Looking for a way to get a morning boost? Check out this yummy breakfast smoothie!

So I came across this recipe on Pinterest and fell in love with it! It tastes just like apple pie in a cup! So here are the ingredients:

chelsea crockett smoothie

–          5 almonds

–          1 red apple

–          1 banana

–          ¾ cup Greek yogurt, nonfat

–          ½ tsp cinnamon

–          ½ cup milk, nonfat

That’s it! Looks super simple, right? Combine all of the ingredients in your blender and blend them until they are a smooth consistency. Then viola! You now have apple pie in a cup. This smoothie is super healthy and will keep you full and focused until lunch time. If you like your smoothies cold like I do, freeze your bananas before you blend them. You can also toss a few ice cubes in with the mixture before you blend it.

Comment below if you try it and tell me what you think!

How many of you ladies love yourself a juicy Fruit Rollup? A Savory Fruit by the Foot? Some tangy Gushers? Well if you can say yes to any of the above, then tune it! Today I am going to teach you how to make healthy, homemade mango fruit rollups! The best part? There is no sugar, so you can feel great about snacking away on these yellow goodies!

You will start out with 4 cups of diced ripe mangos. That is about 3 mangos. Preheat your oven to 175 and line 2 rimmed cookie sheets with parchment paper. Puree the mango in a blender or food processer until it is smooth.

Divide the puree evenly between the two cookie sheets. Use a spatula to spread the puree as flat as possible until it is about 1/8th of an inch thick. Bake the mango for 3-4 hours. You will know the roll-ups are done when the puree is dry to the touch. If the bottom of the roll-ups is still wet after a while, flip them over and continue baking them until they are dried.

Remove them from the oven. Place a piece of wax paper on top of the roll-ups and peel the roll-ups off of the baking sheet. Cut the mango into long strips and then roll them up along with the wax paper in-between the rolls so that the mango does not stick together. Toss the rolls in a plastic baggy if you need an on-the-go snack or just munch on them at home! They are a great, fun, healthy snack when you want something sweet!

When I was a kid, I used to love applesauce! I still do! The best kind of applesauce is the homemade kind, the kind where you know all of the ingredients are all natural and there are no preservatives. Here is a super yummy, super healthy recipe so you can make your very own applesauce!

chelsea crockett apple sauce

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium apples
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tsp. – 1 tbsp. Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

1.Peel and core the apples. Chop the apples you have cored into chunky pieces.

2. Place the apples in your crockpot. In a separate bowl, combine water, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla. Pour the mixture over the apples in your crockpot, making sure the apples are evenly coated.

3. Put the lid onto the crockpot and cook the apples on low for 4 hours or until they are soft. Once they are soft, remove them from the crockpot and mash them with a hand masher if you want your applesauce to be chunky. If you want it smooth, mix it with a mixer!

Applesauce is the perfect after school or after practice snack! Satisfy your sweet tooth with this yummy treat! When your friends try it, you can tell them you made it from scratch. They will be SO impressed!

Nutella is the best invention on the planet. It is chocolaty goodness! I found this recipe for homemade Nutella that is to die for. Read on, chocolate lovers!

Ingredients:

-1 cup hazelnuts

-12 ounces milk chocolate chips (melted in the microwave)

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

– 3 tablespoons powdered sugar

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract

-1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Preheat your oven to 350. Lay the hazelnuts on a cookie sheet and toast them for about 14 minutes. You will need to take the skins off of the nuts and toasting them helps the skins come off. Place the nuts into a towel and rub them until the skins come off. Let the nuts cool.IMG_5979

2. In a food processor, blend the nuts until the consistency is smooth. Add all of the ingredients except for the melted chocolate and blend everything together.  Add the melted chocolate and blend the mixture together. It will be a little hot and runny but it will firm up once you let it cool.

Put the Nutella into a jar to store it. This recipe makes about 2 cups. Enjoy your homemade chocolaty goodness!

Hey everyone!
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!  So, it’s time to start thinking about how to celebrate.  You can show your love for that special someone or for your parents, grandparents, or friends.  One thing to think about is food!  When you think about it, most everything we do revolves around food.  Think about what your recipient would like most.  A box of candy, home baked cookies, Chinese take-out, a home cooked meal, or going to a favorite restaurant are among some of the ideas to choose from.
Next, you are going to need a special gift.  Gifts don’t always have to be bought.  Chelsea Crockett - CouponsGifts from the heart can often be simple.  You can write a letter to your loved one to tell them how much you really care and to thank them for bringing such joy to you.  Another fun idea is to make coupons for others.  You could write as many as you want.  Some examples would be:  A coupon for cooking dinner OR making the beds OR pizza and a movie night with your parents/grandparents.  Remember it’s the thought that goes into the gift that matters.
I hope some of these ideas help to make your Valentine’s Day extra special this year.  Remember it’s not necessarily a time to spend money on others, but a time to speak from the heart about what matters most…..those you love!

                                                                           Hey everyone!

Halloween’s right around the corner, which means bonfires, hayrides, parties, and other festivities are, too!  If you’re hosting (or helping host) a Halloween-themed party, you’re going to need fun and festive treats for your guests to snack on.  Below are a few creative and decorative ideas for yummy foods and snacks!

Chelsea Crockett - Apple PlatterAll candy and sweets aside, fun appetizers are a perfect way to kick off your party.  One of my favorite ideas is a dipping platter for apples.  Get an oval shaped platter and spread an eight ounce tub of cream cheese in the middle of the platter.  Then lay apple slices all around the outer ring of the cream cheese!  Drizzle some caramel sauce on top and bon appetite!

The most important part of Chelsea Crockett - Ghost PretzelsHalloween, is the sweets!  Anything dipped in chocolate is perfect for me, so this treat is a cute idea and so yummy!  Take a bunch of pretzels sticks and dip about one third of each them into white chocolate.  Then, take black icing and draw little faces on them for the resemblance of ghosts!  Some stores even sell little icing pens to make it a lot easier for decorating.

Another dessert idea is to make spider cupcakes.  Ice your cupcakes with chocolate icing and use strips of black licorice for legs.  Small marshmallows with a dot of black icing in the middle will work for eyes.  It’s a silly way to celebrate the season.  Enjoy this time of year with family, friends, and the tasty treats that come with it!

                                                Happy Halloween!

Hi Insiders!

Halloween is such a fun time of the year.  It’s the one day you can dress up as anything you want and not act yourself for a day.  So what do you do when you’re too old to Trick-or-Treat?  I’ve got a few fun Halloween ideas to keep the evening as exciting as it as when you were a kid!Chelsea Crockett- bonfire

Have all of your friends over for a bonfire.  Instead of dressing up in your own costume, create a themed bonfire.  Have everyone show up in their wackiest pajamas or as their favorite Disney character.  Complete your bonfire with s’mores, spooky music, and ghost stories.  Put plenty of blankets outside, so everyone can cuddle up and enjoy the night out by the fire.

If you’re looking for a lazier night with a few friends, give your parents the night off and watch scary movies and hand out candy to the neighborhood children.  Although you’ll be staying indoors, you’ll still be in the Halloween spirit!

If you’re planning on going all out this year, invite all of your friends over for a Halloween bash!  Clear out your basement, have all of your friends dress up, and dance the night away.  Be sure to provide plenty of crazy Halloween Chelsea Crockett- Halloween donutssnacks, like donut eyeballs (donut holes with red goo as the veins and a blue M&M as the iris) and a long music playlist.  You could even set up a station to make your own caramel apples.  Be creative with your party!

Happy Halloween!

Healthiest Dorm and School Snacks

Hey Insiders,

Whether you’re a broke college student or middle/high school student with not enough time in the day, finding time to snack healthy is hard.  It’s so easy to grab a soda and a bag of potato chips and run out the door.  Although this snack may be tiny, over time it can start to mess with your health.  Scary, huh?!  Show your body some love by snacking on foods that will benefit your body and overall health.  I’ll list a few of my favorite cheap, healthy, and on-the-go snacks for your busy life!

  • Popcorn: Pop a small bag before you go to bed.  This way you can grab the bag as you run out the door in the morning.  It’ll satisfy those salty cravings without all the calories.
  • Yogurt:  Ever get that late night ice cream craving?  I do!  Instead, try eating a yogurt.  It comes in so many flavors like vanilla, key lime pie, and even chocolate cake!  It has the creaminess and sweetness of yogurt without all the added fat.
  • String Cheese:  It’s not just for kindergarteners anymore!  This is such a great snack to grab out of the fridge and go.  It’s full of calcium and will even give you a little extra protein.
  • Nuts: This protein packed snack comes in so many different varieties and is extremely portable.  Pair them with a handful of raisins for added sweetness!
  • Crackers: Pick whole grain over regular crackers to feel fuller longer. Chelsea Crockett- nuts

Remember, it’s always simple to grab an apple or banana on the go too!  Taking care of your body is so important!  Not only will you feel better, but you’ll have a rockin’ bod and clear skin as well.  It’s a win-win situation!  Go healthy!

Popsicle Treats for Summer

Hello girls!  With the hot, sunny weather that comes along with summer, you’ll need something to cool you off.  What’s a better way to do so than a cool, yummy snack?  One of my favorite summer treats are popsicles.  Although most contain large amounts of sugar, there are a few do-it-yourself recipes that are healthy and just as good!  Here is one of them.

Chelsea Crockett -Yogurt PopsiclesA delicious substitution for popsicles is a yogurt pop.  They’re easy to make and taste great!  All you need is a container of your favorite yogurt.  Then cut a small line in the top of the yogurt and place a wooden stick for holding inside.  Make sure the yogurt cups are narrower at the bottom than the top.  Then, set them on a flat surface inside your freezer for an hour or two until they become frozen.  After you take them out, run the outside of the container under warm water and the yogurt pop should slip right out!  Yum!

Another creative way to make popsicles for the sugar lovers out there is with Kool Aid.  Make a jar of your favorite flavor of Kool Aid.  For the next step, you’ll need popsicle molds to put your Kool Aid in.  Once you have them, pour in your Kool Air and put plastic wrap over the top.  Set them in the freezer until it becomes solid enough to hold a wooden stick in place.  Put it back in the freezer until they become frozen.  Once they’re solid, take them out and enjoy!

These are only a couple do-it-yourself recipes and there are many more to try out!  Enjoy!
