We all have a favorite eyeshadow shade. You know, that one that always seems to run out, while all the other colors in the palette are only slightly used. I got tired of having all sorts of eyeshadow palettes sitting around that were only slightly used, because all I was using was shades I knew and trusted! If you want to know how to wear the un-used, possibly obscure colors in your palettes, read on!

  1. Pink: Pink may seem like an awkward color for eyeshadow, and may give you “Barbie” vibes, but don’t let that stop you from using it! Gently dust some onto your eyelids, especially if it is a shimmery, light color! Bring the color across your lid down to the corner of the eye, and subdue it with other shadow shades like nude and champagne to tone it down.how-to-use-the-abandoned-colors-in-your-go-to-eye-shadow-palette-1656478-1455328442.640x0c
  2. Blue: This is a color that makes a stunning smoky eye, actually. Especially if it is slightly metallic! If a smoky eye isn’t your thing, use a small brush to run a thin line of shadow along your lower lash line for a pop of color.
  3. Purple: If you are unsure on how to wear that purple eyeshadow in your drawer, try the technique that I mentioned above in blue. Line your bottom lash line with the purple for a subtle color pop. You can even make a cat eye look with it!
  4. Black: Black can be an intimidating shade. Too much and you can start to look moody and dark! For a subtle look, use a fluffy powder shadow brush to dust a V shape along the outer corner of your eyes and halfway to the eye bone. This creates great definition.

Don’t let those abandoned eyeshadow colors go to waste! Get creative with them! You may find a new favorite shade in the process.

Contouring is the biggest fad in the makeup industry right now!  Basically, it’s highlighting and bronzing key parts of your face to either make them stand out or be covered up.  It’s a great way to make your face look flawless.  While contouring can make you look radiant, knowing how to do it is key.  It can look quite “clown-like” if done incorrectly.  Check out how to contour the most important features of your face! Chelsea Crockett- contouring cheek bones

What you’ll need:

Contouring palette (light and dark)

Light eye shadow

Beauty Blender

Nose: For the effect of a slimmed down nose, place the dark color along the outside bridges of your nose and the light color along the top.

Cheek bones:   For the look of super-model high cheek bones, suck in your cheeks and apply the dark color into the sunken in area.  Add the lighter color to the cheek bones themselves.

Eyes:  To make your eyes pop, apply a light, shimmery eye shadow to the entire lid and the dark color along the bone above the lid.

The most important part of contouring comes last: blending.  When applying the light and dark colors, just put a stripe across each area.  Then, blend both colors together so no lines are visible.  The result?  A picture perfect face!

Enjoy experimenting with makeup!

It’s easy to throw on makeup and run out the door. We’ve all done it; but have you ever looked in the mirror afterwards and seen the damage you did?! I know I’m guilty! There are so many little details we don’t think about when putting on eye make, but they’re VERY important. Keep on reading to find out the most common eye makeup mistakes, so you can stop doing them today!

Chelsea Crockett- eye highlighter

Before you begin your makeup process, priming your eye lid is SO important! Throughout the day, our shadow can start to bunch up in the creases of our eye lids. By priming your eyelid, your shadow will stay in place! Once that step is complete, it’s time to pick your shadow color. Less is more, people!!! During the day, stick to nude colors. Too many people over do their daytime eye makeup, which can look very off. Also, make sure to blend! You don’t want it to look like you put a line of color on your eye. Incorporate a little blending of the eye shadow with your upper eyeliner as well. When it comes to your water line, only apply liner to the outer corners. By putting a harsh line under your entire eye, you’re creating the illusion that your eye is smaller. No one wants that! Last, but not least, highlight! While this step might seem small, it plays a very big role! Dusting a beige or champagne highlighter in the inner corner of your eyes brightens your entire look, ties everything in, and makes your eyes whiter and bigger.

Next time you’re applying makeup, think about some of these mistakes! Are you committing a makeup crime?!

Some may think the secret to flawless makeup is an expensive, personal makeup artist.  Actually, the secret to flawless makeup is matte based products!  Matte foundation almost eliminates pores and leaves your skin looking smooth.  Lipstick, blush, and eye shadow also come in matte formats and have the same effect as matte foundation.  Check out how you can wear, and pull off, matte makeup the right way!Chelsea Crockett- matte makeup

Unlike typical foundation, matte foundation is best applied using a damp sponge.  This helps evenly distribute the foundation, especially around the nose and chin area. The secret to wearing matte makeup is to either wear it on your eyes and lips or on your face, NOT both.  In order to make the look more modern, try pairing a matte foundation with a shimmery eye and lip gloss.  Likewise, use a powder or liquid foundation if you’re feeling matte lipstick.

Matte makeup is making a comeback from the old Hollywood glamour days!  Give it a try and comment below which matte products are your favorites!

When you hear of glitter makeup, the first things that may pop into your head are Halloween and Ke$ha. If applied wrong, it can look too over the top and even cheesy; but there is a proper way to rock glitter makeup and it actually looks beautiful!  Check out how to get your glitter on…the right way!Chelsea Crockett- glitter eyeliner

Applying glitter to the eyes is one of the few acceptable places for a classy look. Also, only use neutral colors like brown, black, tan, silver, gold or white.  One of my favorite glitter products is gel/liquid glitter eyeliner.  Apply eye shadow and mascara as you normally would.  Then, thinly line your upper lid with the liquid glitter eyeliner.  If you typically wear black eyeliner, then try a black or brown glitter liner.  If you don’t usually wear eyeliner, then try tan or gold for a lighter look.  Line your bottom lashes with normal eyeliner.

Glitter eye shadow is also one of my favorite beauty products. Urban Decay has come out with a line called Moondust that is the perfect balance between color and glitter.  It is applied just like normal eye shadow, but has an extra shine to it.  Glitter is a great way to bring out your eyes for a special occasion!  Have fun with it!

Chelsea

  • Do you love lipstick, but get nervous about getting it on your teeth? No problem! After applying your lipstick, stick your index finger in your mouth, wrap your lips around it, and slowly pull out your finger. This wipes the lipstick off from the inside out leaving it away from your teeth.
  • If you have an eye shadow that you love, but it’s too light or doesn’t stay on very well, try priming your eyelid with white eyeliner first. This creates a base for the eye shadow that makes it more vibrant and stays on longer!
  • Did you run out of your gel liner and are stuck with that gross pencil liner? Don’t worry! If you’ve got a lighter, then you’re in good shape. Just hold the tip of the pencil in the flame of the lighter for 15 seconds and let cool for another 15 seconds. The pencil will melt down and turn into a gel!

Hi Girls,

The holidays are one of my favorite times to dress up and look my best!  It’s the perfect time to throw on a new outfit, curl my hair, and go all out with my makeup.  So what type of makeup look should you go for?  I’ve got two makeup looks that will go with any holiday outfit!

My first holiday look reminds me of the cold winter weather and snow!  I love to wear deep blues, purples, and silver during the winter months.  Start by doing your foundation as you normally would.  Next, apply a light purple eye shadow to your eyelids adding a darker purple to the outer parts of your eyelids.  For added brightness, take a shimmery white or silver to your inner eye and along your bottom lashes.  This creates the illusion of brighter, sparkling eyes!  Complete your look with mascara and clear or nude lip gloss for an icy finish!Chelsea Crockett- red lipstick

The second holiday go-to makeup is a classic!  I love a red lip for the holidays!  Once again, apply your foundation as you normally would and add a hint of blush to your cheeks.  Next, go for a winged eye look for a classic twist.  Using liquid liner, start the line narrow, getting wider and wider as you go out.  Apply mascara and bold red lip stick and you’re good to go!  Have a wonderful holiday!
