On school days, the last thing I want to do is get up earlier than I have to in order to do my hair. I definitely lean on the lazy side when it comes to styling my hair on school mornings. But, if you are like me, you want to be able to sleep in AND have cute hair. Here are some easy options for us lazy gals!

  1. Half-up braid: Take the hair from both of your temples and pull it back. Secure the top half of your hair into a clear elastic band, then braid it. Secure the braid with another clear band, then loosen the strands a bit to give it a slightly messy look. Twist the braid around itself into a bun, then secure with bobby pins. Easy and so cute!11-flower-braid-half-up-half-down-hairstyle
  2. Easy curls: Pull your hair into a high ponytail. Split the hair into two or three sections, depending on how thick your hair is. Take one section, wrap the whole thing around the barrel of a curling wand, and let it curl. Do this to all your sections, take the ponytail down, and voila! Easy, fast curls.
  3. No heat curls: Take an elastic headband and place it on your head like a halo. Then, twist sections of your hair and wrap them around the band. Do this with all of your hair so it is all wrapped around the headband, then head to bed. Wake up, take the headband out, and you will have curls for days!
  4. Blow dry waves: If you are a gal who likes to shower in the morning, while you are blow drying your hair, twist large sections and blow dry them. This will give you easy waves and saves you time by ditching your curling iron!

Have more time for sleep AND have great hair? Sign me up!

Rock the Retro Look

Vintage & retro hairstyles are coming back with a bang! When I see pictures of women in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s I am always so jealous of their hair. They wore it in such cool ways! Luckily, lots of those styles are making a comeback! Here are a few of my favorite retro hair styles and how to style them.

  1. Tied-up updoo: If you have ever seen pictures of “Rosie the Riveter” then you know where this style came from! I love it because it is a quick, easy, adorable way to pull your hair up. It is also great for second-day hair that is looking a bit greasy. The scarf hides it! Here is how to do it: Work some texturizing spray through your hair, then curl it with a large barreled iron. Spritz with hair spray, then pin random curls into a messy bun. Tie a pretty head scarf retro 4around your head to finish it off!
  2. Retro waves: When I see this hair style I think of knee-high white leather boots and some giant bug-eyed sunglasses! Or I think of Daphne from Scooby Doo. Either one works ;). Here is how to do this look: Curl your hair with hot rollers, then use dry shampoo at your crown for some volume. Tease it a bit at the crown, and then finish with a spritz of hair spray, not too much that it looks sticky or rough!
  3. Victory rolls: This hair style makes me want to put on a poodle skirt and go to the drive-in! So retro and so classic. It gives a great ‘40s vibe and would look absolutely adorable with a full skirt, lace dress, or silky blouse. Here is how to create this look: Lightly spray texturizing spray to give your hair some grip, and then blow dry it. Part your hair down the middle, then twist one side back and pin it into place at the nape of your neck. Then repeat with the opposite side. Connect the ends, twist them back into a soft bun, and finish with a light mist of hair spray.

These styles are great for a day when you are feeling like you want to mix things up. Plus, they are all easy to do! Which is YOUR favorite retro look?

Things to Consider Before You Cut Your Hair

If you follow me on any social media, then you will know that my hair underwent a huge change recently! I got a ton of it chopped off! I now have healthy, shiny, shoulder-length hair that I am in love with. It was time for change! I had been contemplating cutting it for a long time, and I finally just went for it. There were a few things I took into account before I cut off my hair, and if you are planning on chopping your locks I suggest you contemplate a few of these, too! Here is what to consider before cutting your hair short.

  1. If you have fine hair: If your hair is on the thinner side, a “lob” or “long bob” can make your hair thicker, which is a total plus! You will have more volume because you won’t have your length weighing it down. Also, have your stylist cut your lob into soft layers to give it more movement.FullSizeRender (21)
  2. If you have thick hair: If you have thick hair, a lob or a shoulder-length cut like mine can be fun to style. You can make things interesting by playing up the texture and using different curling irons and your straightener to create different looks. You can also play with your part and experiment! A little advice, though, if you are getting a shorter cut and you have thick hair, have the stylist thin you out with a razor or thinning sheers just a bit so you don’t get a super poofy look.
  3. Will short hair suit my face shape?: The short answer? Yes! Lobs and shoulder length cuts are very versatile. You can make it work for you with the amount of layering and movement. Someone with a very square face shape will look better with a layered lob whereas someone with a longer, more oval face shape will look great with a cut that has a fringe or side-swept bangs to complement the long length of the face.

If you are on the fence about cutting your hair, I say go for it! After all, it is just hair, it always grows back. 🙂

Why is it that messy buns are harder to do than regular buns? The disheveled, effortless, “undone” look is way harder to achieve than people think. I wish I could look like I rolled out of bed with great messy hair, but I can never seem to get it right. Luckily I found a fool-proof way to get the perfect messy bun every time. Here is how!

  1. Pull your hair into a loose ponytail as high or low as you want. Don’t worry about smoothing out bumps or slicking your hair back, you want it to look imperfect.Messy-Buns-Blonde-Hair
  2. Separate the hair in your pony into 2 sections and tease them. Teasing is the key! It will change your bun game by giving you texture and volume.
  3. Take your 2 teased sections and wrap the hair in opposite directions like you are creating a topknot. Instead of pinning your hair neatly into a bun, pin bobby pins near the ends of your hair, leaving the ends splay out around the bun. This gives it the messy look! Pull the bun apart a little with your hands to mess it up even more.

The best part about messy buns is that they work better on dirty hair, so they work great on second-day hair, AKA you can sleep in longer instead of washing your hair! 🙂

I have mad respect for anyone who can pull off bangs. Like seriously, you were brave enough to try bangs, and they look great on you! My fear is that if I get bangs I am going to hate them and have to wait agonizingly long for them to grow back. Luckily there are wise people out there that know exactly what bangs look best for your face shape to save you the heartache of bad bangs. Here is a guide to which bangs are best for your face!

  1. Round: If you have a round-ish face, sideswept bangs are a great style to try out. Wearing long, layered bangs can help face_shapesoften your wider cheeks, and wearing trendy blunt, straight-across bangs can actually add some length to your face!
  2. Square: If you have this face shape, you are in good company! Heidi Klum has this shape. Longer, eye-grazing bangs that are thin and layered are best. Avoid super blunt, fringy bangs or you will appear to have a box-shaped face!
  3. Heart-shaped: Short, sideswept bangs work best for this shape! They help draw attention to your eyes.
  4. Oval: Gals with this shape are lucky! You can wear just about any bang shape. If you have thicker hair, fringy bangs are great, and if you have thinner hair face framing bangs are best.

Before you hop on the bang train, keep these shape suggestions in mind!

Air drying your hair is one way to keep it healthy. Blow drying it constantly dries it out and makes it brittle, plus the heat damages it! Air drying my hair can sometimes be a hassle, though, because it dries funny. Here are a few ways to air dry your and style it at the same time.

  1. No-frizz waves: Work some mousse into your damp hair, and then pull your hair into a big loose braid. Twist and clip the no heat wavesbraid a few inches above the crown to give your hair some lift. Take the braid out once your hair is dry. This will keep your hair from frizzing up, and it will give you even waves!
  2. Gentle waves: If you want waves framing your face, tuck your hair behind your ears as it dries and clip a metal hair pin above each ear. This will exaggerate the bend and create a face-framing wave!
  3. Textured wave: Mist damp hair with sea salt spray, then pull your hair loosely into 4 braids while it is still damp! Take the braids out when your hair is dry.
  4. Polished waves: Braid your hair into 2 loose braids before bed, clip them into twists, and then take them out when you wake up! You will have gorgeous, smooth waves.

I love that I have found ways to style my hair as it dries, it saves me so much time drying it and then styling it afterwards! I can do other things while my hair dries, and when it dries it will be wavy and styled, plus I am not damaging it with a curling iron or blow dryer!

Christmas is just around the corner, and with Christmas comes Christmas parties! With Christmas parties comes Christmas outfits, and with Christmas outfits comes Christmas hair! So, without further ado, here is a fun, pretty hair style for your Christmas party needs: the pull-through braid. PS. This style works best on thick, long hair.

  1. Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Split your hair into 3 groups once it is in the ponytail. Wrap one of the sections (a small section) around the ponytail to hide it.braid
  2. Split the section of hair underneath your ponytail in half and wrap it around to the front. Secure it with an elastic. It should look like you have a little ponytail in front of your big one. See the picture for clarification.
  3. Keeping your spacing even, continue splitting the underside hair in half and wrapping it around to the front, then securing it. Keep doing this until you have reached the length that you want your braid to be. Secure all the loose ends with an elastic.
  4. Now to my favorite part! Pull apart the sections of the “braid” to make it fuller and bigger.

I love this look because it is unique and looks so interesting from the back. If you are someone who prefers wearing their hair up or if you just want to switch things up, this hair style is great for you!

Hair Styles Without Heat or Hair Ties

Hair drama might just be the worst drama. That one piece of hair that just. Wont. Curl? Yeah. Drama! Don’t let bad hair days get you down and make you want to chop your hair off with the first pair of scissors you can find! And it may seem like there are just no good ways to style your hair without using hot tools or pesky hair ties that you can never seem to locate. Good news, there are!

  1. Pretty braids: Any kind of braid is a good way to style your hair without heat! This one obviously uses a hair tie, but it doesn’t need heat! If your hair is rebelling and poking out in every way possible when you wake up in the morning, tie it into a halo braid or into fishtail or French braids! The braid options are endless.f7d7f48662a12d93a4bf1121aa0d547d
  2. Top Knotted: This one doesn’t require a hair tie if you are skilled in the art of tying your hair in a knot, but if you have yet to master that, use a hair tie. Gather your misbehaving locks together and twist it from the base like you are twisting it into a bun, then pull the tail end through the middle of the bun with a firm tug.
  3. Dramatic side-part: While your hair is still damp, make a deep side part and shape your hair up and over the top as it dries. Tuck your hair behind your hear to help it dry in this shape. This texturized look is effortless and messy, which is totally in!

Also try no-heat curling methods for heatless waves the next day! All of the styles mentioned take barely any time and can be done without heat and minimal hair ties! Simple hair = happy life.

As you know, I am somewhat of a “no heat hair style” kind of girl. I found a totally new way to curl my hair without heat and I am totally pumped about it! YouTuber Kayley Melissa did a tutorial on it. It is called “heatless halo curls” and all you need is an old t-shirt or bandana to make these curls happen!496fb45a003fbff38c0aaee262bf84cd

  1. Make sure your hair is damp. Grab a t-shirt or bandana (I prefer to use a bandana) and twist it, tying the ends together with a pony tail holder to make it into a halo.
  2. Brush the front part of your hair forward so it is hanging in your face. Place the halo on top of your head and start wrapping your hair around the bandana or t-shirt in small sections.
  3. Once you reach the end of the section you are wrapping you should secure the end with a bobby pin. Once you have wrapped all of your hair in sections around the halo, sleep on it! Since it is on top of your head it won’t interfere with your sleep.
  4. In the morning take out all of the bobby pins and run your fingers through your hair. You will have loose wavy curls that are to die for!

I love no heat curls because it takes less than 10 minutes to prep your hair and it curls while you sleep! Easy peasy!

I am here to talk about my favorite hair trend as of right now. It is the “lob” or the “long bob” and it is taking the fashion world by storm! I love the look because it isn’t too long, isn’t too short, and is so versitile. If I wasn’t so in love with my long hair I would tooootally get a lob! Here are a few of my favorite ways to rock the “lob”!

  1. Straight and sassy: I love the straight lob because it is so polished and chic! This is a great every day look.lob 3
  2. Curly and cute: Big curls on a lob give it a cute, fun, girly flare! Because your hair is short, it will also hold a much better curl! This means your bouncy wringlets will last you aalllll day long! This hair style would make me feel totally fierce.
  3. Wavy and wild: Beach waves and loose curls are such a carefree, breezy look! This is a great running short on time kind of look because all you need to do is curl a few strands, work some sea salt spray into the rest, and you are good to go!

Which style is YOUR favorite way to wear a lob?

Hair bows should be a fashion staple in any girl’s wardrobe. Bows add innocence and class to any ensemble! There are a few choice ways to rock hair bows. Stay tuned to see how to flaunt em!

1. Up High:

The first way to wear them is with a sleek high pony! When you wear a pony tail plain, it can look kinda of boring. Kick boring to the curb by adding a hair bow! You can choose whatever size and color you want, whatever will complete your outfit!cf8dc143f579ce87cbc3ea115cfb9396

2. Down Low:

I love this look! it is so effortless. Just tease your hair and wrap it into a high bun, then add a clip-in bow to the bottom! Another way to spruce up your every-day bun is to french braid the back of your hair upside down, like the picture below, and then add a bow! So simple, so chic!fe82a11bfdb307f9c1ac7f532a90684c

3. Long and Lean:

This style works best with half-up half-down hair. Tease your crown, pull half of your hair up, then add a slender, long bow into the mix! This look is so classy, and by adding the bow you sprinkle in some pazaz and personality!Chelsea Crockett

What do you think, ladies? Think you will be adding hair bows to your routine? I hope the answer is “yes!”

Beach waves! I looove this trend! It looks so effortless and can make you look like you just came from a day at the beach. Some ways to achieve this look are to apply “Not Your Mother’s” Beach Babe spray to your hair (grab it here:http://tiny.cc/NotYourMothers_BeachSpray). It works amazing and smells like coconuts! Bonus! Another way is to loosely curl a few strands of your hair, let them cool, and then brush them out. Easy!

Low Buns! Just by pulling your hair into a bun at the nape of your neck can instantly give you a sweet, put-together look. You can do this with a regular bun, or you could even braid your hair and then twist THAT into a low bun!

Do you ever wonder what you can do with your wet hair? After a shower, trying to figure out how to style your wet hair can be sort of a challenge. If you are looking for a quick, easy way to style your wet hair then stay tuned!

What I am going to introduce you to today is blow drier waves! This hair style is super easy to do and is also super cute! All you do is comb your freshly washed, wet hair, and take a small section and twist it. The section you take should be about an inch wide. Then, blow dry the twisted section until it isuntitled pretty much dry. Before you unwind the twist, lightly hair spray the twist. After you have misted it with hair spray, unwind the twist. Repeat this process with the rest of your hair. After you are done, toss some dry shampoo through your locks to make them a little messier and wavy!

Enjoy!

Believe it or not, homecoming is just around the corner! You’ve got a lot of preparation to get to! There are so many things to think about: the dress, the group your going with, your DATE, where your going to take pictures…the last thing you want to be worrying about is your hair! I am here to help you pick out your perfect homecoming hair style, because you’ve got enough to worry about as it is!

  1. Heart shaped face: Ladies with this face shape have a broad forehead and then their face starts to taper from the cheeks photo (7)and jaw line down to the chin. I have this face shape! Since the lower part of the face is narrower compared to the upper portion, you want to draw attention to the lower part of the face. The best hair-do to help you achieve this goal is the half-up half-down look. Curl all of your hair and then pull the upper part towards the crown back while the rest falls gently around your shoulders.
  2. Round face: For my round faced babes, your goal should be to take attention away from the cheeks and ears. This will make your face not look wider than it really is! One way to do this is to draw attention up and elongate your face. A hair style that helps you do this is an intricate bun or sleek high pony tail. Never under estimate the impact of a strategically placed pony tail.
  3. Narrow or oval face: You lucky ducks have it made. The shape of your face is ideal because the proportions are just right. Truth is, you can do just about anything to your hair. The updoo that will highlight your beautifully shaped face is to pull all of your hair back into a bun. You can leave some loose wispy hairs down to give you a more wistful look if you prefer.

I hope this helps you choose which homecoming hair style is right for you! I am sure you will look gorgeous no matter what style you choose.

As the saying goes, “When you look good, you feel good”; and this is no exception to workout clothes!  As crazy as it may sound, dressing in cute, comfy active wear can actually drive you to push harder in a workout (aka resulting in a good workout).  Find out how you can easily spice up your workout outfit game in a few simple steps!Chelsea Crockett- cute workout clothes

Next time you go for a run on a hot day, ditch the cotton t-shirt.  These types of tees soak up the sweat, leaving you feeling heavier than normal.  Also, if you’re wearing a dark tee, then the sun will be more attracted to it.  Instead, throw on a dry fit tank or tee in a bright color to make you feel good and get rid of sweat faster.

Another way to feel good when you work out is to try something new with your hair.  If you prefer to wear it in a ponytail, add a bright colored headband.  If you don’t mind changing it up, try a side braid or braided ponytail.  If you’re very active when it comes to working out and do so several times a week, then investing in good workout clothes is a must.  Just like putting on a cute outfit for dinner makes you feel good, putting on a cute workout outfit will inspire you to work out more often and harder.

It’s time to spruce up your workout outfits and get active!  Nothing’s better than a good workout.

Who loves cotton candy? I am obsessed with the fluffy, magical stuff. Here is a hair style totally inspired by it! It is fun, flirty, and totally adorable! Here is how YOU can do your very own “cotton candy” bun!Cotton-Candy-E-Liquid

Tease up some of the hair at the base so that you can give your roots a little volume. Pull your hair into a high pony tail.
Spray hair spray throughout your whole pony. Tease the whole thing, make sure the whole pony tail is all teased up.
Once your hair is thoroughly teased, twist it around to make it into a bun. Take some bobby pins and secure the bun once you have twisted it up completely. Spritz the whole thing with a bit of hair spray to set it.

Viola! Now you have a cute, sweet hair style that will keep the hair off of your neck and keep you cool, but also give an innocent flare to your ensemble. Do YOU like this hair style? Comment below!
