How to Pray for the USA

It is hard to live in the times that we do, where the news is always reporting critical stories and everything seems to be going down the drain, and not worry about the state of our country. I try not to get too wrapped up in it, but sometimes it can be overwhelming and discouraging to listen to what is happening in our cities and our country at large. If you are concerned about the beautiful country that we live in, pray for God’s Kingdom to come and His will be done. Here are a few verses to pray that will help you lift our nation up.

  1. Pray for God to heal our country and forgive the sins of our nation.
  • 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
  1. Pray for the government’s leaders and for Godly leaders to step up.
  • 1 Timothy 2:1-4 – “I urge, then, first, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” Pray for our leaders to know and serve the Lord. Pray that God would give them the wisdom and godly council they need in order to stand boldly and courageously in the face of opposition.
  1. Pray for the lost to be saved and the Gospel to be shared.
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:1 – “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.” God wants us to be on fire for Him. Pray for Christians everywhere to seek Jesus with all their hearts and get back on track with His plan for them. Also, pray that others would come to know the Savior through the example set by their peers.
  1. Pray for unity in the country.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:10- “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

Your prayers make a difference. God loves when we talk to Him and share our hearts with Him. Join me in lifting our nation up in prayer so that we can be a prosperous, peaceful country. We are it’s future leaders, after all.

It Isn’t About You

Do you ever just sit back and reflect on how short our lives really are? They are literally a blip on the radar, a speck on a timeline. We are such a small piece of the puzzle. So, if we are just a piece, how can we think that the whole thing is about us?

Remembering that we get to live our lives for Jesus is important. We don’t HAVE to live our lives for Him, we GET to. Keeping God the center of our lives is crucial. I know it can be tough, there are so many things to do in a day and so little time to do them. How can we remember to make sure Jesus is at the center of everything we do? Some days it is harder than others. I can get caught up in my own life and forget that it isn’t about me. We all have days when we have a hard time “fitting God in” with our busy schedules. Just remember, we are not the main piece of the puzzle. We should not be trying to fit God into our life’s puzzle, we should be trying to fit ourselves into His master work of art.

The short time that we are allowed on this planet should be lived intentionally. Your piece of the puzzle is crucial to the finished product. The things you do and say, the way you present yourself and go through life, those things make a big difference. YOU make a difference. Don’t think that the things that happen in your life don’t matter to God, because they do. Big and small. The same detail that he put into creating the smallest fish in the sea to the largest mountain on the planet is the care he put into creating you. He has given you an invitation to enjoy His goodness. Let others see Jesus’s good works through you. Trust that God can take care of everything in our lives way better than we can handle them ourselves. We just hand over control to Him.

Trust me, I know all about life getting busy. Remembering to live for Jesus every day is easy when you make it a part of your life. Because remember, it isn’t about you. Take your daily dose of humble and step out the door ready to show others what it looks like to live for someone else other than themselves. That, after all, is what our generation needs to see more of. More people ready to surrender themselves and live for others, not be so caught up in themselves that they miss the joy of living in Christ.

What does the word “pretty” mean to you? When you hear it, what do you think about? The vast majority of us associate the word pretty with appearance or looks. “That dress is pretty”, “Your eyes are pretty”, “That lipstick looks pretty on you”. Today we are going to talk about a different kind of pretty.pretty

Let’s start being all kinds of pretty. Pretty kind, pretty smart, pretty tough, pretty funny, pretty strong, not just “pretty”. I saw a image the other day that summarized this and it really struck me. How many of us spend so much time worrying about what we look like and set aside other kinds of pretty? Our society is so focused on outside appearences, when what is the most beautiful about all of us is what is inside. I just wanted to challenge you to start thinking about having a pretty attitude, a pretty heart, and a pretty soul, not just a pretty face. That being said, your face is totally gorgeous. 😉

Its time to stop worrying about just being “pretty” and start being all kinds of pretty.

Failing is part of life, but no one said it has to be a fun part. It can make you feel depressed, inadequate, and can sometimes be embarrassing. Rejection is tough, and how you deal with it can really determine how successful and happy you are! Being resilient is such an important quality have. Resilience is the ability to take failure and rise above it! How do you get over failure and persevere through it? Here are 4 ways to be resilient.

  1. Don’t ignore your emotions: Looking at the bright side of a situation isn’t always realistic, especially when you are feeling like a failure. Let yourself feel the sad emotions, don’t try to push them down. Once you have allowed yourself to feel the negative emotions you leave room for the positive ones to take over!

  2. Be realistically optimistic: Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, we all know that! Just know life has ups and downs and that life isn’t going to be easy all of the time. Keep a positive outlook on things, but also be realistic.
  3. Have a strong support system: This is so important. Always having a strong network of friends and family that support you is vital for when you come across hard times. They will be right there by your side when times get tough and will help you back up when you fall. They can build your happiness back up and make you feel more resilient!
  4. Be grateful: Appreciate all of the positive things in your life, take joy in your victories no matter how small they are! When you are positive even about the small things, the big things don’t seem so bad. Have an attitude of gratitude and be thankful for everything going RIGHT in life.

Life is tough, but you are tougher!
