Products are a girl’s best friend.  Whether its perfume to make us smell good, hairspray to keep our hair in check, sunscreen to protect our skin, or foundation to cover those pesky pimples, products keep us feeling and looking beautiful; but did you know that overusing products happens too often?  Most girls don’t know the proper amount of what they’re using.  I’ll break it down into an easy guide of how much to use for each of my favorite beauty essentials.Chelsea Crockett- quarter size of conditioner

  • Overdoing it on conditioner is easy, especially if your hair is really tangled; but using too much can cause your hair to be greasy! Next time, try using an amount the size of a quarter!
  • Spraying your hair too close can leave it looking stiff or clumped together. Spray your hairspray approx. 4-6 inches from your hair.
  • Never have your flat iron or curling iron above 350 degrees! No one wants burnt hair!
  • Sunscreen can be oily and clog pores. Don’t use more than the size of a nickel to cover your face.
  • Using too much liquid foundation can make you look “fake” or “cakey”. You only need about the size of a dime to cover your entire face. You’re pretty just the way you are!
  • If you use a foam styling product to make your hair curly or to give it volume, use an amount the size of an egg!
  • Never swipe your mascara more than 10 times or it’ll look clumped!

Using the proper amount of product is key to getting the most use out of your beauty essentials!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Makeup Mistakes That Make You Look Older

When you put on makeup, you want to look your best! You always want to feel young and lively, but what if your makeup makes you look the complete opposite?!  Makeup applications that people do every day can actually make you look years older than you are!  Find out how to avoid these mistakes to have the best makeup look possible!Chelsea Crockett- too much bottom eye liner

  • Thick, heavy black eyeliner can make your eyes pop! But in reality, most people do not apply it correctly. When black eyeliner is placed heavy on the bottom lid, it can make you look like you have darker bags under your eyes than usual.
  • Purchasing the right foundation is crucial. If you apply a thick layer of matte foundation to every inch of your face, it will start to settle into fine lines. Instead, try powder or a sheer liquid foundation. Only use it in the necessary areas.
  • If you have small lips, stay away from dark lip colors. Dark colors make surface area look smaller. For fuller looking lips try a pink or peach color.
  • Light reflects off skin for a luminous glow. If you wear too much powder, your face will not catch the light and your skin will look matte.
  • Never skip blush! Adding a small pink tint to your cheeks instantly brightens your face and makes you look younger!

How to Disguise a Pesky Pimple

A beauty cheat sheet is always a girl’s best friend when it comes to hiding a pesky pimple.  A big zit on the middle of your forehead can be devastating when you’ve gotChelsea Crockett- covering a pimple plans!  Lucky for you, there are a few simple steps to disguise any zit, big or small, for hours.  Check it out!

  1. Start by dabbing a small amount of liquid foundation or concealer on a concealer brush.
  2. Press the bristles on top of the pimple and twist it. This way, the foundation or concealer will get into every nook of the zit.
  3. Next, apply powder foundation as you normally would to the rest of your face.
  4. Using loose powder foundation, dip a clean finger in it and tap it on the concealed zit. This way you won’t stand the chance of wiping away the concealer.
  5. By this time, the zit should be in full disguise!

Try wearing bright colored lip gloss or lip stick to make the focus of your face your lips, not your zit.  If your pimples are near your eye area, you can even wear a pair of glasses to distract the person looking at you!  Using these 2 methods will keep other people focused on anything but your zits!

Take a breather Insiders!  There’s always a way to hide those pesky pimples!

Makeup Faceoff!

Hi Insiders,             Have you ever had trouble picking the perfect makeup?  Since there’s so many different types and formulas, putting together the perfect makeup bag can be tough.  So…

Hi Insiders,

Have you ever had trouble picking the perfect makeup?  Since there’s so many different types and formulas, putting together the perfect makeup bag can be tough.  So how exactly do you choose which type of makeup for your face, eyes, and lips?  It’s time to investigate with a makeup faceoff!

Liquid Foundation vs. Powder Foundation

Liquid and powder foundation serve the same purpose, but are completely different.  If you have oily skin and need minimum coverage, then go for the powder.  Powder foundation will soak up oil creating a more matte finish.  If you have dry skin and some blemishes that need extra coverage, then definitely go for the liquid foundation.  Since liquid tends to be thicker, it will cover even the worst acne and hydrate dry skin.  Make sure to blend it in well, so it doesn’t look too thick.

Liquid Eye Liner vs. Pencil Eye Liner

Liquid and pencil liner are a close call!  They both get the job done.  If you prefer to wear only bottom eye liner or like a softer look, then aim for pencil.  It doesn’t go on as thick and looks more natural.  If you love a cat eye or a bold eye liner, then liquid is the way to go.  It goes on smooth and clean.  It’s a great idea to have both on hand! Chelsea Crockett- nyx the curve

Lip Stick vs. Lip Gloss

Every girl needs both lip stick and lip gloss in their makeup bag and purse!  Lip stick is more formal and bold, while lip gloss can be worn 24/7.  If you want long-lasting wear, then go for a bright lip stick to get you through the day/night.

Picking the right makeup is very important!  Look your best and feel your best with your best makeup yet.
