With everything going on in our lives, from school to work and everything in between, being stylish every day can seem like a tall order. Do you ever look at your favorite bloggers on Instagram and think “How in the world do they look so stylish EVERY DAY?!” I found a few of their secrets on how to look put-together at all times.

  1. Plan things out: You, of course, can’t plan for everything, but just like you try and plan your schedule out at the beginning of the week, try to do that with your outfits. I plan my outfits out ahead so my mornings are stress-free.
  2. Follow stylish women: I follow 4 or 5 really awesome style bloggers (Julia Engel, Cara Loren, and Amber Fillerup being my top 3). I really love their style and use their Instagram photos as inspiration for my outfits. I also follow boutiques like MOD that show outfit pairing examples.
  3. Invest in outfit staples: These are the basic fashion pieces that are the foundations of fashionable choices. If you are going to buy an item that you know you will pair with a lot of things, make sure it fits right, and invest in things that you know will last and that won’t quickly go out of style.
  4. Accessorize always: Try to have at least one accessory on, whether it is a statement necklace or a cute pair of earrings. It can even be a piece of jewelry that you wear with everything. I have a necklace and some bangle bracelets that I wear almost every day. They are my “staples” and go with everything. They instantly make me more stylish.

If your goal is to be a stylish gal, then these secrets are for you! There are some days when I am stylish, and others when I feel like bumming it, and that is perfectly fine. Style is an individual thing, and everyone’s style is different! Embrace it and have fun with it.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.  I get to see all of my family, eat a delicious homemade meal, and celebrate Jesus’s resurrection!  Every year, I pick out a dress to wear to church and family get-togethers on Easter Sunday.Chelsea Crockett - Overalls  If you’re wondering what to wear, here’s a little guide on what’s “in” and what’s “out” this year!

Casual: If you’re going for a more casual look, then you have lots of options to choose from!  One look I’ve really been into lately is short overalls with a tee underneath.  Some overalls have a skirt instead of shorts which is a little dressier for the occasion!  Dress it up with jewelry and a casual pair of wedges or sandals.  You can also go with a casual patterned romper or a cute shirt and white pants.

Dressy:  If you’re planning on dressing up for Easter, which is what I normally do, sometimes less is more!  A simple pastel or white sundress can be dressed up with heels or wedges, accessories, and maybe a cute hat!  Focus on finding a dress that’s a pretty spring color such as light pink, white, or pastel purple!  You could even try out a fancy romper or a patterned two-piece set.

What are you thinking about wearing for Easter Sunday?  Let me know below!  Maybe I’ll get some ideas for myself. 🙂

Happy Easter! – Chelsea

I’ve noticed a new trend coming up through the ranks and I have to say, I love it! It is the new “bandanna choker” trend. It is retro, classic, and a great way to accessorize! Plus, bandannas are super inexpensive. Here are a few of my favorite ways this trend is being styled.

  1. Mixed patterns: This is a fun and unique way to wear the trend. Mix stripes and florals and mix colors with solids for a fun fashion statement.
  2. Trendy: This pairs two trendy looks – the off-the-shoulder trend and the choker trend! This photo is from the Instagram of one of my favorite local boutiques, MOD. I love the solid paired with the print. Such a fun look!
  3. Classic: This is the easiest and most simple way to wear the trend. Pair a solid blue, black, or white shirt with a red bandanna for a fun pop of color and retro flare.

Are you going to try this timeless trend?

Ahhhhh, denim… the endless trend.  There are so many different ways to rock it!  Although jeans have pretty much always been in style, there are other stylish ways to show off your denim.  Since it’s totally in style right now, here are five different ways you can put together a look to flaunt your fashion!

  • Retro Jean Jacket. Chelsea Crockett - Overalls Jean jackets are almost everywhere I look now!  They’ve totally made a comeback and I’m so glad they have.  They’re so cute and make for the perfect retro or grunge look.

  • Denim Skirt.  Denim skirts are so stylish and can match with almost anything.  You can dress them up with a nice shirt or dress them down with a casual sweater.
  • Jean Overalls.  The picture on the right shows just how cute short denim overalls can be.  Pair them with a simple tee and sneakers… so cute!
  • Denim Dress.  Spring is amongst us and jean dresses are perfect for the season!  Whether you’re going to church or on a date, you can rock one of these and make it as dressy as you please!

The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards were just the other day and you know what that means: a red carpet full of all the hottest trends and styles of the season!  Celebrities such as Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, and the members of Fifth Harmony all rocked the red carpet this year.  Here are a few noticeable trends that are some of the hottest looks this season!

  • Metallic.  Metallic is a trend that comes and goes in waves.  Chelsea Crockett - Demi LovatoWell the wave is in, and metallic is back in full swing!  The picture on the right shows singer Demi Lovato rocking a metallic dress, jacket, and shoes on the red carpet.
  • Jumpsuits.  Jumpsuits are super comfy and can be dressed up depending on the style of them.  Most of the jumpsuits on the red carpet were dressed up for the event, but you can find one that’s much more casual but just as stylish!
  • Neutral colors.  There wasn’t a lot of color to be seen on the carpet this year.  There were some pastels or dark tones here and there, but black, white, and other neutral colors made up the majority of the celebs’ looks!
  • Anything but dresses.  Wait, what?  I thought award shows called for the prettiest gowns and dresses?  Usually that’s the case, but this year most celebs rocked jumpsuits, rompers, or pants and a stylish shirt.

Which trend is your favorite?  Let me know below! 🙂

Walking in Heels 101

I am always amazed at women who can walk effortlessly in heels. Like, they just glide across the floor like they aren’t wearing 6 inch spikes on their feet. How do they do that?! With prom just around the corner for my high school friends, I see lots of high-heel-wearing in my friends futures, and I wear heels every once in a while, so I thought it would be good for all of us to take a crash course in how to walk in heels.

  1. Start small: 6 inch heels are not a beginners dose of heel! Start with something small and then work your way up. This is the key to learning how to walk in heels, start with something that is easy and it will become natural to you.
  2. Make sure the shoe fits perfectly: It is a million times easier to walk in heels when they actually fit. If they are too small, your toes get smushed every time you take a step, and if they are too big your heel slips out every time you lift your foot off of the ground. Both are not good! You could seriously injure your toes or twist your ankle. If your shoe fits but you are still having a tough time keeping it on, there are heel grips you can buy to help you out!
  3. Place your heel on the ground first: Heels force you to walk differently. When you wear heels, make sure you put your heel on the ground first before the pad of your foot, so walk heel to toe. Walking like you normally would, by just simply placing your whole foot flat on the ground, is uncomfortable and awkward in heels!
  4. Small steps: You need to take smaller steps when you wear heels. Walking your normal stride is not going to be easy in them, and it will probably feel a bit awkward. Take small, lady-like steps, don’t try to power walk, and practice in the mirror to see what looks best!
  5. Don’t push it: If walking in heels is painful for you, or if you just don’t like it, don’t do it! Don’t feel like you have to wear heels to look “like a lady”, if they hurt you or if they just aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other shoe types that look just as good!

Happy heel-wearing!

Repair Hacks to Make Your Shoes Look Good as New

When I love a certain pair of shoes, I hate seeing them get worn out day after day.  There’s always that one favorite pair that you have to say goodbye to after so many wears!  Since I want to get the most out of my shoes and definitely get my money’s worth, here are a few shoe repair hacks that will make your shoes look good as new!

  • Use toothpaste and a toothbrush to restore whiteness to your tennis shoes.  Don’t underestimate what a little toothpaste can do!  Scrub any parts of your shoe that need some shining.Chelsea Crockett - Shoe Hack
  • Cover any scratches with nail polish.  Whatever the color of your shoe may be, apply some nail polish to camouflage any noticeable marks and scratches.  Let it fully dry before wearing them!
  • If you have a pair of suede shoes, use a nail file to get rid of any stains or scratches.  I had never heard of this hack before, but it really works!  Lightly rub the nail file against the suede to eliminate any annoying stains or scratches.
  • Believe it or not, you can get rid of scratches on leather with a little moisturizer.  If you ever wear leather, then you know it can get beat up pretty easily!  Adding a dab of moisturizer will loosen up the leather and make any scratches disappear.

Try a hack or two out for yourself!  They really work!

When you outgrow your clothes, or simply get tired of them, there’s plenty of DIY options to give them another use!  Whether it be turning your old t-shirts into a quilt or an old sweater into a scarf, giving them new life is always a fun and creative craft to do when you have the time!  Here are 3 recycle DIYs for your old clothes and accessories. 🙂Chelsea Crockett - DIY Jeans

  • If you have an old pair of jeans that you don’t wear anymore, give them a makeover!  Styles of jeans change so often, so if you have a pair that are out of style, why not trim them up like the picture on the right?  All you have to do is take some chalk to mark the scallops in the right place (you can even use a small Dixie cup to get the right curves).  Then, make the cut!
  • If you have a plain old colored shirt or tank, try out reverse tie dye!  If you know how to tie die, it’s basically using bleach instead of colored dye.  Look up different styles you can make with where you put the rubber bands and go to town!
  • Maxi skirts have gone in and out of style over the past few years.  If you have one that you never wear anymore, you can cut it up to make it into a sundress or a swimsuit cover-up.  Depending on the material, try it out for yourself!

Have you ever tried one of these before?  Let me know below how yours turns out!

Whether it’s your first prom or your third, it never gets any less exciting!  I know I’m not the only one who loves shopping for the perfect prom dress.  Figuring out the right style, color, and all around look that I’m searching for can be tough, but once I find the right one, it’s worth it!  If you need a place to start, here are some pointers on which color dress would look best on you!

Chelsea Crockett - Prom DressIf you have dark skin, any pastel or bright shade will most likely look good!  Try colors on the warmer end of the spectrum such as pinks, yellows, purples, etc.  These will bring out the warmness in your skin tone and highlight your skin’s glow.

If you have tan/olive skin, focus on complimenting your undertones.  Olive skinned girls are lucky because almost any color will look good!  I suggest a deep green or red, maybe even a burgundy shade like the dress on the left.  Especially if you have dark hair, try one of these colors!  If you want to really highlight your skin tone, try a bright pink that will make you look extra tan!

For the fair skinned ladies out there, pay attention to the undertone of your skin, whether it’s warmer or cooler toned.  If you have naturally rosy cheeks and a warmer skin tone, try earthy shades.  These will look beautiful on you!  If you have cooler undertones, look into purples, pinks, and blues!

I hope this narrows down your search options so finding the perfect prom dress can be a little easier!

When it comes to dressing up nice, my shoes are usually my favorite part of my outfit to pick out, especially when I’m wearing a fun pair of heels or wedges!  Although I love rocking a simple pair of heels when I can, most of my pairs are pretty boring.  I found 3 different DIY ways you can give your heels a stylish makeover! 🙂Chelsea Crockett - Ribbon Heels

  • Use pretty ribbon that you can wrap around your ankle.  Depending on the color of your heels, pick a color that compliments them.  I suggest even using the same color ribbon as your heels to make it look more professionally done, instead of mix-match.  Since it’s hard to explain without showing you an example, you can go off the picture on the right.  Simply wrap it once around your heel, then around your ankle, and finish it off with a bow!
  • Glue on glitter on the bottom part of your heels.  Use a superglue paste to apply to the underneath of your heels and sprinkle on glitter until they’re completely covered.  Let them dry and then show em’ off!  Chelsea Crockett - Jewel Heels
  • As for thicker heels, superglue on various jewels and beads like the picture on the left.  If you purchase a super strong glue to assure that the jewels will stay put, then you shouldn’t have to worry about them falling off!  I suggest using different colors and shapes while still complimenting the original pair of heels.

Which DIY is your favorite?  Let me know below which one you are going to try out for yourself!

Making money is always nice, right?  Especially if all you have to do is get rid of some of your old clothes!  There are several different apps and organizations that are perfect for making a little cash off of clothes you don’t wear or need anymore.  If you’re interested, keep reading to find out how! 🙂Chelsea Crockett - Poshmark

  • Consignment Shops.  If you have nicer clothes and accessories that you never use anymore, such as designer or high-end brands, you can sell them to these shops for a pretty decent profit!  They’ll then resell it for a higher price, but at least you get a good amount of money back.
  • Plato’s Closet.  If you have tons and tons of clothes you want to get rid of instead of just a single item, you can take boxes full of clothes to Plato’s Closet and see what they’ll take off your hands.  Sometimes they’ll send back a lot of what you’re trying to drop off, but other times you’ll make a pretty good profit off of it.
  • Poshmark.  If you’re looking to both sell some items and purchase some for yourself, Poshmark is the app for you.  You can pick your selling price or even trade other sellers for items you’re interested in like the picture on the right.  You might as well check it out!

I hope this helps you declutter your closet and make some money at the same time!

Prom Prep: DIY Ways to Break-in Your Heels

Prom season is right around the corner and it’s never too early to start prepping for it.  Not only is it a priority to look good on prom night, but to be comfortable, too!  I’d say the most painful part of the prom process is wearing heels for hours during pictures, dinner, dancing, etc.  I found a few DIY ways to break-in your heels that’ll make wearing them all night a piece of cake!

  • If your heels are too tight, stretch them out using ice!  Fill up two freezer bags with water and seal them tightly.  Place the bags in your heels then put them in the freezer until the water freezes.  Then, take out your heels and let the ice thaw until you can slip out the bags.  Your heels should be much looser and comfier!Chelsea Crockett - Prom Heels
  • Speaking of making your heels more comfortable, using heat to stretch out the material is your best bet!  Take a blow dryer and blast your shoes with hot air, then bend and twist your shoes while they’re still warm to loosen them up!
  • One of the worst parts about wearing new shoes is the possibility of lots of blisters… Yikes!  As weird as this might sound, try rubbing deodorant on the places on your foot where you might blister.  This will provide a small barrier to prevent any rubbing!
  • When you get a new pair of heels, the bottoms of them will most likely be slippery.  Take sandpaper and rub the bottom of your shoes with it.  It’ll give them a little grip and friction!

Which DIY are you going to try out?  I hope it helps! 🙂

I love experimenting with different fashion statements and styles. I love styles with a southern flare, so naturally I am a fan of scalloped fashion. It has a sweet and feminine accent that can add a girly touch to even the simplest ensembles.

  1. Collared shirt: Button-up shirts with a scalloped collar are so sweet and versatile. You can wear them tucked in to a pair of jeans or a skirt, or you can even layer them under a cute sweater for a more dimensional look.
  2. Pea coat: The best way to showcase this trend is in outerwear! Layer a sweet scalloped pea coat over a simple ensemble for a cute winter outfit.
  3. Booties: I love scalloped booties because they are a really subtle way to rock the trend. They are sweet and feminine and add a cute touch to the simplest of outfits.

What is your favorite scalloped accessory?

Why You Should Always Change Your Clothes After the Gym

When I have time, I love to hit the gym and workout.  With that being said, I’d be lying if I said I never break a sweat when I exercise. …

When I have time, I love to hit the gym and workout.  With that being said, I’d be lying if I said I never break a sweat when I exercise.  You might not even be aware of what can happen to your body after going to the gym, but here are a few reasons why you should always change out of your clothes after a hard workout!

  • We all know how acne appears right?  When our pores get clogged, especially after a sweaty workout, acne starts to pop up around our body, not just face.  Leaving damp, dirty clothes on for long periods of time suffocates and clogs our pores!Chelsea Crockett - Exercise
  • Okay, this one might be the grossest.  Bacterial infections love to feed off of sweat.  When you leave on damp, sweaty clothing, you’re leaving little to no room for your skin to breathe.  This is the perfect opportunity for bacteria to grow!
  • When it comes to feet, we all know they can get pretty smelly at times.  If you’re someone that works out every day and leaves your socks and shoes on for hours at a time, they have no room to air out!
  • A lot of the time when we workout, we wear tight clothing such as leggings, sports bras, tanks, etc.  Just like acne, inflamed hair follicles can appear from suffocating your pores.  If you’ve ever had one before, you know how uncomfortable and painful they can be!

Crazy, right?  Well, now you know!  Make sure you’re always keeping your body clean and fresh!

One of my favorite parts of 2017 are all of the new summer and spring fashion campaigns that are being launched!  Brands know how to get the hype up about their new and upcoming lines.  The brands who have the best campaigns usually have the best lines that you’re guaranteed to fall in love with!Chelsea Crockett - Coach Campaign

  • Coach.  The picture on the right shows one of the many photos that are included in Coach’s spring/summer campaign.  Chloe Grace Moretz models all of the new stylish bags in front of the New York skyline… So pretty!  I can’t wait for all the new accessories to hit the stores!
  • Nike.  Nike’s new campaign is a series of unique pictures that show its models pulling off different moves and rocking what’s to come these next couple of seasons.  Like I’ve mentioned before I love to work out, so I can’t wait to see what new gear will be released!
  • Guess.  Guess may be on the pricier side, but it’s campaign starring Hailey Baldwin has me super curious about what all they’ll be launching this spring/summer!  It seems as though they’re focusing on a more retro look for their upcoming lines.  I guess we’ll have to stay tuned to find out! 🙂

Which upcoming line are you most excited for?  Let me know below!

To the people who say that turtlenecks are totally not cute, I say think again! They keep you cozy warm in the chilly temps all while rocking a stylish fashion staple. Layer them under coats, over skirts, tucked into jeans, any way you want! Here are my 3 favorite ways to wear them this winter.f7fd316d4e48530f850c88dee34e8dba

  1. Edgy and chic: If you want to try an edgy or trendy look, pair a gray turtleneck sweater with a
leather jacket, some black skinnies, and black booties. The shorter length of the leather jacket will nicely contrast with the longer hem and neck of the turtleneck, adding dimension to the outfit.
  2. Sweet and simple: A simple cable-knit sweater turtleneck is a very effortlessly classy look. Pair a simple sweater turtleneck with darker jeans and riding boots for a classic, timeless look.
  3. Fun and flirty: Get creative! Wear a turtleneck with a leather skirt and boots. Wear it layered with a plaid button-up shirt for a cute combo. Wear it with a faux fur vest to bring out your chic side. Turtlenecks are great winter pieces that can be layered and worn in so many ways, the sky is the limit.

What are your thoughts on turtlenecks? Do you think they are cute, or do you think they are a thing of the past? I’m a definite fan.
