The velvet trend is back and better than ever for the upcoming seasons of 2017!  Velvet is one of my favorite materials because it’s so soft and comfy to rock for both casual and formal occasions.  Here’s how you can hop on the velvet bandwagon this season, too!

Chelsea Crockett - Velvet Shoes

Not only is velvet back, but there’salso a new trend within the new trend! Crushed velvet seems to be the new style that’s just a little different than regular velvet.  The material is more so in patches and more “crushed” together instead of a smoother velvet. You can wear a button-down shirt with distressed jeans for the comfy look or a crushed velvet evening dress to put a spin on your outfit!

Another way to rock velvet is with your shoes!  They’re unique and give a vintage, classy allure to any outfit. Velvet heels or boots with a block heel can complete any look! Slides, high heels, sneakers, and even slippers are appearing in this holiday-centric fabric.

If you’re looking for a homecoming or formal dress, check out a velvet look whether it be a dress, romper, or jumpsuit!  It’s a perfect way to put a spin on any ordinary outfit while being stylish at the same time! 🙂 Check out what you can do with velvet and how you can make it your own with your outfits!

You may’ve read this title and thought… deodorant hacks?  Does that even make sense?  I’m here to tell you IT DOES, and there are so many different ways to use deodorant other than its original purpose.  Here are a few clever hacks that’ll give your deodorant 10x its purpose!

  • Put some deodorant on the bridge of your nose to prevent your sunglasses from slipping. You know that feeling when the sun’s beating down on your face and the area between your sunglasses and nose starts to sweat? Prevent that by swiping on a little deodorant! It’ll keep your glasses in place and stop you from sweating.
  • Apply deodorant to your mosquito bites to stop the itching. I’ve never tried this remedy until now.  It really does help!  It coats the bite and helps soothe the skin around it.  Try it out for yourself next time you have a pesky bite!
  • This one’s for the ladies! Apply a swipe of deodorant to your bra line. You all know what I’m talking about! It can be so annoying when the area between your skin and bra line starts to sweat when you’re out in the sun or working out.  I promise this trick works!
  • Put a swipe of deodorant on the backs of Chelsea Crockett - Deodorant Hacks our heels to prevent blisters. You can apply a swipe on your heels or on the back of your shoes like the picture on the right!
  • I think we can all agree that razor burns are so annoying and painful. If you get done shaving and razor burns appear, help soothe them with a swipe of deodorant!

When it comes to the products you own, sometimes you just have to think a little outside the box!  I hope these tips come in handy. 🙂

Summer 2017 Shoe Must-Haves

Shoes are my secret obsession.  I love, love, love getting a new pair of sandals or sneakers and rocking them with the perfect outfit to go along with them!  There are a few styles that are going to be extremely “in” this summer.  Here are a few so you can get a head start on your summer shoe wardrobe!

  • Ankle-wrap sandals. Chelsea Crockett - Wrap Heels I love this trend!  You can get a pair that wrap around once or several times.  It can be subtle like the picture on the right or thick ribbon that starts to wrap up your leg.  They’re all so cute and stylish!
  • Patterned heels and wedges.  I’m a pattern type of girl so bright, fun patterned shoes are my favorite.  Especially just a simple pattern that will make your outfit pop is better than nothing at all! 🙂
  • Off-white.  Although white is a timeless color that’ll never go out of style, buy an off-white pair of sandals or wedges for this summer.  Neutral colors are always good to have on hand!
  • Platform heels.  Platform heels can be tricky to walk in at times but they’re so cute!  Purchase a pair to add to your shoe wardrobe to spice up your outfits this summer!
  • Shoes with some shine.  This can be anywhere from a metallic pair of sneakers or some shiny gold heels.  These will guarantee to give your overall outfit a little pop!

Which style is your favorite?  Let me know below! 🙂

When I love a certain pair of shoes, I hate seeing them get worn out day after day.  There’s always that one favorite pair that you have to say goodbye to after so many wears!  Since I want to get the most out of my shoes and definitely get my money’s worth, here are a few shoe repair hacks that will make your shoes look good as new!

  • Use toothpaste and a toothbrush to restore whiteness to your tennis shoes.  Don’t underestimate what a little toothpaste can do!  Scrub any parts of your shoe that need some shining.Chelsea Crockett - Shoe Hack
  • Cover any scratches with nail polish.  Whatever the color of your shoe may be, apply some nail polish to camouflage any noticeable marks and scratches.  Let it fully dry before wearing them!
  • If you have a pair of suede shoes, use a nail file to get rid of any stains or scratches.  I had never heard of this hack before, but it really works!  Lightly rub the nail file against the suede to eliminate any annoying stains or scratches.
  • Believe it or not, you can get rid of scratches on leather with a little moisturizer.  If you ever wear leather, then you know it can get beat up pretty easily!  Adding a dab of moisturizer will loosen up the leather and make any scratches disappear.

Try a hack or two out for yourself!  They really work!

When it comes to dressing up nice, my shoes are usually my favorite part of my outfit to pick out, especially when I’m wearing a fun pair of heels or wedges!  Although I love rocking a simple pair of heels when I can, most of my pairs are pretty boring.  I found 3 different DIY ways you can give your heels a stylish makeover! 🙂Chelsea Crockett - Ribbon Heels

  • Use pretty ribbon that you can wrap around your ankle.  Depending on the color of your heels, pick a color that compliments them.  I suggest even using the same color ribbon as your heels to make it look more professionally done, instead of mix-match.  Since it’s hard to explain without showing you an example, you can go off the picture on the right.  Simply wrap it once around your heel, then around your ankle, and finish it off with a bow!
  • Glue on glitter on the bottom part of your heels.  Use a superglue paste to apply to the underneath of your heels and sprinkle on glitter until they’re completely covered.  Let them dry and then show em’ off!  Chelsea Crockett - Jewel Heels
  • As for thicker heels, superglue on various jewels and beads like the picture on the left.  If you purchase a super strong glue to assure that the jewels will stay put, then you shouldn’t have to worry about them falling off!  I suggest using different colors and shapes while still complimenting the original pair of heels.

Which DIY is your favorite?  Let me know below which one you are going to try out for yourself!

Prom Prep: DIY Ways to Break-in Your Heels

Prom season is right around the corner and it’s never too early to start prepping for it.  Not only is it a priority to look good on prom night, but to be comfortable, too!  I’d say the most painful part of the prom process is wearing heels for hours during pictures, dinner, dancing, etc.  I found a few DIY ways to break-in your heels that’ll make wearing them all night a piece of cake!

  • If your heels are too tight, stretch them out using ice!  Fill up two freezer bags with water and seal them tightly.  Place the bags in your heels then put them in the freezer until the water freezes.  Then, take out your heels and let the ice thaw until you can slip out the bags.  Your heels should be much looser and comfier!Chelsea Crockett - Prom Heels
  • Speaking of making your heels more comfortable, using heat to stretch out the material is your best bet!  Take a blow dryer and blast your shoes with hot air, then bend and twist your shoes while they’re still warm to loosen them up!
  • One of the worst parts about wearing new shoes is the possibility of lots of blisters… Yikes!  As weird as this might sound, try rubbing deodorant on the places on your foot where you might blister.  This will provide a small barrier to prevent any rubbing!
  • When you get a new pair of heels, the bottoms of them will most likely be slippery.  Take sandpaper and rub the bottom of your shoes with it.  It’ll give them a little grip and friction!

Which DIY are you going to try out?  I hope it helps! 🙂

Prom can be a difficult night to plan and prepare for. There are so many things you should have set even weeks or months in advance! Along with your plans, it’s a necessity to have your dress, jewelry, shoes, and everything else ready to go. Let me tell you, it can be stressful! I found and came up with some tips and hacks that will make prom flow much easier!

  • Oftentimes when I wear a pair of heels, my feet slide all over the place. Chelsea Crockett - Lipstick TipSpray your feet with hairspray, especially the heel, before putting on your shoes. This will prevent them from slipping all night long!
  • One of the most annoying things about makeup is how quickly it can fade or rub off. If you want your lipstick to last longer, add a thin layer of lipstick, then a layer of powder, followed by another thin layer of lipstick or gloss.
  • Carry a mini beauty kit in your clutch. Always have lip gloss, bobby pins, gum/mints, powder foundation, etc. Throw in whatever can fit and whatever you think could come in handy.
  • If an unexpected pimple pops up, there’s not much you can do to automatically get rid of it, but you’re not out of luck! Take an ice cube and apply it to the area for 30-45 seconds. It doesn’t get rid of it, but it reduces the redness around it and makes it less noticeable!

What prom hacks are you going to use this year? Let me know below so I can use them, too!

Make Your Feet Happy in Heels

Buying a new pair of heels is always exciting… shoes are a girl’s best friend (or is that diamonds?).  Walking in your heels for the first time is always grueling.  You can pretty much expect blisters and a sore arch.  So what do you do when you know you have to wear your new heels for a long period of time, but haven’t broken them in yet?  Check out the steps below.Chelsea Crockett- blow dry heels

  1. Slide into a pair of thick or fuzzy socks and grab a blow dryer. Try on your heels with the socks and blow dry them on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Wiggle your toes around to stretch the tip of the heel. This will allow your toes to have more room!
  2. Another way to utilize socks is to throw on a damp pair and walk around with them on in your heels. This will soften and stretch out tight heels. Walk around for a good 20 minutes.
  3. Be sure to scuff up the bottom of your heels before leaving the house! This way, you’ll have a better grip when walking and are less likely to fall.

If you follow these simple steps, you’ll be on your way to looking fabulously pain free!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Whether you’re graduating middle school, high school, or college, graduation is right around the corner!  With so many eyes on you and hundreds of pictures being taken, it’s important to have the right outfit.  It’s time to find the perfect graduation look!

Graduation is a very important event, therefore go for a dress.  When shopping for a dress, avoid anything strapless.  Go for a dress with straps and one you will be comfortable in.  Graduation Chelsea Crockett- graduation dressceremonies usually last a long time, so you do not want to constantly be pulling up your dress, especially in front of your principals and family members.  Since the weather will be transitioning from spring to summer, go for a fun colored flowy dress as well!  You don’t want to look too business professional, so opt for a dress right above the knee with a bright color or pattern!

Walking across the stage at graduation can be nerve racking, so don’t wear 6 inch heels.  Instead, go for a wedge.  Wedge heels have more support and are easier to walk in!  If you’re still worried about falling, try finding heels that have an ankle strap.  This will prevent your feet from sliding around in your shoe.

Happy Graduation!

            Hey girls!

Shimmering shoes are a definite “in” this fall.  Every outfit can use a little extra shine to make it go from ordinary to exceptional.  Not just shimmering, but metallic kicks are a way to spice up your look.  Silver shoes are super chic and perfect for balancing an attention-catching yet subtle feel to your outfit.

Chelsea Crockett - Silver ShoesIf you have a dance approaching, a perfect way to complement your dress is with silver heels.  Tying your outfit together with a metallic, silver belt will bring out the chicness of your stylish look.

Not only does this trend have to be for formal outings, but casual events, too!  Shining silver flats are a great way to complement a denim.  So make sure you grab your jeans or denim button up and rock it with a pair of metallic flats.  These shoes aren’t only for denim, but almost any autumn outfit you want to try out this season.

Although this post is mainly about shoes, shimmering purses are also a cute trend this time of year.  And hey, maybe if you’re a true fashionista, you can rock both accessories at the same timeJ!

                                                Good luck!

Hey everyone!  Because they’re cool, stylish, and easy to throw on, sandals are my favorite shoes for the summer.  You can wear them to the beach or out to a nice dinner.  With their interchangeable patterns and styles, you can be sure to find a pair to match any outfit.

Chelsea Crockett - Sandals One of my favorite type of sandal is the T-strap.  Whether you have on a sundress or shorts, you can throw on a pair to complete your look!  T-strap sandals have an enormous variety of styles from sparkles and rhinestones to a simple plain color.

If you’re going out for the night or to a special occasion, buy a fun pair of sandal heels or wedges.  These will be sure to catch people’s attention and turn their heads.  If your feet get sore easily, throw an extra pair of flats in your bag just in caseWink.

And of course you can’t forget the flip flops.  I wear flip flops almost everywhere throughout the summer.  They’re super comfortable and casual.  They are perfect for the pool or just running errands!

There are still so many more types of sandals to try out this summer.   Enjoy!
