Eyeliner is one of the most magical beauty products out there!  It can transform the shape of your eyes and make them pop with any makeup look.  With eyeliner, you can try a subtle straight line or a dramatic cat eye, whatever you prefer.  Here are three must-try black eyeliners!

Yves Saint Laurent offers a barely-there liquid liner that guarantees the thinnest and most subtle of lines. It’s a great product for that cat eye look you’ve always wanted to perfect, but not go too overboard with.  Although it’s a little pricier than your average drugstore eyeliners, you definitely get the quality you’re looking for!

A thick, dramatic liner can be used to switch up your look and try something a little different!  Maybelline offers just that. Their Eye Studio Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner applies a thick line that is sure to deliver the drama you’re looking for.  Why not try it out?  It’s only around $8.99 at your local drugstore!

Chelsea Crockett - Lorac Eyeliner

For the holidays, you may want to spruce up your look… especially for New Year’s Eve! Lorac’s Front of the Line Pro Eye Pencil in Charcoal applies dark silver lines and adds some sparkle to your look. You can wear it alone or with a combination of sheer metallic shadows.

Which eyeliner are you going to try out?  Tell me below!

I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for finding the best mascaras.  Whether I’m feeling a natural look for the day or want my lashes to look big and full, I always have to try a few mascaras before I fall in love with one.  Benefit’s “They’re Real” collection has a wide selection of products to give you the bold eyes you’re looking for!

  • They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara ($24). Chelsea Crockett - Benefit Products Drugstore mascara might be a lot cheaper but they’re not giving you the amazing quality this mascara does.  It lengthens, volumizes, and lifts your eyelashes to give you beautiful lashes all day long!
  • They’re Real! Gel Eyeliner Pen ($12).  If you like matte, waterproof products, then you’ll love this eyeliner pen!  It applies smoothly to your eyelid and is guaranteed to stay on for 24 hours.  It comes in 5 different colors so you can get creative with your makeup!
  • They’re Real! Tinted Primer ($12).  Primer makes a world of a difference.  This brown tinted primer will give you the base you need to apply the lengthening mascara I mentioned above.  These two products will give you your dream lashes!
  • They’re Real! Double the Lip ($20).  I’ve never seen a product like this that works so well!  The lipstick itself is shaped like a teardrop, with the tip being lip liner and the rest of it being lipstick.  So you get two products in one!

I hope you check out this collection!  I promise you, their products are some of the best out there!

Eye makeup is one of my favorite things to experiment with.  You can do so many different color combinations and looks!  Looking back at my old videos and pictures, I’ve definitely gotten better at knowing how to do my eye makeup the best way to compliment the rest of my makeup.  Here are some eye makeup do’s and don’ts that I wish I would’ve known when I first started wearing makeup!

  • DO blend your eye shadow. Chelsea Crockett - Eye Makeup This will make it look much more natural and a lot less choppy.  If you get the right brush, blending is super easy!
  • DON’T add too much highlighter to your face.  This is important especially if your eye makeup is dark.  You want to make sure your makeup is all balanced out!
  • DO copy a look that you like.  If you see a celeb’s makeup that you love, it’s much easier to create a look on yourself when you have something to go off of.
  • DON’T go crazy on the eyeliner.  There are so many other ways to make your eyes pop.  You don’t have to rely heavily on your eyeliner to do so!  The occasional cat-eye is always good, but find other ways that accent and darken your eyes.
  • DO find the colors that compliment you.  If you’re blonde haired and blue eyed, it might not be the best idea to go with dark colors like black and grey.  Use soft browns and natural colors to make your eyes pop but not be too overboard!

I hope these help you master your eye makeup skills!

I see so many beauty trends and products that make me stop and think “does that really work?”  Sometimes I branch out and give them a try and am very surprised with the results!  I picked a few different products to tell you about that surprisingly work and should be on your wish list!

  • Light Therapy Acne Mask.  Neutrogena recently released a light therapy acne mask that supposedly gets rid of acne and reduces inflammation.  I have one myself and was skeptical at first, but it really makes a difference!  It’s not only relaxing but super beneficial for your skin.
  • Peel Off Lip Stain.  Peel off lip stain really depends on which brand you try for it to be a success or not!  Some brands are messy and don’t really make a difference whereas others are long-lasting and easy to use.  Read the reviews before you buy!Chelsea Crockett - Lip Stain
  • Lip Tattoos.  As long as you use these right, they usually work!  You have to place them on your lips carefully and wait for the right amount of time.  Why not try them out for fun? 🙂
  • Eyeliner Stencils.  Makeup stencils are sometimes hit or miss when it comes to the quality of them.  I’ve used an eyeliner stencil before and they won’t give you the perfect wing most of the time, unless you master them!
  • Hair Straightening Brush.  Surprisingly, these work pretty well!  The only exception is if you have really curly hair.  Either way, these brushes are great for a quick straighten!

Which product do you want to try out?  Let me know below!

Knowing what products compliment your face best and how you should apply them can sometimes be a tricky task. Most girls don’t have time to sit and redo their makeup 5 times till they get it perfect (I’m one of those girls!). Luckily, brands have made it easier to correct your makeup mistakes. Here are three of my favorites!

  • Eyeliner Correcting Pen.Chelsea Crockett - Color Correctors If you have yet to master the art of eyeliner, this pen is soon to be your best friend. Wings are probably the hardest to achieve, and this pen lets you erase and clean up any unwanted lines or smudges! My favorite kind is Hard Candy’s Oopsy-Proof Liner (which you can pick up at Walmart!). E.l.f. also offers a Makeup Remover Pen which can work just as well!
  • Color Correcting Concealers. These products are so cool! If you’ve never used these before, they’re basically concealers in various colors that cancel out redness, breakouts, etc. and correct your skin! For example, you can use the green color correcting stick to neutralize any redness on your skin, perhaps from breakouts or an annoying pimple. If you’re a little skeptical, try them out for yourself! I’m obsessed!
  • Makeup Remover Pads. If you ever mess up on your contour, eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc., one swipe of a makeup remover pad and you can start the process over again!

I hope these products help you perfect your daily makeup routine!

We all know the struggle of trying to achieve the perfect winged liner. Honestly, it could take me hours to get those wings perfectly symmetrical. As with everything in life, practice makes perfect, so instead of “winging it” next time you try and swoop your liner, follow these helpful guidelines!

  1. Use a straight edge: Save yourself a ton of trouble by using a business card or piece of scotch tape as a straight edge. eyeliner3Line the edge up to the angle you want the wing to be. Trace along the edge with your liner, and bam, a straight line every time!
  2. Find the right kind: In order to get the perfect winged look, you need to find the liner that works best for you. Once you find your favorite liner, making the perfect wing is that much easier.
  3. Keep it steady: Having a steady hand is crucial when dealing with liquid liner. The easiest way to anchor your hand is to use your ring finger or pinky and rest the tip on your cheek bone while your fingers hold the liner.
  4. Trace, then line: The easiest way to map out your wing is to use your solid eyeliner pen to trace your lines, and then go over your lines with the liquid liner.

Now you are ready to kick your winged eyeliner game up a notch!

When you hear of glitter makeup, the first things that may pop into your head are Halloween and Ke$ha. If applied wrong, it can look too over the top and even cheesy; but there is a proper way to rock glitter makeup and it actually looks beautiful!  Check out how to get your glitter on…the right way!Chelsea Crockett- glitter eyeliner

Applying glitter to the eyes is one of the few acceptable places for a classy look. Also, only use neutral colors like brown, black, tan, silver, gold or white.  One of my favorite glitter products is gel/liquid glitter eyeliner.  Apply eye shadow and mascara as you normally would.  Then, thinly line your upper lid with the liquid glitter eyeliner.  If you typically wear black eyeliner, then try a black or brown glitter liner.  If you don’t usually wear eyeliner, then try tan or gold for a lighter look.  Line your bottom lashes with normal eyeliner.

Glitter eye shadow is also one of my favorite beauty products. Urban Decay has come out with a line called Moondust that is the perfect balance between color and glitter.  It is applied just like normal eye shadow, but has an extra shine to it.  Glitter is a great way to bring out your eyes for a special occasion!  Have fun with it!

When I think of eyeliner, I typically picture myself using it to line my upper and lower lid.  Eyeliner is the perfect way to bring out your eyes, but did you know it has tons of other uses as well?!  Check out all these tricky eyeliner hacks to make your next makeup application a breeze.Chelsea Crockett- eyeliner smokey eye

  • If you have trouble applying liquid eyeliner, especially for a winged look, start by outlining it in pencil and going over the line with liquid. Use the pencil as a source of direction.
  • If you have a light colored eye shadow that doesn’t show up well, start by priming your eye lid with white eyeliner and then putting the shadow over it.
  • For an instant eye lift, put a line of white eyeliner under and above your eyebrow and blend it in. This will highlight your brows creating an illusion that they are lifted.
  • If your pencil liner is crumbly, put it in the freezer for 10 minutes for it to regain its shape.
  • Get the perfect smoky eye by drawing a hashtag on the outer part of your eyelid and blending it in.
  • For a more flattering look, try switching to brown instead of black eyeliner. Black can often make your face look harsh and drain the color from your skin.
  • By dusting nude colored eye shadow above and below your eye, your eyeliner will set better, thus making it last longer.

It’s crazy all the things a small tube of eyeliner can do! I hope this helped!

Chelsea

Have you ever used white eyeliner? It can give you an instant eyelift! Most people think that white eyeliner is only used on the runway, but that isn’t the case anymore! Here are 3 every day uses for white liner:

1. To give yourself a brow lift: Glide the liner under your brow. Use a smudger or a clean bush to blend it downwards. This creates a visual eye-lift and defines your brow.

2. To open up your eyes: Glide the liner along the top lash line and smudge it out over the eyelid. This makes the eye look larger and the lashes lookwhite eyeliner longer and more dramatic! Work it!

3. If you’re feeling a bit drowsy: Glide the liner along the inner rim of your lower lash line to cancel out any redness. This reflects white into the eyes which creates a well-rested, fresh look.

Alphonse Wiebelt quoted “White eyeliner is an absolutely essential tool that every makeup artist has in their kit.” Do YOU have white liner in your collection? I suggest you add it to your Christmas list!

Using Liner to Change Your Eye Shape

Did you know that you can use eyeliner to totally change the shape of your eyes? It CAN be done! Let me explain:  If you’d like your eyes to look…

Did you know that you can use eyeliner to totally change the shape of your eyes? It CAN be done! Let me explain:

If you’d like your eyes to look closer together or if your eyes are wide-set: Add liner to the inner corner of your eyelids (eye #13).

If you’d like your eyes to look wider apart or if your eyes are close-set: Leave liner off of the inner corner or your eye, and be sure to line the outer upper lid. You may also line the lower outer lid if you want (eye # 12).

For a smokey or dramatic look: Line all the way around the eye. The thicker your liner, the smokier and more dramatic the look! You may also want to ‘smudge’ the line with your finger to keep it from looking too harsh. Something to keep in mind, though, is that this technique makes your eyes look the smallest, or the least “open”, so I wouldn’t use this technique if you feel your eyes are small. (eyes # 4,10,11)

To create the trendy “cat-eye” look: Line your eye as you normally would (upper lid, or both upper and lower), and then add a small swipe or ‘wing’ at the outer corner of the upper lid. This ‘wing’ may be as big and thick as you’d like, but generally for everyday wear, a smaller wing is fashionable and appropriate. (eyes #1,2,8)

Chelsea Crockett Eyeliner

To make your eyes look more open and bigger: Only line the top lid. If you want your eyes to look bigger, but still like wearing bottom-lid liner, try lining the outer half of the bottom lid. Another cheat or trick here would be to use a white or light-toned liner on your bottom lid. Lighter-shades have an ‘opening’ effect, while dark shades make them look smaller. (eye #9)

To summarize all that jazz: Darker, all-over liner is most dramatic, but makes your eyes look a bit smaller. Lining the top lid gives your eyes a big, open effect, but is a less dramatic, more natural look. And to change your eye shape, add liner to the outer or inner corner, depending on where you’d like to add depth or length to your eye shape.

Use these tips to switch up your look!

Putting on makeup seems easy, right?  Just throw on your favorite products and you’re good to go for the day.  Surprisingly, when it comes to makeup, there are a few “don’ts” that most girls aren’t aware of.

  1. DON’T curl your eyelashes after Chelsea Crockett - Applying Makeupyou apply mascara.  I sometimes get asked when to curl eyelashes, before or after you apply mascara?  Before, before, before!  If you wait till after, your lashes will get clumped and messy!  Curling them before allows you to solidify them by adding your mascara after. This leaves them looking just right!
  2. DON’T use eyeliner on your waterline.  If you do this, you probably noticed your eyeliner doesn’t last long.  It removes almost immediately.  Make sure you put it directly on the lid so it stays and leaves you with the look you wanted all along!
  3. DON’T sleep with makeup on.  Be sure to wash off all makeup before you catch some Z’s.  Your skin absolutely hates sticky makeup residue!
  4. DON’T forget to apply eye shadow first.  You don’t want to get caught trying to put your eye shadow on while trying not to smear your eyeliner and mascara!  By doing this, you can also see a better picture of how you want your eye shadow to look and how you want your colors to blend.
  5. DON’T over-do it when it comes to foundation and blush.  Try your hardest to evenly distribute your foundation on your face.  You want to avoid caking on your makeup.  This overlooks the natural and subtle look you’re aiming for.

Hi girls!  One of the most attention-catching parts of your face is your beautiful eyes.  From blue to brown to hazel, your eyes can always sparkle if you know the right colors and shades to use.

For the baby blues out there, use navy or grey shades of eyeliner to highlight your eyes.  Those colors allow your eyes to reflect off the eyeliner and show off the blue hue in your eyes.  As far as brown eyes go, try out dark brown or black eyeliner which will bring a fiercer feel to them.  Try to remember to outline the eyes but not to go to thick and dark with black eyeliner.  And of course I couldn’t forget about the green/hazel eyes.  For you, try light brown or green colored eyeliner.  This will bring out the brown or green in your sparkling hazel eyes.Chelsea Crockett - Eyes

To add an even more defined look, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler.  This will give them a little extra lift before adding on your favorite mascara.  Concealer is another product to use slightly below your eyes.  Getting rid of those dark circles will help others focus on your eye color and pop!  Hope this helps!

Hi Girls,

Perfecting your eye liner can be a tricky task!  Between choosing the type of eye liner, the right color, and the right thickness, getting your eye liner right the first time is tough.  One of my favorite eye liner looks is a winged look.  It’s an old school look with a 50’s flare that can be dressed up or down.  It really makes your eyes and eyelashes pop!  I will give you the step by step to creating the most beautiful winged eye liner look.Chelsea Crockett- NYX The Curve

Using a gel or liquid liner is the easiest to use, because it glides on smooth.  You’ll want to start with a fresh palette, so make sure there’s no makeup on your eyes!  Start by drawing your eye liner line from the outside in.  Begin at the end of your eyebrow, slowing moving towards the inner corners of your eye.  The end of your eyebrow is a good indication on how far out the “wing” should be.  Draw over this line multiple times until you get the thickness the way you like!  You can even draw over the wing part a few extra times for a more dramatic look.  Keep checking both eyes to make sure they are even.  Now, add you’re bottom eyeliner and eye shadow and you’re good to go!  I hope you enjoy this look as much as I do!

Love,

Hey Girls,

Do you ever have trouble applying eyeliner?  Even beauty gurus like I do!  It can be a tricky task.  Liquid eyeliner and pencil eyeliner may not seem too different, but they are!  Finding your perfect eyeliner can make all the difference.  It can make doing your eye makeup hassle free.  Educating Chelsea Crockett- liquid eyelineryourself on different types of makeup is very important.  I will give you all you need to know about these two different eye liners so you can find your perfect match!

Liquid eyeliner:  There are pros and cons to each type of liner.  Liquid liner lasts a lot longer than pencil eyeliner.  It is usually water proof and gives a more dramatic look.  It is great for days when you’ll be near water or for that “going out” look.  The downside to liquid liner is that it is harder to apply.  If your hand is shaky, it will show!  It just takes practice.  You also have to be careful not to apply too much.  Some people tend to overdo it with liquid liner.

Pencil eyeliner:  Pencil eyeliner is typically what most people use.  It creates more of an everyday look and never dries out.  It lasts much longer than liquid liner does.  If you find the right pencil, it will glide on easy.  Pencil liner is usually easier to apply.  Pencil liner does not create a very defined look and can smudge easy.  Rubbing your eyes is not an option!  Taking all of this into consideration, you should be able to find your perfect liner.  Do you like bold defined, and long lasting, or simple and casual?  Take your pick!Chelsea Crockett- pencil eyeliner
