Have you ever been thrown into a situation where you don’t think there’s a way out? Maybe you feel like God presented you with an opportunity, but you don’t even know what to do with it.

Throughout the years, God will fill your life with both good and bad situations and experiences. You may have thoughts of confusion, doubt, and maybe even fear, but God will never bring you to something that he won’t carry you through.

There are several passages in the Bible where it talks about how God equips us with the things we need. He doesn’t abandon us to figure it out on our own while we feel scared, anxious, and isolated. He wants us to know that despite our worry and doubt, he provides every single time. Look at what the Bible has to say about it!

Matthew 6:31-34 says, “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

When have you felt most deserted by God? Was it through a terrible break up in high school? Or maybe when you didn’t get into your dream college you’ve been planning on attending for years?

We’re going to come to several roadblocks and setbacks all throughout our lives. Or at least that’s what we think they are. God doesn’t lead us into failure, for he always has a purpose in where and what he guides us into.

If God takes you through an awful break up, think of it as a new opportunity. Maybe God knows you need some time to yourself to figure out who you are before you give part of yourself to someone else. He will provide you with guidance and clarity during these times, all you have to do is be willing to listen!

Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

If we truly believe the word of God, then we should never doubt the promises within it. This verse is not just a statement, but a promise. God will meet all your needs, not just in the good times of your life. God will never take us into a situation that he expects us to handle on our own.

Isn’t that cool to think about? Our heavenly father never abandons us or leaves us to deal with things alone. Where God guides, he always provides. Rest in this promise and remember to put your trust in Christ, today and every day.

The Makeup Guide to Brightening Your Face

I hate when I spend half an hour doing my makeup only to be disappointed with how it turns out.  Whenever this happens, it’s usually because my face looks too dark or too dull.  I found a guide on Pinterest that helps me take any dull look and transform it into a bright, glowing face of makeup!

  • Inner corners of eyeChelsea Crockett - Bright Makeups.  Making your eyes brighter is the key to making your entire face appear brighter.  Lightening around your eyes, especially around the inner corners, will not only make your eyes pop but make you look more radiant than before!
  • On top of cheekbones.  You have to make sure you lighten your cheekbones because they cover such a huge area of your face.  Use a light highlighter that will make your cheekbones pop but leave you with that natural look, as well.
  • On top of nose.  Since your nose is the most central part of your face, you can’t forget about brightening that area, too.  Take your highlighter and apply it lightly to the bridge and tip of your nose to give it a little pop!
  • Center of lips.  You may not have heard of this before, but adding a little white shimmer to the center of your lips can make them appear bigger and obviously brighter!  Try it out for yourself!

Try out these steps and let me know if your makeup look does a total 180 like mine does after following this guide! 🙂

3 Steps to Pulling Off Black Lipstick

Black lipstick is something that I never dared to try and pull off.  I always thought it was too risky and too dark for my personality!  But turns out, it’s a growing trend that I’ve seen anyone from celebrities to some of my closest friends start to try out.  If you’re easing into the black lipstick world, here are 3 steps to pull it off!

  1. First, you’ll need to focus on your eyes. Chelsea Crockett - Shay Mitchell If you try and wear black lipstick when your eye makeup is light, your lips will overpower your whole look.  Find an eyeshadow palette that doesn’t necessary have just black in it, but darker shades that will compliment dark lips, as well.  This is crucial!  Try a different blend of darker shades on your eyelids and lower lash line like Shay Mitchell did on the right.  She totally rocks this look!
  2. Next comes the contour.  Try out a darker contour that really defines your cheek bones and jawline.  Make sure you have a lighter highlight to add above the contour line as well.  This will create the illusion that your contour is darker than it is.  That being said, don’t forget to blend! 🙂
  3. Lastly, finish off some final touches such as eyebrows and obviously, lips!  The key to this look is making everything a little darker than usual.  Unfortunately, black lipstick doesn’t work too well with the natural look, so define and darken up those brows!

If you still don’t think you can pull it off, try out these three steps for yourself.  It’s a fun look to mix things up a bit every once in a while!

When it comes to blow dryers, hair straighteners, and curling irons, I can guarantee that every one of us have used at least one of those beauty tools before!  After we get out of the shower, before we go to school, and for lots of other occasions we usually apply heat to our hair in a number of different ways.  That being said, here is a quick guide on how to protect our hair from too much heat exposure!

Chelsea Crockett - Hair StraightenerHair Straightener:  If your hair is pretty sensitive to heat, pick a straightener that lets you pick your heat setting.  Most will allow you to turn the heat up or down in case it’s too hot or not hot enough.  If your hair is thin, I suggest lowering the heat to prevent your hair from getting burnt or damaged.  If you have thick hair, don’t be afraid to boost it up in order to achieve the sleek look you’re going for!

Curling Iron/Wand: There are a few things to consider when picking your perfect curler.  Decide if you want a simple 1-inch wand or a 2-inch curling iron that has a clamp.  Make sure you pick one that allows you to adjust your heat setting instead of relying on the amount of time you spend holding your hair to the tool or under the clamp.  This can cause the most damage without you realizing it!

Blow Dryer:  Most blow dryers will have a setting to adjust the speed and temperature of the air.  With this heated beauty tool, there isn’t much to consider since you’ll have to get the job done one way or another!

Do you have any other tips you think I should know?  Let me know below!

If you’re still in high school, you may be unfamiliar with the term “formal.”  Formals are kind of like the college version of a homecoming dance put on by a fraternity or sorority!  If you’re new to the college world and need some advice on an upcoming spring formal, here are some tips and pointers!

  • You don’t have to have a date in order to go to formal. Chelsea Crockett - Romper More girls go solo than you think.  Get dressed up, grab a group of friends, and go have fun by yourself!
  • Although you should dress up, dresses aren’t a must.  You can rock a fancy romper and heels (such as the picture on the right) or a stylish jumpsuit.  Unlike high school homecomings, you’ll see tight and loose dresses, dresses and rompers, wedges and heels, etc.
  • Don’t be afraid to hit the dance floor.  Unlike high school dances where it can sometimes be awkward to dance, most people will be dancing at formal!  No one cares what you look like or whether or not you have a date.  Get out of your chairs and dance like crazy!
  • You can make plans before and after just like you did for high school dances.  Get ready with your friends beforehand, make dinner reservations, and host an afterparty!
  • Formals are a lot more laid back, and a lot less stressful, than prom and homecoming.  Like I said, you don’t have to bring a date or make a day full of plans surrounding the event.  Just simply have fun!

Have fun at your formal and make lots and lots of memories! 🙂

Eating healthy is something we all struggle with at times.  I mean, who would actually prefer an apple over a piece of cake?  Although it can be hard, there are certain hacks and tips you can follow that can make eating healthier easier!  There are also other pointers that will help you get right to the point when it comes to dieting.

  • Skip the fad diets.  Trendy, or “fad,” diets are often just that… a trend.  Chelsea Crockett - Healthy FoodsBesides the occasional one that’s actually beneficial, most aren’t even healthy for your body.  You might drop a few quick pounds but that’s usually all you’ll get out of them!
  • Eat more often.  WHATTT?  If you don’t eat enough to fill you up, you’ll probably end up overeating by the time dinner rolls around.  Eat enough to keep you full, just be smart about what you give your body in order to do so!
  • Don’t freak out about the numbers.  If you’re cutting out all foods that are high in sodium, fats, calories, etc., you’re probably overthinking it.  Yes, these things matter but make sure you research what each number means instead of automatically putting it back on the shelf.
  • Get excited about preparing healthy meals and snacks.  Find different Pinterest recipes that include some of your favorite healthy foods.  You’ll be more tempted to eat healthy when you find some recipes that make your mouth water!
  • Be aware of sneaky sugars.  Sugars are known for making their way into things that you wouldn’t expect them to be in.  Be aware of what you’re actually eating!

Try out some of these hacks to make eating healthy a piece of cake! 🙂

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.  I get to see all of my family, eat a delicious homemade meal, and celebrate Jesus’s resurrection!  Every year, I pick out a dress to wear to church and family get-togethers on Easter Sunday.Chelsea Crockett - Overalls  If you’re wondering what to wear, here’s a little guide on what’s “in” and what’s “out” this year!

Casual: If you’re going for a more casual look, then you have lots of options to choose from!  One look I’ve really been into lately is short overalls with a tee underneath.  Some overalls have a skirt instead of shorts which is a little dressier for the occasion!  Dress it up with jewelry and a casual pair of wedges or sandals.  You can also go with a casual patterned romper or a cute shirt and white pants.

Dressy:  If you’re planning on dressing up for Easter, which is what I normally do, sometimes less is more!  A simple pastel or white sundress can be dressed up with heels or wedges, accessories, and maybe a cute hat!  Focus on finding a dress that’s a pretty spring color such as light pink, white, or pastel purple!  You could even try out a fancy romper or a patterned two-piece set.

What are you thinking about wearing for Easter Sunday?  Let me know below!  Maybe I’ll get some ideas for myself. 🙂

Happy Easter! – Chelsea

When I first started out using makeup, I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing!  But over the years, I’d like to think I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with creating all the different beauty and makeup trends on my own skin.  Eyeshadow trends can sometimes be the hardest to pull off without knowing where to put each shade.  Chelsea Crockett - Eye MakeupThis guide helped me master eyeshadow and know the best way to accent my eyes!

  • Brow bone/Highlight.  As far as your brow bone goes, focus on highlighting it.  This will give your eyes the pop they need!
  • Crease.  To add some dimension to your eyes, add a darker shade to your crease.  Once again, this will make them pop!
  • Lid.  This is where your base color will go.  I suggest a neutral shade that will be a good foundation for your other darker tones!
  • Outer V.  If you’re a fan of the “cat eye” eyeliner look, then this part of your lid will practically be covered anyways.  But if you’re not big on eyeliner, then apply a darker shade to your outer v.  If you want a softer look, blend with a blending brush for a less sharp effect.
  • Lower Lash Line.  Once again, if you’re an eyeliner type of girl, then this part of your eye will most likely already be covered!  But if you want a little more definition, add a darker, neutral shadow to your lash line.
  • Tear duct.  To add a little glow to your eyes, apply a shimmery or light colored eyeshadow.  This will make your eyes sparkle!

I hope this helps you just as much as it helped me!

When winter starts to roll in, there are certain things to do to prepare your closet for the cold weather ahead.  I always make sure my wardrobe is ready for the season, whether it be summer or winter.  Make sure you check these essentials off your list so you can be ready, too!

  • Change your closet from warm to cold.  My closet used to get extremely cluttered with all of my summer and winter clothes stuffed together.  Switch out all of your shorts and sandals for pants and booties!Chelsea Crockett - Winter Outift
  • Purchase a neutral, warm coat that will go with a majority of your outfits.  Finding a coat that is both stylish and keeps you warm is key for the cold weather!
  • Also, purchase a good pair of snow/rain boots.  Especially if you’re in college, walking to class in the snow without a good pair of boots will be awful!
  • Know how to layer.  When it comes to looking stylish in the winter, layering up with different shirts and jackets is a necessity.  I sometimes find it hard to find a cute outfit to wear and be warm at the same time.  Knowing how to layer like a pro is the perfect way to achieve this!
  • Purchase the perfect winter accessories that go with your style.  Accessories such as beanies, scarves, high socks, tights, etc. are the best way to spice up your outfit and make your outfit warmer at the same time!  You get the best of both worlds, right?

I hope you’re all prepared for an awesome winter ahead!

Habits don’t always have to be bad. Some habits that we make such as working out every day or reading our bibles daily can help us grow physically and/or mentally. There’s ways to make something you do turn into a habit such as eating healthy or going to bed early. Here’s how!

Scientifically, habits are formed within 21 days. Chelsea Crockett - Good Habit ListThat means if you repeat something consistently for exactly 3 weeks, your mind will form the action into a habit.  That being said, you can also break a habit in 21 days such as biting your nails or eating certain junk food every day after school!  Here’s a step-by-step list of how you can achieve this:

  1. Make a list of which habits you want to make or which habits you want to break.
  2. Motivate yourself!  Write down the reasons for why you’re making that habit.  If your habit is to go to sleep earlier every night, write down why you want to do so!  This will remind you to stick to it.
  3. Make a countdown.  If you can make it to 21 days, then you’re on the right track!  After 3 weeks, you shouldn’t even have to think about it.  It should just come naturally!
  4. Come up with a reward to give yourself after 21 days.  You made it!  (You can even go off the picture to the right to make your own list!)

Think of something you want to turn into a good habit and do it.  With a little motivation, it’s easier than you think!

Middle parts can be tricky. You may be nervous to break away from the side part you’ve been comfortable with all your life! Middle parts represent a high fashion look that can be worn for more formal occasions, curled or straight, or for your everyday look if that’s what you prefer. Once you’re ready to give it a try, follow these simple steps!Chelsea Crockett - Taylor Hill Middle Part

  1. Get your hair used to it. It takes a while to train your hair to stay a certain way. If you’ve parted your hair on the side your whole life, it’ll take a few times to make it look natural. Definitely start by parting it the way you want it after you shower or when it’s wet.
  2. Use the right tools. By blow drying your hair after you shower, it’ll help force it to stay.
  3. Frame your face. By using a straightener, you can frame your hair around your face, whether you want it curled or straightened. This will help make it look more natural and styled!
  4. Find a style that fits your cut. Depending on the length and cut of your hair, you’ll have to find a style that looks best on you. Like the picture on the right, she used her layers to her advantage and loosely curled each piece.

Training your hair to a new style is the hardest but most important step of rocking a middle part. Once you achieve that, then you’re ready to tackle the next step!

Good luck! – Chels

For those of you jumping into a new internship, it can be pretty nerve-racking, especially if you’re new to the interning world. You may not know the rules and guidelines to follow, like how to act, what to wear, etc. I came up with some pointers that will help you be successful when you begin your new internship!Chelsea Crockett - Internship Advice

  • Of course, good first impressions are important. But even more importantly is keeping that first impression throughout your entire internship! Throughout the entire time, keep offering your help and treating everyone in the office with respect.
  • Stand out! Reach out to your coworkers and make yourself memorable. If you have ideas of your own, speak your mind when the time is appropriate!
  • Pay attention to details. If someone is teaching you how to do something, take notes! Remember the little things people mention to you. You’ll not only gain experience but it’ll help you in the long run!
  • Lastly, make sure you keep in touch with people at your internship, especially those with connections. If you don’t get offered a job, there’s always a chance you could get referred to another company. Email those who got you the internship even after it’s over, and something may work in your favor!

Whether you’re in the middle of your internship or about to begin one, I hope these pointers help you out!

Do you ever have one of those nights where you’re up past midnight and on the edge of a breakdown? Most of you in high school know what I’m talking about!  Late night homework sessions are the worst and can build up endless amounts of stress. I put together some tips to help you relax in your crunch times!

  • Lavender scents are some of my favorites. They’re so relaxing and are scientifically proven to relieve stress. I prefer burning a lavender candle next to where I’m working. Try it out!
  • I’m all about living a healthy lifestyle, but sometimes stress calls for a nice helping of your favorite ice cream! Use it for some motivation or a reward for getting all of your assignments done. Chelsea Crockett - Hot Tea
  • If you’re up late studying, let your mind rest by going to sleep and waking up earlier than you normally do. This way you can still get your studying in and give your brain a break for a little while.
  • While you’re working, make yourself a hot drink to sip on. I suggest a hot cup of tea, either black or green. This will give you a little caffeine to get you through the long hours. It’s also super soothing, too!

What advice would you give someone for late night study sessions? Leave a comment below!

Dances in the spring and fall can be easy to shop for. The weather’s still warm enough for open-toed shoes and jacketless ensembles. On the other hand, winter dances can be a little tricky. Should you get a short or long dress? Should it be sleeved or sleeveless? I’m here to answer your questions!

  • Short or long dress? Oftentimes, whether you wear a short or long will depend on how formal your winter dance is. Chelsea Crockett - Jacket and DressBut if you can go either or, I suggest a long dress or a short, sleeved dress! This way you can be a little warmer than if you wore a sleeveless, short dress.
  • Inside or outside pictures? Finding a place for pictures is always a struggle. For the cold weather, I definitely suggest finding a pretty place inside to take your pictures. This way you’re not miserable in the cold and you don’t have to worry about any wind, rain, or snow to ruin your night!
  • Jacket or no jacket? This goes back to whether your dress is sleeved or sleeveless. If your dress is sleeveless, then a jacket is a necessity. I suggest either a fancy pea coat or a short, nicer jacket or sweater.
  • Heels or booties? As far as shoes go, it’s up to you! Although it’s cold, heels are still fine to wear to your dance. If you’d rather have closed-toe shoes, buy a pair of heeled booties!

I hope I helped you solve any of your winter dance struggles! Hope you have a fun night :)!

We’ve all heard the saying “less is more.” It’s the key to high fashion and putting together a chic, stylish look. It’s hard to get the perfect balance when putting together a simple minimal look, but it’s possible with a little help :).Chelsea Crockett - Minimal Outfit

Most girls struggle between wanting to pull off a look like this without looking too plain. It’s not as hard as you think! There are only a couple pointers that you’ll have to follow. First, you’ll have to wear neutral colors such as white, tan, black, nude, etc. Make sure it’s a solid color without any bright or neon shades.

Next, you’ll need some clean cut articles of clothing. Pieces such as blazers are a sharp effect that makes your outfit look elegant and put together. The outfit on the right is one of my favorite examples of this. How cute is that? It may not be your style, but if you like it, it’s pretty easy to pull off!

You might read on other fashion blogs that too many accessories are an absolute no, but that’s not always the case. Yes, chunky bright bracelets aren’t going to go too well with a simple, neutral outfit, but you can always accessorize when it comes to fashion. The best way to do so is with silver and gold jewelry. A neutral watch with a small diamond necklace and studs is how I prefer to accessorize when it comes to this type of outfit.

I hope this gave you some tips next time you want to rock a look like this!

Senior pictures are going to be some of the last professional pics you get before you’re out of college and all grown up! Some people think they’re overrated, but I love the idea of picking out a few stylish outfits and having a photoshoot all for yourself. I came up with a little outfit guide if you’re stumped on the best way to dress for your senior pictures!

First and foremost, your pictures are solely for you. You need to wear what clothes will represent you best! If you’re a girly girl and love preppy, pink sundresses, rock them! Maybe you prefer a minimal look with boyfriend jeans, a tee, and booties. Show it off! These pictures are the one time you can say they’re 100% about you and for you, so make sure you wear what shows your personality best.

Of course, this part will vary on who you have taking your pictures. But if you’re not completely sure what to bring,Chelsea Crockett - Selfie I suggest two casual outfits and two dressy outfits. For example, I would possibly take a romper and a nice dress. For casual looks, a pair of dark and light skinny jeans with nice, interchangeable shirts is perfect! You can always dress them up with wedges, accessories, and a cute sun hat! I love this outfit I wore on the right, it’s a great example! A long sleeved tan shirt, a chunky necklace, and a maroon hat all tie together nicely :).

If I had to put it into two words: be yourself! Look like your natural, beautiful self!

Good luck! – Chels
