As children of God, we are so blessed to be able to experience the grace of God every single day. I recently listened to a sermon that revealed to me a new perspective on God’s grace and how we, as Christians, can learn from grace and grow from it, too.

Throughout our lives, we’re constantly growing into the people we’re meant to be. During this process, there’s a lot of regret, forgiveness, realizations, and much, much more. One thing that God freely gives us is grace. Grace over our sins, grace over our weaknesses, grace over our future… The list goes on and on.

Without grace, we’re stuck at a standstill. There’s no room to grow into the person God wants us to be, both in our spiritual lives and daily lives.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

What does it mean when God says his grace is sufficient? Sufficient means “adequate for its purpose; enough.” God’s grace is enough for us and he gives us this freely. We’re always going to have setbacks and downfalls throughout our lives, but the Bible instructs us to boast about our weaknesses because this is where God works most in our lives.

Ephesians 2:8 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God…”

Through what Jesus did for us on the cross, we’ve been saved, forgiven, renewed, and so much more. He gives us grace that covers all our sins, even the ones we think are too bad to be forgiven. It’s necessary to remember that we, ourselves, are not solely responsible for our both personal and spiritual growth. “It is not from ourselves, it is the gift of God!” We too often forget about this simple statement, and it’s one that holds so much importance!

I think we sometimes forget how amazing the grace of God is. When Jesus extends grace over our multitude of sins, we can live freely in him and grow into the person we were meant to be. This quote I once stumbled upon is a good reality check when it comes to God’s grace.

“Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God’s grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God’s grace.” – Jerry Bridges

We should never think we’re too far passed the help of God’s grace. We should also never think we’re too content to have the need for God’s grace. These two points are so important to remember because God’s grace is such a gift! We are never too far gone or too far satisfied to receive the grace of God!

How will you use God’s grace to grow today? How will you act in such a way that you can live freely and happily in your own walk with Christ? These are things to think about that will change your perspective on grace and how you react to it!
