I hear life as a blondie can be a struggle sometimes, especially if you are a natural brunette who dyes her hair blonde! Any girl who dyes her hair blonde on a regular basis will tell you what a hassle it is to maintain it and how dreadful the horrible brassy color is that can overtake the once frosty blonde hair. Are you a blondie in need of some hair revitalization? Try Purple shampoo!

What is it exactly?best-purple-shampoo-81

It is literally shampoo in a deep shade of purple. The shampoo works to neutralize brassy, yellow tones that your hair can take on after a while of washing it and not getting touchups. When we wash our hair with purple shampoo, our hair absorbs a small amount of purple pigment, which cancels out red and yellow undertones, making your blue undertones higher. It basically brightens up the blonde by restoring your hair to its former cooler color. Using a purple shampoo can extend the life of your color! This means less trips to the salon and more money in your pocket!

How to use it?

Rinse your hair in warm water before using it so your hair shafts expand and allow more purple pigment to get in there. Work the shampoo into your hair and then let it sit for about 5 minutes. Rinse your hair in cool water which closes the hair shaft, sealing in the color. If you want, follow up with purple conditioner!

And, NO this shampoo will NOT turn your hair purple! I pinky promise.

Are you tired of having blonde hair that is the color of straw? Slap some purple shampoo on it! Problem solved.

You detox your body, so why not detox your HAIR! Your hair is bombarded with chemicals and products on a daily basis, and over time that stuff can do a number on it. They can weigh it down, make it dull and lifeless, and make it healthy! The hair detox that I am showing you involves 2 ingredients, your favorite shampoo and sea salt! Sea salt is full of minerals. It removes dead skin cells, dirt, and product from your hair and de-greases it without stripping the natural oils from it! Is your hair in need of a boost? Do the detox below!Q1+Dry+Hair

Just mix 3 parts course sea salt with 2 parts shampoo together to create this detox. If your hair is in need of a little moisture, add in some coconut oil! Wash your hair with the mixture and then thoroughly rinse with cool water. Now this shampoo is not to use daily, just use it once a month or so to detox your hair and give it a fresh start. Using the mixture too often may dry your hair and scalp!

Are you a victim of limp, dull hair? Detox, detox, detox!

You, yes YOU, could be ruining your hair without even knowing it! How can this be?! How do I avoid unknowingly ruining my luscious locks?! Have no fear, Chelsea is here to tell you just what mistakes you may be making and how to avoid them! Save your mane!

  1. Protect those locks: ALWAYS use a heat protectant when you are styling your hair! Hot tools like blow dryers and hair straighteners are BRUTAL to your hair! Have you ever burned your skin with your curling iron? That heat is being applied to your hair! Your hair needs all the protection it can get.IMG_6733
  2. Pack on the protein: Your hair is made entirely of protein, so you need to make sure you are eating enough of it! Some examples are fish, chicken, and beans!
  3. Dry right: Did you know drying your hair with a towel can rough the cuticle up and leave it frizzy? ‘Tis the truth! Instead, dry your hair with a cotton t-shirt.
  4. Be a better brusher: We all know we aren’t supposed to brush our hair when it is wet, but the feel of stringy wet hair isn’t the best feeling ever. So, detangle your wet locks and brush through them with a wide toothed comb! Much better for your hair.
  5. Save your scalp: Your scalp is where your hair growth starts, so a healthy scalp = healthy hair! Give yourself a scalp massage daily to stimulate the follicles and get the blood moving throughout your scalp. This can lead to healthier, faster growing hair!

I have super long hair and I can honestly say that I keep up with these tips! Having long hair takes a lot of work, but it is worth the struggle!

Ombre VS. Balayge

We all know what ombre hair is, but have you ever heard of Balayge? They are very similar, but also have some key differences. Want to know which style is right for you? Need to know the deets? Stay tuned!

Balayge: This word literally means “to sweep” in French. This style is defined by sweeping highlights that create anatural, sun kissed look. The highlights are focused on the front of your hair, and gradually sweep to the back. This look is more natural looking than ombre, so if that is your cup of tea then go for it!c6fba2c81ad04adf483f3c33d282a020

Ombre: Ombre is a gradual lightening of the hair, fading from dark near the roots to lighter at the ends. Ombre can be both striking or subtle, it just depends on your preference and the stylist! Just a word of warning, ombre can be a bit rough on your hair because it concentrates the bleach on the ends of your hair, which are already the most damaged part of your hair. If you decide on this style, deep condition your hair regularly!

Have you decided which style is more “you”? If so, comment below!

How many of you lovely Insiders have naturally curly hair? I ENVY you! Curly hair is so fun and bouncy and flirty. I have some friends with naturally curly hair, and they say that it is actually quite difficult to style it and it takes some effort to get it exactly how you want it, though. So, I did my research, and I came up with a few curly hair tips for all of my curly cued Insiders out there.

  1. Don’t wash your hair every day! This may take some getting used to. The reason you don’t want to shampoo taylor-swift-long-curly-hair1every day is because scrubbing and roughing up your cuticles sets you up for major frizz and strips your hair of the natural oils, which are beneficial for all of my curly haired goddesses.
  2. Use a wide toothed comb to brush your hair when it is damp. Now, I don’t mean BRUSH it out, I mean gently comb it out. A wide toothed comb will detangle your hair while keeping your curls intact.
  3. Let your hair air dry as long as possible to prevent unnecessary volume and frizz. Blow drying and scrunching your hair can turn it into a frizzy mess, so make sure to use a diffuser if you must blow dry your locks!

Girls with curly hair wish they had straight hair, girls with straight hair wish they had curly hair, and girls with semi curly, semi straight hair wish that it would just make up its mind and pick one! What kind of hair do YOU have? Comment below and let me know!

Having tangled hair can be such a hassle. When you have long hair like me, tangles are a daily struggle. Don’t you wish you could avoid tangles all together? Here are a few ways that you can prevent your hair from tangling.

Change your shower routine: You should always finish your showers by rinsing your hair with cold water. This seals knotted_hairyour cuticles and holds the hair in place to prevent frizz and future knots.

Pat, don’t rub: Rubbing and wrapping up your hair in a towel is not a good idea. Blotting your hair dry is safer because you are not being rough with the cuticle, which leads to knots.

Get regular trims: The biggest contributors to knots are split ends. Make sure your ends are trimmed regularly. Also, dying your hair can really damage the ends and cause them to split again.

Use these tips to help keep your hair from becoming a rat’s nest!
