Having the ultimate girls’ night at home can often trump any night out. Chick flicks, pizzas, and a bunch of sleeping bags may be the only things you think you’ll need for the perfect night, but I’ve found five Pinterest ideas that’ll make your sleepover the best of the year!

  • I love when I’m staying the night at a friend’s house and she has a killer breakfast to wake up to :). I found the cute idea of having a waffle bar with tons of toppings and flavors. You can put blueberries, strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, whipped cream, etc. out on your table while your waffles are toasting!Chelsea Crockett - Waffle Bar
  • Where I live, it’s still going to be warm outside for a while (and even if it’s a little cold in your area, bundle up!). If you have an open side of your house or a sheet you can hang somewhere outside, set up a projector and have an outdoor movie night!
  • Since fall is coming up, you’ll need some delicious hot drinks. Instead of a waffle bar like the one above, try out a hot chocolate bar! Set out different types of hot cocoa along with tons of different toppings such as mini marshmallows, caramels, whipped cream, etc. YUM!
  • Now this idea might be a little bit of a stretch for some, but I think it’s great! For a couple hours, everyone put their phone in a basket and play some old fashioned games such as capture the flag or flashlight tag!
  • Lastly, if you and your friends start to get bored, have some fun by doing blindfolded makeovers or facials! There are so many DIY face mask recipes to choose from.

Which idea are you going to try out? Let me know your fave below :)!

Everyone knows the rule: don’t go on Pinterest when you’re hungry! Unfortunately, I’m now craving a chocolatey treat. I found a recipe for s’mores krispie treats and they look to die for! They’re simple to make and fun for a summer treat. Here’s what you need to know:

First comes first, ingredients… You’ll need 3 tablespoons of butter, a pinch salt, 5 cups of mini marshmallows, 6 cups of Graham cereal pieces, and 3 Hershey’s® chocolate bars. First off, melt the butter in a pot and stir in the salt. Chelsea Crockett - Smores Krispie TreatsStir in 4 cups of marshmallows in the melted butter until they’re completely melted as well. Take the pot off of heat and stir in the cereal and the extra cup of mini marshmallows. For the next part, make sure your Hershey’s® bars are broken into individual squares (it’s easiest to do this before you start the process to save time). Spray a pan with cooking spray and quickly pour in half of your mixture onto the pan. Add a layer of broken chocolate pieces on top of the mixture. Repeat this step again by adding the second half of the mixture followed by the rest of the chocolate pieces. Let it sit overnight or in the refrigerator for an hour.

Lastly, enjoy! YUM!

The words “broccoli” and “tater tots” are not normally used in the same sentence…but today we are making an exception! I saw these delicious tots on Pinterest and had to investigate. These delectable taters are so much better for you because they are made of veggies! Here is how to make them:

Ingredients:images (1)

  • 2 cups frozen broccoli
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup diced yellow onion
  • ⅓ cup cheddar cheese
  • ⅓ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ⅓ cup italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Boil the broccoli for minute then remove and rinse it with cold tap water to stop the cooking process. Drain well.
  3. Chop broccoli finely and mix well with the egg, onions, cheddar, breadcrumbs, and seasoning. Scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of the broccoli mix and gently press between your hands into a firm ball then shape into a tater-tot shape. Place them on your prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake until the tots are golden brown and crispy, or about 18-24 minutes, turning half way. Remove from the oven and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce! Mine is ketchup.

Delish!

PS. side note, I made these this weekend and LOVED them!

Cookie dough and brownies is a lethal combo. Like, so good it could kill ya! What if I told you that you could combine the two…! Here is a delicious recipe for just that; cookie dough brownies!

Ingredients for brownies:

  • 1 box of brownie mixChocolate-Chip-Cookie-Dough-Brownies-3

Ingredients for cookie dough:

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Ingredients for toppings:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ⅔ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter

First, prepare the brownies as the instructions on the box tell you. Next, create the cookie dough layer by creaming the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with a mixer and then add in milk and flower a bit at a time. Stir in chocolate chips with a spoon and then spread the cookie mixture over the cooled brownies. To make the topping bring heavy cream and butter to a boil, then pour it over chocolate chips and let it sit for 4 minutes. Stir until it is combined and then pour it over the cookie dough layer. Let it cool for 30 minutes and then refrigerate it to firm it up.

Mmmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about these! Is YOURS?

When talking about beauty and health, most people think about makeup, medicine, or products!  Believe it or not, some of the best beauty and health “products” can be found in the grocery store aisle!  Lemons are an amazing, tasty fruit that can be used to heighten your beauty routine and create a healthier you!  Check out how you can start incorporating lemons into your daily routine. Chelsea Crockett- lemon and honey

  • Lemons are full of vitamin C. If you’re feeling under the weather, add lemon juice to your water or tea for a quick boost!
  • If you have acne, cut open a lemon, add a dash of honey to the slice, and rub it over your skin. Leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water. If you’re trying to get rid of dark spots or scars, continue this process (minus the honey) daily until you see the results you’ve been looking for!
  • Mix together 1 tsp. with lemon juice for a homemade teeth whitener! Rub the paste on your teeth with a Q-Tip and leave on for 1 minute (this solution is very strong).
  • If you have oily skin, dab lemon juice on problem areas using a cotton ball before bed!
  • Create your own hair mask to get rid of dandruff by combining lemon juice with honey, coconut oil, and olive oil.
  • If you’re planning on being out in the sun all day, spritz your hair with lemon juice to naturally highlight it!

Next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up some lemons!  You’ll be happy you did!

To me, salt and vinegar potato chips are something I often crave. They are the perfect road trip munchy, and late night bite! They are so tangy and delicious, I could eat the whole bag! And there lies the problem. Potato chips are far from healthy, as you may be sad to hear. But, luckily, there is a healthier version that you can munch on to your hearts content! Here is a recipe for salt and vinegar kale chips!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch kale
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oilSea-Salt-and-Vinegar-Kale-Chips-5
  • 1/2 tsp. coarse sea salt

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Wash then dry your kale leaves and, using a knife, separate the green kale leaves from their ribs and throw away the ribs. Tear the leaves to the size that you want your chips, but keep in mind that they shrink once baked! In a large bowl combine the kale, vinegar, oil, and half the salt. Toss and mix the kale for a few minutes until it has darkened and softened. On a baking sheet or two covered in parchment paper, spread the kale out in one layer. Sprinkle on the rest of the salt and bake for 7-10 minutes. The kale should be crunchy! Once it has cooled, you can start munching on your healthy, tangy morsels! You can also store these tasty bites in a container for up to a week.

Impress the socks off of your friends with this healthy take on everyone’s favorite late night crunchy snack!

I go to California often; sometimes for work, sometimes for fun. I love Cali! On my last trip for BeautyCon LA, my friends and I decided to take a breakfast trip to Urth Caffe (you know, that organic restaurant all the celebs Instagram). I was very curious to try their blended green tea drink! I immediately fell in love and looked up how to make it on my own. I want all of you to try it too! Bring Urth Caffe to your kitchen!Chelsea Crockett- matcha green tea

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Blender
  • 1 tablespoon of 100% matcha green tea leaf powder
  • 1 cup of any type of milk (soy, skim, almond, etc.)
  • 2/3 cup of ice
  • Sugar or Stevia (optional)

It’s pretty simple. Combine all the ingredients into a blender and enjoy! You can add a few drops of mint (my favorite) or vanilla flavoring, or a banana to change it up. If you want your drink more or less “shake-like” you can add as little or as much ice as you’d like. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

XOXO,

During the summer months I am always on the go, which means I eat things that are easy to make and quick go grab. saladUnfortunately, usually foods that are quick and easy are ones that aren’t very good for you, such as fast food. One way to stay healthy on the go is to have a salad in a jar ready to go! Here is how to build your perfect on the go snack- salad in a jar!

For the first layer of your salad, you want to put the dresing. Then, as the second layer, you want to layer your protein and hearty toppings, like beans, carrots, bell peppers, or chickpeas. The next layer is your lighter toppings, like quinoa, seeds, tomatoes, nuts, or strawberries. The last layer is your leafy portion, so that is your lettuce, spinach, or mixed greens. The perfect salad contains all of those layers, and your handy dandy salad in the jar is the ultamate “fast food.”

Keep a couple jars in your fridge ready to go at all times so instead of driving through Mickey D’s when you are in a pinch, you can just grab a salad from the fridge and go!

Summer is so close I can almost taste it… that is the endless amount of ice cream and popsicles I’m going to eat! Oops! I searched on Pinterest for a recipe that would give me a great tasting popsicle that wouldn’t make me feel guilty after eating it. Soooo… here is an amazing recipe that you can easily make at home!

First, you’ll need to purchase a popsicle mold for your treats to freeze in. Then, while you’re at the store, pick up your favorite kind of yogurt Chelsea Crockett - Berry Popsicles(it can even be Greek!). I suggest a simple vanilla, low-fat kind. It’s healthier and you won’t have to worry about the taste of your fruits clashing with it. Next, grab about three different types of fruits. The recipe on Pinterest calls for strawberries, kiwis, and blueberries, but you can substitute something out for any of them!

Lastly, slightly fill your molds with a little yogurt and slide down whatever fruits you want in each. Let them freeze for a few hours (I prefer overnight) and then you can dig in! You can even serve them with granola for some extra flavor!

Enjoy! – Chelsea

Raise your hand if you love Milkey Way bars. Okay, I am just going to imagine a lot of your hands are raised! I loooove Milkey Way candy bars. They are the perfect balance of chocolate, caramel, and fluff! Here is how to make the most marvelous Milkey Way brownies you will ever have!

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of brownie mixScreen Shot 2013-07-15 at 8.36.44 AM2
  • For the chocolate fluff layer:
    • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 cup marshmallow crème
    • 1 ½ tbsp. heavy cream
  • Caramel layer:
    • 8 ounces of caramels
    • 1 ½ tbsp. cream

Preheat your oven to 350°. Line an 8 x 8 pan with foil and then make the brownie mix as the box instructs. Bake 25-30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Let them cool completely while making the fluff. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave with the cream. Once it is smooth, stir in the marshmallow crème until it is well combined and then spread it over the cooled brownies. Next make the caramel layer by melting the caramels with the cream in the microwave and then spread it over the fluff layer. Make the chocolate topping by melting chocolate chips with oil in the microwave until it is smooth and then spread it over the caramel layer.  Chill the brownies for about 2 hours, and then use a knife that has been heated with hot water to cut the frozen brownies.

Okay so how delicious do these sound?! I am making them asap.

As most of you know, I live in a small town in Illinois. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to go to all of the homecoming fairs and parades in my town and all of the small towns surrounding mine. My friends and I love to go together and ride the rides and eat all of the delicious food, especially funnel cakes! Funnel cakes are the ultimate summer fair snack. Here is how to make your very own funnel cake fries at home! These treats are a bite size twist on your everyday funnel cake.

Ingredients:best-funnel-cake-fries-method-recipe-18

  • Funnel cake mix
  • 3-4 cups canola oil
  • Marshmallow crème for dipping

Make the funnel cake mix per the directions on the box. Once you have a smooth batter, pour it into an empty catchup bottle for piping. Add an inch of oil to a large pot and heat it to 350 degrees. Pipe the batter in long straight lines into the oil and let it fry until it is golden, which should take around 30-60 seconds per side. Remove them from the oil and place them on a plate. Sprinkle them with powdered sugar while they are still hot. If you want, you can dip them in marshmallow crème! So yummy.

Enjoy this sweet summer treat with friends or whip up a batch for yourself! 😉

For those of us that watch what we eat, we know that dieting can be tough. There are all sorts of books, apps, websites, etc. that give plans and tips on how you should be eating when trying to stay healthy. There are so many myths and misheard tips on dieting and I’m here to clear them up!

  • “Calorie count is the only thing you should be worried about when looking for healthy foods.” FALSE! Yes, calories are definitely a good thing to keep in mind, but other factors like the amount of sodium and fats are super important.Chelsea Crockett - Healthy Eating
  • “If you’re trying to be healthy, avoid large amounts of protein.” FALSE! Too much of anything is always bad, but your body needs protein to function. People often avoid meat thinking it’s bad for them but truth is, it’s not as bad as everyone thinks!
  • “It’s okay to eat carbs, you need them for energy.” FALSE. Carbs do give you energy, but they should be avoided if you’re really trying to lose weight. You can get your energy elsewhere!
  • “The less you eat, the skinnier you’ll get.” FALSE. I often hear people trying to lose wait by barely eating or exclusively eating only fruits and vegetables. Your body needs food, especially protein and other nutrients/minerals. This tip is extremely important!

I love eating healthy, so I always keep these tips in mind. I hope I helped bust any myths you thought were true about healthy eating!

Banana splits are delicious. Now there’re banana split concretes, banana split pies, banana split everything! One of the yummiest (and not to forget easiest) recipes I’ve found on Pinterest is banana split bites. So… here’s what you need! You’re welcome :).

For the ingredients you’ll need:Chelsea Crockett - Banana Split Bites

  • Strawberries, bananas, pineapples
  • Dark or milk chocolate
  • Vegetable oil
  • Chopped nuts

Once you’ve picked up what you need, here are your next steps. First, you’ll need to make your chocolate sauce. Take a teaspoon of oil and melt it with 2.5 oz of chocolate on the stove. While it’s melting, cut the strawberries in half and the bananas in bite-size pieces. Do the same with the pineapple! Put one piece of each fruit on a skewer and dip one side into the chocolate sauce. Quickly dip the chocolate covered fruit into the nuts. Finally, set them out onto a sheet to harden! Your final treat should look similar to the one on the right :)!

YUM! Love, Chels
