Winter is the best season for fun, creative date nights.  There are so many different things you can do to get in the holiday spirit with your boyfriend or girlfriend… while saving money at the same time!  I came up with a few different date ideas that are inexpensive yet a good time for you and your crush!

  • Have a hot cocoa date. Go to your nearest grocery store and pick out different flavors of hot chocolate.  Make a variety of hot cocoa, make some cookies, and curl up on the couch!  Maybe even put on your favorite Christmas movie. 🙂
  • Do a surprise gift exchange at the mall. Set a budget and a time limit and have some fun!  Go back home and exchange your gifts with each other.  It’s not too expensive, but you still get to give and receive a gift!
  • Decorate your Christmas tree together. What’s a better way to get in the Christmas spirit than decking the halls!  Invite your boyfriend over, turn on some Christmas tunes, and set up some decorations!
  • Build a fort. Okay, this might sound super cheesy but it’s actually so fun… and not to mention, free!  Make some popcorn, pick out a movie, and chill out.  Why not channel your inner kid again?
  • Go on a horse drawn carriage ride. These are so fun and the perfect winter date!  If you live near a big city, bundle up and go for a ride.  It’s not too expensive and you get to enjoy the view of the city, too!

Which date idea are you going to try out?  Tell me in the comments below! 🙂

After the major amounts of delicious food I devoured over Thanksgiving and now Christmas, I feel very much like frosty the snowman. Bloated and fluffy. It feels not-so-good. I would MUCH rather feel tight and toned! I was looking for a way to detox all of the guck I ate over break out of my system and start of the year fresh and healthy, and that is when I found this yummy holiday detox!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1-2 cups of stem-less kale
  • 1 cup apple cider (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup of ice/water
  • Dash of cinnamon1425862737615

Blend all of these ingredients together until the mixture is smooth. If you want a juice-like texture, use water. If you want more of a smoothie-like drink, go for ice. If you want some extra healthy protein, toss in a handful of your favorite nuts before blending! Just an FIY, the drink will naturally separate as it sits, so there may be a layer of foam at the top of the drink after sitting a while. Just stir it up and drink it down!

I’m ready to detox and feel fresh again. Are you?

XOXO, Chels

My Top 3 Types of Christmas Cookies!

What’s a better way to celebrate the holiday season than with good food…..COOKIES that is!  My family loves spending time in the kitchen together baking all types of Christmas cookies. However, our top three choices are sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, and snicker doodles.

Sugar cookies are made with a super sweet, delicious dough. You can use a multitude of different cookies to make fun shapes!  Roll out the dough and make whatever shapes you have (stockings, angels, snowflakes, etc.). After baking, decorate the cookies using colored icing, sprinkles, and red hots!  Of course, my family tries to see whose iced cookie looks the best. A little friendly decorating competition is always fun!

Peanut butter blossoms are made with a dough that has a little bit of peanut butter in it. (You can get these recipes off of google anytime!)  Roll the dough into balls then roll them in sugar. After baking for a bit, pull them out of the oven and stick a Hershey’s kiss right in the middle of the cookies. Then, continue baking for a bit longer.  They are delicious and are probably eaten faster than any other cookies in the house!Chelsea Crockett - Snicker Doodles

Last, but not least, are snicker doodles!  These yummy cookies are rolled in cinnamon and sugar and baked to perfection. They have an ingredient called cream of tartar in them that makes the cookie crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside!  They’ll definitely make your mouth water.

What’s your favorite cookie to bake? Let me know below!

The holiday season isn’t only the time for presents and delicious cookies, but for ugly Christmas sweater parties, too! You never know if your crush or secret admirer may be there :). So, apart from the “ugly sweater” part, you may want to look cute and not-so-casual on top of it. Here are some way some ways to dress up your ugly sweater!

  1. Preppy. When people ask for fashion advice, I always give the same answer. Be yourself! So, if you’re that Chelsea Crockett - Ugly Sweaterpreppy girl that’s obsessed with heels and jewelry, show it! Tuck your sweater into a high waisted skirt that matches it. Then, throw on a chunky necklace and a pair of heels or flats!
  2. Edgy. For this look, combat boots are a must. Whether they’re studded out or just plain black, rock them with a pair of ripped jeans! If you have a crop sweater, try that out, too. Then complete your look with a beanie!
  3. Casual. Maybe the party you’re going to isn’t much of a party but a more causal event such as a gift exchange with your friends! Throw on the classic leggings, tall socks, and UGGs. Finish your outfit off with an oversized Christmas sweater!
  4. Formal. If you’re planning on dressing up a little for your occasion, try out a sweater dress. They’re not only stylish but comfy as well!

Besides the obvious Christmas tunes and fresh baked cookies, there are so many things I love about the holiday season. One of which, is decking the halls at my house! Not only that, but getting to decorate my room however I’d like as well! This year, I’ve thought up a few ideas to make my room as seasonal as possible. Here are a few that I came up with:

  • When you think of Christmas decorations, what are the first things you think of? Lights! If you have any spare ones at home, set them up in your room! You can put them anywhere you’d like. They’re both calming and cozy :).Chelsea Crockett - DIY Decorations
  • Another decoration that’s in almost every house is a Christmas tree! Not that you have to set up a full-sized tree in your room, but there are many stores where you can purchase a mini tree that’s perfect for your bedroom. You can even buy a tree that matches your room… It doesn’t always have to be green :)!
  • If you’re bored and have time to do a little DIY, this one is creative. Remember when you were little and used to make snowflakes out of paper? Well you can do the same with coffee filters and tape them to your windows like the picture on the right!
  • Another DIY that could be fun for you and your friends, is painting the first letter of your name in Christmas colors and decorating it! For me, I would buy a wooden “C” that I could paint green with red polka dots. Then I could outline the dots in silver glitter! You could strap on some ribbon and hang it from your door handle!

If you have another creative way to decorate your room, share with me below!

Searching for and picking out gifts can be surprisingly difficult, especially when you don’t know who’s going to get it! Gift exchanges are fun, but tough to actually find the gift you’re going to bring. No worries… I’m here to help! Here are a few suggestions I came up with:

  • FOOD! Who doesn’t love food? There’s a huge variety of Christmas treats that are perfect for a little present. Cookies, cake pops, or peppermint brownies are just a few examples of sweets you can whip up!Chelsea Crockett - Peppermint Scrub
  • As you know, I’m obsessssssed with DIYs. There are several “do it yourself” recipes for scrubs and other body products that are inexpensive and perfect for a gift. One of my favorites is the peppermint body scrub, it’s perfect for the season :)!
  • When you think of winter, what’s one of the first things you think of? For me, I think of hot coffees and hot chocolates. You can buy a cute and creative mug and fill it with packets of different types of hot drinks!
  • Since clothes and shoes are out of the picture for exchanges, makeup or nail polish is a good replacement!  You don’t have to find the right size or spend a lot of money. It’s simple and a necessity for any girl :)!

The holidays are a big travel day for most people. Are YOU traveling anywhere soon? If so, check out these handy packing tips!

1. Make a list of everything you need to pack and check it regularly as you are packing. Add your essentials to the list first, and then you can add extra items to the list once you have the important stuff down. This allows you to make sure you don’t leave any precious cargo behind!

2. Check the weather of your destination so you can know exactly what to pack! You don’t want to pack a parka if you are headed to Hawaii! Duh! Just make sure you are prepared for whatever weather the destination may throw at you.chelsea crockett packing

3. Organize your belongings so it is quick and easy to unpack and find just what you are looking for. Pack things that are not super important on the bottom of your bag, and then pack things that you know you will need right when you get there on the top. Genius!

I hope that you have safe travels and that you have a safe journey wherever life takes you this Holiday season!

I LOVE decorating for Christmas! It is just one of the many reasons I love the holiday season. I came across an awesome DIY that I think you all are going to love! It adds sparkle to any mantle!

What you will need:

-100 mini lights

-1 canvas

Chelsea Crockett

1. Lay your canvas down on the floor or a flat surface and draw whatever pattern you want on the back of the canvas with a pencil. I chose to draw a snowflake-ish pattern on mine. Make sure you keep the pattern a little further apart to leave room for the lights. You can use an ice pick to poke the holes in the canvas where you made the pencil marks. Be careful though, ice picks are sharp suckers!

2. Poke the tip of the lights through the holes you have made in the canvas. You can secure the lights in the holes with hot glue if you want. The picture below shows what a hot mess the back of the canvas will look like, but it also shows how awesome it looks from the front! Prop this sucker up on your mantle, add some garland and a few sparkely accent pieces, and you will have the best looking mantle on the block!
