your boyfriend!  Make all the memories you can!

Make the most out of however long you have left in high school!

Love, Chelsea
