Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, was known as the most beautiful woman in the world. She was one of the first to wear makeup, use scrubs, and soak in baths. She was pampered with natural resources from the earth and animals, which you can recreate yourself!

  • For glowing, soft skin, mix half a cup of honey, 3 cups of milk, and 5 tablespoons of olive oil and add it to a warm hot bath to soak in. It’s all about relaxation!
  • Cleopatra didn’t have primer or toner during her time, so she used rose water instead! It acts as a natural toner and primer in one! It’ll keep your skin nourished, while also helping makeup go on smoothly and last longer.
  • Vinegar circulates the blood that irritates skin. After removing makeup, try adding ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar to a sink full of warm water. Splash your face and let it air dry or healthier skin!Chelsea Crockett- henna nails
  • Ever heard of a henna tattoo? Cleopatra used henna to dye her nails! While the color wasn’t permanent, it would protect the nail and leave a long-lasting color.
  • Raw honey is skins best friend. It has antibacterial properties, slows aging, treats acne, and creates glowing skin. Try a raw honey mask!

Whoever said old people (like hundreds of years old) don’t know what they’re talking about it is totally wrong!!

Tattoos are very trendy right now. Although I can appreciate a pretty tattoo, I don’t want one myself. Just a little too permanent for me! I love that there are temporary options for people like me who don’t want to fully commit to a tattoo! Here are a few of my favorite temporary tattoo methods that will allow you to express yourself in a non-permanent way!

Flash tattoos: Flash tattoos are all the rage recently! They are metallic temporary tattoos that come in a variety of shapes and patterns. I like to wear them to concerts or out with friends when I want to feel edgy or to add some uniqueness to my ensemble! When I was out in LA for BeautyCon I saw SO many girls wearing flash tattoos!tumblr_n9qd2924oM1toza49o1_500

Henna: I love henna tattoos because they last a lot longer than flash tattoos and other temporary tattoos and you can make super fun patterns with them! I love how boho I feel when I have a trendy henna tattoo.

DIY tattoos: There are also cool diy temporary tattoos like the “Sharpie and hairspray” one! Draw your desired design onto your skin with a Sharpie. Wait for the marker to dry completely and then rub baby powder onto the design. Spray the tattoo with hairspray and you are all set!

So, if you want the fun expression of a tattoo without the permanence, try these fun temporary tat ideas!

Have any of you ever received a henna tattoo? They are created by putting a paste on your skin in a design, letting it sit, and then washing it off to find a temporary “tattoo” on your skin. When I was scrolling through Pinterest the other day, I stumbled across something very peculiar. A woman was applying green lipstick to her lips, and it was turning her lips red. Whaaaat?! This magical product, my friend, is called henna lipstick. Let me explain the magic to you.

Henna lipstick reacts to your body’s chemistry and turns a certain shade of red/pink depending on your body download-680x390temperature and your mood. The main ingredient, Red 27, is what reacts to your body’s pH and temperature to create a unique shade that is different for each wearer, and it stains the lips for hours. The color that the henna lipstick gives you is totally unique to you, which means it is literally your perfect color because your body is the one that chooses it! It is also super cool because you don’t leave red or pink lipstick marks all over everything and it doesn’t smudge because it goes on clear.

You can find this miracle product on eBay! I am so excited to try it out.

Henna tattoos have been around for decades.  For those of you who haven’t heard of henna, it’s an ink that is modernly used for temporary tattoos.  Some women in the 19th century first used the ink to dye things such as hair, skin, and clothing!  It’s a beauty statement unlike any other!

Chelsea Crockett - Henna DesignHenna ink can last anywhere between 1 to 4 weeks, depending on where you buy it or where you get it done.  When you first apply it or get it applied, the ink is a thick dry paste.  After a few hours, the paste is scraped off, leaving a design stained onto your skin!  The ink is light brown at first, but darkens to a black as the days go on.

You can even buy henna ink and do it yourself!  There are several stores that sell Henna, you just have to look around at different indie/earthy stores.  Usually it’s not too expensive and the quality is pretty good!  Some come with stencils or you can come up with your own design.  If you’re not the most artistic person, you can get a henna tattoo done professionally!  You can look up henna stands nearby or other places you can get them done.  They’re super cute and fun to have for a couple of weeks!

Enjoy! – Chelsea
