Hair trends are like any other trend, they stay for a season or two then get replaced by even better ones!  This fall, there are a few upcoming looks that you just might have to try out for yourself!  Here are 5 hair trends you should know about for the upcoming season!

  • Caramel Brown.  Chelsea Crockett - Rose HairWinter is usually the time to go darker rather than lighter with your hair.  But if you don’t want to go too dark, go with a soft, caramel brown!  You can still switch up your look without going too out of your comfort zone.
  • Rose.  If you’re willing to get a little out of your comfort zone, try out a dusty rose color.  Pastel hair has become a trend in the past few years so why not hop on the bandwagon and try it out for yourself!
  • Red Accents/Highlights.  I’ve always been a little tempted to try this trend out for myself.  You can get a subtle red tint or go for a full head of vibrant, red highlights.  Whatever suits you best!
  • Bold Brown.  Instead of adding subtle brown highlights, be bold and go for a dark, chocolate brown.  Why not, right?!
  • Blonde Lowlights.  If you want something a little more natural, try blonde lowlights.  Although you can only get these if you’re already blonde, they give you that darker tint that’s perfect for the winter!

Be daring this fall and give one of these a try!  Hey, you can always dye it back right? 🙂

Coloring your hair is a huge commitment. When you walk out of the salon, your hair is on fleek, but after a few weeks the color starts to fade and your roots grow out. A lot of stylists recommend touching up your color every 8-10 weeks, and that is expensive! Plus, it is rough on your hair. Here are a few ways to make your highlights last longer so you don’t have to touch them up so often.FullSizeRender (16)

  1. Go for balayage: When you get balayge highlights the stylist makes them look more natural. The highlights don’t go all the way up to your roots, so you can’t tell when they are growing out. Also, choose a shade of highlights that is only a few shades lighter than your natural hair color, because subtle highlights are way easier to maintain!
  2. Try “babylights: This highlight trend focuses on natural highlighting. They are like the highlights you got as a kid from playing out in the sun! This trend focuses on brightening up the hair right by your face to give you a sun-kissed look, then fades the highlights throughout your hair for a natural look. These aren’t so obvious when they grow out.
  3. Wash less: Shampooing your hair less helps maintain your color. Try shampooing every other day and using dry shampoo on the days in between. Also, good color starts with healthy hair, so by keeping your hair moisturized and healthy, you can help it hold the color longer.

Hopefully this helps you keep your highlights and color longer! I’m all about saving time and money.

When summer comes around, I sometimes have an urge to go blonde. Not totally blonde, just blond-er. The problem is that highlights are pretty pricey, and who has time for a trip to the salon when there is so much fun to be had in the summer months? If you want your hair to have a beachy, sun-kissed look this summer, here is the natural way to do so!

  1. Create your own salt spray: Mix a bit of salt with water, spray it on your hair (which opens the cuticle), and then go lay in the sun. This will fade your hair into a lighter color.images (1)
  2. Grab some lemon juice: Before heading out into the sun, add some lemon juice to your strands. The acid in the juice opens your cuticle, same as the salt water example above, leaving it open to the sun’s rays.
  3. Mix lemon and orange: If you are going for more golden, subtle highlights, mix orange and lemon juice together and do the same steps as above.

These DIY highlight concoctions are so easy to make, and fun to implement! Spray stuff on my hair, then go lay in the sun? Easy peasy.

Do you ever get sick of your hair color?  I know I do!  Of course I’ll never do anything dramatic like dye my hair blonde, but adding a hint of color is a great way to spice up your look.  Some colors are more daring than others, but in the end a slight change in color is all you need!

If you’re sick of your blonde hair, there are two really great options to change up your blonde hair color.  If you want to go lighter, try icy blonde highlights.  The highlights will add to your natural color without making your hair look too blonde, or worse…white!  If you’re looking to go darker without going brunette, adding honey highlights will do the trick!  You could even try going strawberry blonde for a more daring look.

Brunettes have a lot of options when it comes to changing up their hair color.  Adding dark or light brown highlights is an easy transition to a different shade of brown.  If you’re looking for a more daring color, try adding dark red or plum undertones to your hair.  The change won’t be too dramatic, but the colors will really stand out in the light! Chelsea Crockett- red hair When it comes to black hair, there isn’t much that can be changed; but if you want to try something really different try adding blue undertones to your hair.  This will make your black hair appear softer, but have an edge to it.

I do not recommend dying your hair on your own.  Go to a trusted salon for any of your hair color desires and talk to your parents first!

Chelsea

If you all have kept up with my YouTube channel lately, you’ve seen that I have been doing a buy and try series. Each month I buy certain products and then, you guessed it, try them out :)! For the month of April, I decided to take a break from buying and spending, and only review the products I tried out last month. Here are some of my absolute favorites!

  • Essie nail polish. I absolutely LOVE this brand of polish. It’s long lasting and doesn’t chip off easily like other brands. My favorite color atChelsea Crockett - Essie the moment is called “Lady Like.” The color payoff is ahhh-mazing.
  • TRESemme Anti-Breakage Conditioner. I liked this conditioner a lot, but I only got to experiment with it for a short amount of time. For the time I had it, it worked really well and I definitely recommend it!
  • Nature Valley Crunch Granola Bars. Don’t even get me started on these! Five out of Five stars for this product. I’m obsessed!
  • Vanilla plus Lavender Candle. This candle, by Patriot Candles, is from Walgreens and its smell is SO relaxing! I love burning it before I go to sleep. It’s not too strong but leaves a sweet smell in the room.

Make sure you hop over to my YouTube channel and watch the April Buy & Try video for more reviews on other products!  Links to the above products are below!

Getting tired of your current look? Want to freshen things up? Here are 3 quick, simple ways to update your look!

1. Switch up your hair color. Now this doesn’t mean dyeing it electric blue or getting purple streaks in it. What I mean is to make a subtle change, such as highlights or low-lights. A simple, cheap way of giving yourself natural highlights is to squeeze lemon juice on your strands! Once you have applied the juice, lay out in the sun and let the lemon juice do its work!Chelsea Crockett lemon highlights

2. Change up your part. If you normally part your hair on the side, then try sporting a middle part, or vice versa! By changing up your part, you are giving your hair a break from the normal routine. Try experimenting with different parts with different hairstyles to see which one looks best on you!

3. Work those brows. Did you know you can alter your entire look just by switching up your brow shape? Well it’s true! If you normally have rounded brows, you can pencil them in to have a straighter shape. By using a brow pencil you can make your brows into any shape you want! It is amazing how much your brows can alter your whole look.

These tips can give you a fresh new look for the new school year! All of these suggestions are super cheap, super easy, and super quick! Just all around super! If you have any questions about these tips, leave comments below!
