Emotions are a crazy thing. One moment you’re happy, the next moment you’re sad; one second you’re loving life, the next you’re angry at the world. What is going on?! Learning how to balance emotions is tricky, but it can be done. Once you’ve learned how to control the way you feel, life will be a much happier place!Chelsea Crockett- worry

  1. When I am feeling stressed, upset, or unappreciated I always turn to my Bible. It reassures me that I am loved, taken care of, and that God will take care of anything that is worrying me.
  2. Make a list of everything you are thankful for. Every time you are sad or angry, read the list. You will realize how much you should be grateful for.
  3. Surround yourself with people that lift you up! If you notice a friend that is always negative or putting you down, it’s time to drop them. If they aren’t doing anything to benefit your life, it’s time to move on.
  4. Go for a run! Running releases endorphins, which, in the simple sense, makes your brain happy.
  5. Take time for yourself. I understand that school, work, sports, family, and friends can be a lot to handle at once, but it’s important to take time to breathe. Set aside 30 minutes to 1 hour a day to watch your favorite show, do a DIY project, or just hangout!

Life is good, so let’s spend it happily!

When life throws a loop at you, it can be easy to question God.  Why does he take people we love away from us?  Why did I just lose my job?  Why are my friends being mean?  Situations like these can make God’s love feel almost invisible.  One must always remember that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.  While it may seem hard to believe, God is always right next to you fighting these battles.  You are never alone and God’s love never fails.  When you start to question this, keep these in mind: Chelsea Crockett- Gods love

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 5:8 – “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  God loves us at our darkest.

1 John 3:1 – “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  He has a plan!

1 John 4:19 – “We love, because He first loved us.”

Mathew 6:34 – “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  God will take your worries for you.

God is good and his love endures forever!

Stress can consume our lives. It can make us forget about the joy that lies throughout our day.  Even the biggest blessings can get overlooked, because stress consumes our thoughts, actions, and outlook on life.  The Bible says not to be stressed or anxious about anything, but to pray and give thanksgiving to God.  We are all too blessed to be stressed!Chelsea Crockett- bible verses for stress

Have you ever been in a situation where you didn’t even realize something great happening in your life, because you were too busy stressing? Suppose it’s the night before your big test, but you were too busy fighting with your boyfriend or girlfriend to study.  When you walk into class the next day, you’re too worked up to even realize that the test was postponed.  You overlook the blessing of the test being cancelled and continue dwelling on the fight.  Small blessings can have a huge impact, even though they might seem minimal.  Every time something like this happens it’s God’s way of saying, “I’ve got your back.”

Challenge yourself to thank God more for the blessings he has put in your life rather than stress out about anything. There’s nothing on this earth that can override God’s blessings.  He is SO good!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Hey insiders!  As you guys know, I am a very strong Christian and have an amazing relationship with God.  Being involved in my church and youth group has impacted my life in such a positive way that I wanted to share the importance of it with you all.

Going to church regularly is a great habit and it’s never too late to start.  Whether you’re 10 or 80 years old, joining a church and getting to know Jesus will completely change your life.  Going every Sunday builds your relationship with God and expands your faith in the Lord.Chelsea Crockett - Bible

Now if you’re in your teenage years, joining your church’s youth group is an awesome way to meet new friends and develop an even stronger bond with God.  The people in church are perfect to surround yourself with because they influence you in the best Christian-like ways.  Some youth groups are lucky enough to go on mission trips and spread the Word of God even farther.  Some missions provide help to certain communities.  Others simply go and tell people what Jesus did for us and what he continues to do for us every day.

If you don’t have a “home” church, or one you go to every Sunday, try to visit some surrounding churches and see which service is best for you.  It’s okay to try different locations to see which one fits you.  I have been blessed to find such a great church and youth group to grow with God in and I hope you all will, too!

“Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to his excellent greatness!” Psalm 150:2

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

christian_cross_fish_150If you’re asking whether angels have feelings, the answer is yes.  Angels have feelings just as people do and just as God does.  Many Bible passages tell of angels rejoicing whenever someone first believes in Jesus.  Other tell of angels singing songs of gladness and praise to God.

Angels can also think.  The Bible says they can tell the difference between good and evil.  Satan and his demons used to be good angels, but they choose to do evil.  The Bible also says that angels care about us and that they helped Jesus.

But angels don’t have real hearts because they don’t have physical bodies.

Recently, I’ve been hearing a lot of positive things from a book called Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.  This devotional is filled with an uplifting devotion for each day of the year.

Chelsea Crockett - DevotionalThe best thing about each devotion is that they’re written in the perspective of him talking to you.  It seems as if he’s directly speaking to you which makes the book on a more personal level.  If you want to build your relationship with God, this is the book to do it!

Each page has a date following with a devotion and several Bible verses.  It seems that whenever you read it, it applies to whatever situation you may be going through.  Each page has new words of hope, confidence, and encouragement, which are a few things every teen needs to hear throughout their stressful, busy days.  The verses at the end of each devotion are perfect to read in the mornings to start off your day on the right foot.  If you want a more personal connection with God, Jesus Calling is the right way to go.

christian_cross_fish_150The Bible is God’s Word.  When we read it, we learn what God is like and how he wants us to live in this world.  Think of the Bible as an instruction book, like the one for the family car.  If we do what the book says, the car will run right.  If something goes wrong, we can read the book and find out how to fix it.  The Bible is God’s instruction book for our lives.  We need to read and study it so that we will run right and so God can fix things that go wrong with us.  It’s not enough just to read the Bible; we also must do what it says.

The best way to make friends is to be friendly.  In other words, you should be the kind of person that others would like to have as a friend.  Think about what you like in a friend and be that kind of person to others.  This probably will mean showing interest in others, not just thinking and talking about yourself.  And you should be a godd listener–everyone wants a friend who will listen carefully to what they say and take them seriously.  To have a friend, be a friend.

Key verse: Proverbs 18:24

Have you ever thought about how precious and special you are to God?  Many of us spend time feeling like we are not what we need to be.  We often compare ourselves to other people and assume something is wrong with us.  There is, however, a way to stop that negative thinking.  It is positively and frequently thinking and saying “God loves me unconditionally.”  God loves us and views us as being accepted and blameless.  Knowing God loves us unconditionally is a necessity to make progress in our walk with Him.Chelsea Crockett - God's Unconditional Love

Our relationship with God should be based on love and acceptance, not fear.  The enemy wants us to be focused on what’s wrong with ourselves.  But knowing we are accepted and loved even in our imperfection is such a relief.  God’s unconditional love gives us confidence, boldness, and fearlessness.  When you go to bed at night, repeat to yourself “God loves me unconditionally and through faith I am made right in His eyes.”  Add some power to your life and meditate on God’s Word!

Blessings,

Chelsea

As sweet summer time comes to an end, I always find it important to reflect on all of the amazing memories I have from summer vacation.  This summer is no exception and one that I will never forget!  Come with me as I take you on a journey through my 2014 summer reflection.

Spending time with my family and friends is one of my biggest priorities!  This summer my friends and I went four-wheeling which was a total blast!  For those of you that don’t know me, I am a total freak when it comes to adventure and ATVs!  I love the rush and excitement.  I also got to go horseback riding and bungee jumping in Tennessee with my family and friends, which I absolutely loved!  It was so beautiful everywhere and I made sure I soaked in every moment.

As for my YouTube career, getting to work with Seventeen magazine on my #17before17 series was such an amazing Chelsea Crockett- #17before17experience!  I got to do so many things I never would’ve imagined and stepped out of my comfort zone.  Last but not least, giving back to God is what I live for.  I got to go on a mission trip to Kentucky which brought me closer to Christ.  I was able to bring joy to children who needed a little lift in their spirit.  It was moving!

God has blessed my family and I tremendously and I hope He continues to do great things in my life!  I challenge you to jot down your favorite summer memories and a few things you’re thankful for on a piece of paper.  It’ll be a reminder of how blessed of a summer you had!

Love,

Chelsea

Have you ever found yourself in one of those amazing situations where you can’t believe that something just happened!  Imagine this: You had your final English paper due in the morning, but were up all night listening to your parents fight.  You weren’t able to finish the paper, because all of the turmoil in your house.  As you walk into class, prepared to tell the teacher that you didn’t finish, your teacher decides to move the due date.  Amazingly, you have an extra 2 days to finish your paper!  Is this a coincidence?  No, this is God winking at you.Chelsea Crockett- God Wink

A God wink is like a coincidence.  When God sees you’re in need of Him, He delivers.  God really does take care of you when you follow Him.  This is the best part about being a believer!  Think about those times when your grandpa gave you a wink from across the dining room table.  You knew that that was a reminder that he loves you and is thinking about you.  It’s the same with God!  It’s an answered prayer that leaves you speechless.  These God winks are little messages of reassurance that He loves us, cares for us, and will always be there for us.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

Not every choice we make is either right or wrong. Sometimes we just like certain things more than others–such as ice cream flavors.  If you like strawberry, it isn’t right or wrong–It’s just something you like.  Or you might have two toys to play with, and you choose one over the other.  Both would be all right, but you chose one.  At other times, we have to choose between what is good, what is better, and what is best.  None of those choices would be bad or wrong, but we would be wise to choose what is best.  In choices like those, parents and other wise people can give us good advice.  Some choice are either right or wrong, but not all choices are.

Key verses: 1 Corinthians 10:23-24

This past week, I’ve been reading a book by Louie Giglio, titled, I AM NOT BUT I KNOW I AM. Something that hit me hard right away is when he talks about two archenemies of the heart- stress and meaninglessness.
i am not but i know i am I’m sure many of you can relate to what it’s like as a mother to take on the weight of the world, like it’s something we are supposed to do. We feel like we have to be all things to all people. Louie says, “If we knowingly or unknowingly, view ourselves as the source of all things of all people, we slowly lose peace of mind and find ourselves staring at the ceiling late into the night trying to figure out how to hold it all together and/or medicating ourselves just to make it through the day. ” He then goes onto say, “Why? Because the human frame wasn’t created to carry the weight of the world. That’s why, in the end, stress kills. It kills laughter. Extinguishes hope. Cracks relationships. Squashes dreams. Robs health. And steals God’s praise.”

The other archenemy he talks about is meaninglessness. He says, “Meaninglessness woos us into spending our one shot life on insignificant and trivial things. Our days become filled with drama over the ridiculous: our complaints fly free at the small challenge or difficulty: our energy and wealth are consumed by what is fleeting; and our chatter becomes dominated by events, people, and things that won’t last much longer than the morning mist.”

While reading this book, I thought about a time after college, when I decided that I wanted to get my “husband to be”, a nice gift to go in his office. I decided on a framed ‘Old Map of the World’. It would be the nice touch to the place where he spent most of his time. There was only one stipulation to this idea. It was a 2500 piece puzzle that had to be put together, glued, and fitted for a special sized frame. So being the Ultimate Ambassador, who up until that point had majored in delegating difficult jobs, I asked my oldest sister, Deb, to help me with this task. After all, I would never have the patience to see how all of those pieces fit together by myself. I told her that I would pay her to put it together. Little did we know, after all the hours it took her, she would discover a missing piece upon completion. So, she, in her most frustrated voice, asked what she should do. So being the lovely little sister that I am, I told her to get another one and to find the missing piece in the new box. After many, many hours of looking, she discovered that the new puzzle was cut differently than the original one. Therefore, she would never be able to find the missing piece!

Why do I tell you this story, you might ask? Well, to get to this point. I’ve been searching for the missing piece for so long, but the missing piece is evident. Louie Giglio says, “To both stress and meaninglessness, this book says, “Enough! Enough of little lives led by little people, crumpling under the weight of stress. And enough of empty ambition masquerading as something grand yet marked by the numbing effects of a vacant heart. And more important, this book bids, “Welcome to the story of God!”

Several years ago, I was talking to an older lady who experienced deep pain in her marriage. I was very inquisitive about her life and her experiences. I asked her what it was like to lose her husband. I asked her if she thought that it was the right choice for her life. She said, “I don’t know. I’ve never known anything different.” She then paused, and  said, “But,….it was like I had been working on this very, very, large puzzle with someone, and when we were just about finished with it,….. he just quit.”

While this woman knew nothing about the family heirloom that still hangs in our office, I knew this moment was very significant. I thought about how, in many ways, I’ve not been willing to even pick up the first piece. But, it was at that moment, that I knew that I would begin trying harder and harder than I would at anything else to pick up the pieces. After many prayers from family and friends, as well as some very hard work, I’ve come to know this. “God is really, really, BIG! He is the beginning and the end. He is the Alpha and the Omega.”

And, for those of you wondering what happened with our “Old Map of the World”, with the missing piece, …… my sister inserted a similar looking piece of the cardboard box, into the area where the real one should be. It is quite the conversation piece, still, after all these years. In fact, if you ever come to see it, I’d be happy to tell you about it, as well as what we have come to know as our missing piece of our puzzle. It’s a story of loving, caring, and forgiving God.

Mama.

Did God make people in outer Space?

Although people may talk about creatures in outer space, no one really knows whether there is life on other planets. Most of the talk about other life forms comes from make-believe movies

christian_cross_fishAlthough people may talk about creatures in outer space, no one really knows whether there is life on other planets.  Most of the talk about other life forms comes from make-believe movies and what people imagine might be true.  But if there is life in other parts of the universe, God is in charge of it because God is in charge of the whole universe.  God created everything, and he is the God of all life everywhere, no matter where it may be.

A time to get away with family, to play and talk, with no interruptions, no cell phones ringing, no deadlines, and no normal pressures of everyday life……….. those times are few and far between.  As many families take time to get away over the spring and summer, I feel blessed to be able to spend time with mine.   We are all anticipating a time of sunshine, sand, shopping, roller coasters, talking and eating at restaurants we’ve never been to, and just being content in being together.

We celebrate these times, because the memories that we create are priceless.  They serve as the highlights of a child’s life.  Good memories are much like God’s love during a severe storm in our lives.  God gives us his word to help us when things go wrong in our lives.  His word is still living and breathing, as time goes by.  While knowing God’s word is important, he is never impressed by our intellect, but he is moved by our heart and our faith.
the-abc's-by-Chelsea-Crockett

There have been several times in my life when his word has carried me through a storm- one that seems to never end is more bearable because of God’s promises.  Jeremiah 29 says,

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Whether you are going through a storm or are on vacation with your family, God’s story remains the same.  Some say that being a Christian, is as easy as learning the ABC’s.

A Admit that you are a sinner
B Believe that Christ is the lord
C Confess him before men
D Deny yourself and follow him
E Enjoy being a child of God
F Forgive your enemies so your father will also forgive you
G Glorify your father who is in heaven
H Honor your father and mother
I Ignore Satan when he comes to deceive you
J Judge not
K Keep working for Jesus
L Leave your past behind you
M Marvel Not
N Never go to sleep with hatred toward your brother
O Obsess yourself with the word of God
P Provide food for the hungry
Q Quit serving the things of this world
R Respect God and the things of God
S Sell your soul to God
T Tell your friends about Jesus
U Unite yourself with other Christians
V Venture into strange lands spreading the word of God
W Witness to others
X X-ray your heart every day
Y Yearn to see God
Z Zone the devil out of your life

When we go through storms, we can choose to use that storm to help others.  This week, I’m recommending a book titled, Reflections from the Pit , by Cindy Winters.  Reflections from the pit by Cindy Winters- www.chelseacrockett.comFour years ago, our minister, Fred Winters was shot and killed during our Sunday morning service.  The gunman also stabbed two others before being subdued.  Since then, his wife, Cindy Winters and their two daughters have been on a roller-coaster of healing. Four years later, she holds no grudges against the man who killed her husband.   She has since then shared how her youngest daughter told her that she hopes that the guy who did this to her daddy learns to love Jesus. What an amazing testimony of love, faith, and forgiveness!

While we can’t imagine something like this happening to our family, we can imagine some of the feelings that go along with difficult times- grudges, resentment, and bitterness.  But forgiving really does free us up in our minds to move forward and to become the person we are supposed to be.  It doesn’t mean that we forget what happened, feel less alone, at times, but it does mean that we will let go of the hard feelings and move on or start over.

If you are interested in purchasing Cindy Winters book, Reflections from the Pit , it is on her website, Grace and Hope Ministries.org or you can also purchase from Amazon.com here:http://tiny.cc/ReflectionsFromThePit
