Fall and winter are a great time to try new things with your hair color. There are some really cool color trends making their way around this season that I really love! If you are wanting to change up your hair color but need some inspiration, look no further. Here are the top 5 hair color trends this winter.

  1. Chocolate rose gold: 2016 is the year of rose gold hair! The winter version features pink tones along with deeper brown hues up top to prevent the need for a touch-up every six weeks.how-to-go-rose-gold-without-dyeing-your-hair-blond-1934101-1476217068-640x0c
  2. Sun-kissed ombre: Even though summer is over, you can still give your look a little glow and warmth! Just ask your hairdresser to add warm honey tones throughout your hair, concentrating it more towards the bottom. This will give you a healthy glow!419327415274362148_g0nitadg_c
  3. Nude hair: There are warm tones, cool tones, and then neutral tones. Nude hair means there is a balance of both warm and cool tones, which cancel each other out to create a neutral color. Neutral colors are totally trendy and easy to wear.09e5ad2f0f2023e6c3c79f7d5f165eb8
  4. Autumn red: Red hair is always in! This year’s red tones are coppery and autumnal. To keep your red hair redder longer, avoid overusing heat tools and also use a shampoo and conditioner that are made for color-treated hair.autumn-red-hair-color-5

If you want to change up your hair, these are great options this season!

You have spent all summer growing your luscious locks out into mermaid waves, and now that fall is here, you may feel like you need a change but don’t want to give your locks a major chop. One way to do that is to change your hair’s color! Fall is a great time to a new color on your strands because you won’t have to worry about the sun changing or altering the color. Here are the hottest hair color trends this fall.

  • Cool brunette: If you have olive or cooler skin tone then this shade is perfect for you! This color is a great transition from your sun-bleached hair to a darker more “fall” look.

  • Wheat blond: This is a more natural neutral blond that includes tones of gold and beige. This hue looks good on pretty much anyone! It is a soft look due to the subtle highlights, so if you like subtle, this is a great look!

  • Exposed roots: This look is so in! It is pretty much letting your natural roots show in the most chic way possible. It takes the edge off of your roots and blends them in. This look is for everyone! It really just depends on your taste and how much or how little you want your roots to be showing. This is also an easy way to transition if you want to leave more time in between touch-ups.

  • Bronde: This trend is here to stay! It is a nice happy medium between blonde and brunette… just right! This color works best for light brown to dark brown hair types and people with warm skin tones.

Dying your hair can be fun, but it can also be disastrous! It can be messy, turn out the wrong color, or look splotchy! There is a lot of debate whether or not getting your hair dyed at a salon is actually worth it. While it is definitely more expensive than doing it yourself, the results are far better than box dye. Find out why!Chelsea Crockett- salon dye

  • Dye takes the moisture out of your hair leaving it dry and brittle. Salon dye is better quality than box dye, which is healthier for your hair. You’ll notice less split ends and a silkier result with salon dye.
  • Stylists know how to fix a mistake! There are specific products used to fix a dye mishap. Professional stylists know how to fix the problem without worsening or damaging your hair.
  • Salons are equipped with the proper tools, including foil and applicators.
  • Many people don’t know that there are multiple steps if you want to go much lighter or much darker. Most of the time, a stylist has to strip the hair of its color before the desired color can be applied. If you go straight into using the box dye, the color may turn out entirely different!
  • When dying your hair at home you have to be very careful! Dye can ruin your clothes, towels, or furniture. It’s much more powerful than you think!

Next time you want to change up your hair, stop by your nearest salon!

DIY: Lighten Color Treated Hair

Dying your hair can be scary! Although you’ve talked to your stylist and picked out the color you think best suits you, there’s always a chance that the color could turn out darker or lighter than expected.  So what do you do if your chocolate brown hair turns out black?!  Don’t worry!  There are multiple ways that you can naturally lighten your hair at home! Chelsea Crockett- clarifying shampoo

Starting with a clarifying shampoo is the best way to strip your hair of color. Now you may be wondering what clarifying shampoo is.  It’s a strong shampoo that rids your hair of impurities including product build up, oil, dirt, and coloring chemicals.  Clarifying shampoo is used the same as any normal shampoo.  For the best results, use it within the first few weeks of coloring your hair.  With each wash, your color will fade more and more.  Once your hair is back to the color you prefer, then only use the clarifying shampoo once or twice a month.

Another at-home remedy for lightening colored hair is to use vitamin C tablets! Crush a handful of vitamin C tablets and mix them with your favorite shampoo.  Comb the mixture through dry hair until your entire head is covered.  Leave it on for about one hour, but keep checking to make sure you don’t need to add more or less of the mixture to certain parts of your hair.  You want to make sure it lightens evenly.  Once the hour is up, wash your hair as you normally would.  You should see a difference immediately!

Don’t freak out if you hate your hair color! There’s always a way to fix a mistake!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Spice Up Your Hair Color!

Do you ever get sick of your hair color?  I know I do!  Of course I’ll never do anything dramatic like dye my hair blonde, but adding a hint of color is a great way to spice up your look.  Some colors are more daring than others, but in the end a slight change in color is all you need!

If you’re sick of your blonde hair, there are two really great options to change up your blonde hair color.  If you want to go lighter, try icy blonde highlights.  The highlights will add to your natural color without making your hair look too blonde, or worse…white!  If you’re looking to go darker without going brunette, adding honey highlights will do the trick!  You could even try going strawberry blonde for a more daring look.

Brunettes have a lot of options when it comes to changing up their hair color.  Adding dark or light brown highlights is an easy transition to a different shade of brown.  If you’re looking for a more daring color, try adding dark red or plum undertones to your hair.  The change won’t be too dramatic, but the colors will really stand out in the light! Chelsea Crockett- red hair When it comes to black hair, there isn’t much that can be changed; but if you want to try something really different try adding blue undertones to your hair.  This will make your black hair appear softer, but have an edge to it.

I do not recommend dying your hair on your own.  Go to a trusted salon for any of your hair color desires and talk to your parents first!

XOXO,

Chelsea
