For those of you that hate powder foundations, liquid is the only way to get the job done!  Sometimes it can be hard to find the right product that won’t sweat off after an hour or suffocate your skin.  All three of these liquid foundations are great for all skin types and are definitely worth the buy!

Along with a stylish outfit and killer makeup, you’ll need some festive nails to complete your Valentine’s Day look!  Instead of getting your nails done for your special night, I found three different designs you can try out for yourself.  I think they’re fairly simply to do even if nails aren’t your thing!

  • If you like going all out, then the design on the right is for you! Chelsea Crockett - Love Nails I stumbled upon it on Pinterest and love it.  If you have a steady enough hand to attempt it, give it a try!  You might even be able to find nail stickers if you’re not artistic enough.  I’m in love with how festive and creative it is!
  • If you like to keep it simple, I recommend painting your nails white to start off.  Then, add a black or red heart on your ring finger!  You can even add some glitter on top to make it pop.
  • I love using super thin nail polish brushes to decorate my nails.  It makes creating a design SO much easier!  Take one of these and paint the tip of an arrow on your middle finger.  Then finish it off by painting the end of the arrow on your ring finger to create the full arrow illusion!  Use either pink or red as the base and paint the arrow in white.  It’s so cute and outside the box!

Which design are you going to rock this holiday?  Practice your artistic ability and give one of these a try!

How to Get Your Money’s Worth Out of Your Makeup

When I run out of my favorite tube of lipstick, a little part of me dies inside. Okay, that’s probably a little too dramatic, but I’m sure you can agree…

When I run out of my favorite tube of lipstick, a little part of me dies inside. Okay, that’s probably a little too dramatic, but I’m sure you can agree that it is a total bummer! Yes, you can just go to the store and get a new one, but sometimes that color or brand is no longer available. Also, why not try and use every last bit of yours? Here are a few ways to get the most out of your makeup and make it last a bit longer.

  1. Repair broken eyeshadow, blush, or face powder with a dab of rubbing alcohol. Do you have a tray of blush that you only used twice before you dropped it and cracked it? No worries. Crush the rest of it up, then add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to it and mix it together. Smooth it out so that it is spread out and even, and then let it dry! Good as new.7191624_orig
  2. Keep your powders from breaking altogether by placing a cotton pad in them while traveling or when they are in your bag.
  3. Reattach broken lipstick using heat. Have a parent help you, and use a lighter to heat the broken ends of your lipstick, then reattach them together.
  4. Let your mascara sit in a glass of warm water to loosen it up when it is getting dry and clumpy. If it really needs some thinning, add some drops of contact solution to it.
  5. Put on primer before doing your eyeshadow. This one is a wee bit different from the others, but it really does help your makeup go further because you don’t have to use as much to make it stand out!

Makeup is expensive, we all know that! Hopefully these tips help you get your money’s worth out of your favorite products.

Drugstore makeup doesn’t get enough credit for its quality.  Some of my all-time favorite makeup products come from stores like Walgreens, Target, etc.!  In 2016, there were some drugstore products that sold like crazy.  Here are the top 10 from last year!

  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish ($5).  This stuff is a lifesaver!  Instead of waiting half an hour for your nail polish to dry, this polish dries 10x faster!
  • E.l.f. Poreless Face Primer ($6).  Chelsea Crockett - Wet N Wild LipstickE.l.f. is one of the most affordable brands out there.  Their Poreless Face Primer should be your go-to primer if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck!
  • NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($6).  If you’ve never tried out NYX’s matte products, I highly urge you to do so!  They’re my favorite brand to go to when I want the longest lasting and highest quality matte lips.
  • Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick ($1).  For only ONE dollar, this lipstick comes in lots of different shades with good quality, too!  The picture above shows only six of the several colors to choose from.  What’s a better steal than that?
  • Oil Absorbing Sheets ($5).  These sheets are great for all skin types whether you have oily skin or not.  You can use them to blot away excess oil or shine before or after you apply your makeup.

If you like any of these products, let me know which is your favorite.  And if you haven’t tried them, give them a try in in 2017!

If you get as excited for Urban Decay’s new products as I do, then you’ll be ecstatic to hear about their new up and coming collection for spring 2017!  I love waiting to hear about all the new collections coming out by my favorite cosmetics brands, especially Urban Decay.  Here’s all the insight to their upcoming collection so you can get pumped about it, too!

  • Skin Prep Spray ($31).  Chelsea Crockett - Urban Decay Setting SprayThere are two new prep sprays coming out this spring that’ll properly make your skin makeup-ready.  There’s the B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray and the Quick Fix Hydra-Charged Complexion Prep Priming Spray.  Each spray leaves your skin with a fresh finish ready to apply your makeup!
  • Primer ($34).  Urban Decay is releasing five new complexion primers that you can choose from!  De-Slick, Optical Illusion, Defense, Self-Adjusting, and Bright & Tight are the names of each primer that tackle different purposes and skin types.  I’m most excited to try out the Optical Illusion Complexion Primer.  It finishes with an airbrush effect that makes your skin look flawless!
  • Makeup Setting Spray ($31).  As for the setting spray, there are three different products to cater to your skin type.  There’s the All Nighter, De-Slick, and Chill makeup setting spray.  The All Nighter spray keeps your makeup on for up to 16 hours straight!  If your skin type is extra oily, the De-Slick setting spray dries matte leaving your skin without any excess shine.  The third setting spray called Chill cools the surface of your face so your makeup doesn’t melt off in the heat!

Which product are you most excited to try from their upcoming launch?  Let me know below!

What Really Happens When You Sleep in Your Makeup

You’ve always heard that sleeping in your makeup is a huge skin “no-no.”  I know I’m not the only one that’s too lazy to take off my makeup before bed…

You’ve always heard that sleeping in your makeup is a huge skin “no-no.”  I know I’m not the only one that’s too lazy to take off my makeup before bed every once in a while!  But what really happens to your skin when you let your makeup sit overnight?  Here are the real dangers of sleeping in your makeup!

Especially in the winter, it can be hard to keep your skin properly hydrated.  When you leave foundation and other face makeup on your skin overnight, it clogs your Chelsea Crockett - Dry Skinpores and causes it to dry out.  If you allow it several nights in a row, your skin might start to flake which makes it hard to apply your makeup properly.  This dryness will cause an increase in dead skin cells which results in very dull skin that can’t be fixed with a little moisturizer!  If you don’t wash your face, you’ll lose your skin’s glow and radiance!

As far as eye makeup and lipstick goes, a buildup of either of these is no good either!  Not only is leftover mascara and eyeliner bad for your lashes, but it leaves your eyes and the areas around them prone to infections.  And as far as lipstick, caking your lips multiple times a day and not washing it off at night can lead to chapped, dry lips.  This doesn’t look or feel too good!

Now that you know the truth, remember to find the motivation to take off your makeup when you’re getting ready for bed whether you’re too lazy or not!

3 Makeup Looks for NYE

New Year’s Eve is the one holiday you can go above and beyond with your makeup.  You can rock as much sparkle and glitter as you want since you’ll be ringing in the new year all night long!  In case you wanted to try something new this holiday, here are 3 makeup looks that are perfect for the night ahead!

Gold – If you want your look to focus more on gold tones, try out a look like the one on the right!  Chelsea Crockett - NYE MakeupDoing a smoky eye with brown shades will create the perfect base to add some gold sparkle.  Fill in your eyebrows and add a maroon lip to seal the deal!

Silver – If your outfit calls for a silver makeup look, focus on black and grey tones.  Since theses shades are darker, I suggest using black only on the outer parts of your lid.  You don’t want to use too many dark shades especially if you normally don’t wear a lot of eyeshadow.  Add a shimmer silver shade over your base.  (You can even add some blue tones to compliment the grey!)

Nude – Maybe you’re not into all of the sparkle and glitter and want to keep it a little simpler.  Pick a couple eye shadows that are more matte rather than shimmer.  You can do a light smoky eye paired with a matte lipstick!  Keep it simple but still complimenting your outfit.

I hope this completes your look for this New Year’s Eve!

I see so many beauty trends and products that make me stop and think “does that really work?”  Sometimes I branch out and give them a try and am very surprised with the results!  I picked a few different products to tell you about that surprisingly work and should be on your wish list!

  • Light Therapy Acne Mask.  Neutrogena recently released a light therapy acne mask that supposedly gets rid of acne and reduces inflammation.  I have one myself and was skeptical at first, but it really makes a difference!  It’s not only relaxing but super beneficial for your skin.
  • Peel Off Lip Stain.  Peel off lip stain really depends on which brand you try for it to be a success or not!  Some brands are messy and don’t really make a difference whereas others are long-lasting and easy to use.  Read the reviews before you buy!Chelsea Crockett - Lip Stain
  • Lip Tattoos.  As long as you use these right, they usually work!  You have to place them on your lips carefully and wait for the right amount of time.  Why not try them out for fun? 🙂
  • Eyeliner Stencils.  Makeup stencils are sometimes hit or miss when it comes to the quality of them.  I’ve used an eyeliner stencil before and they won’t give you the perfect wing most of the time, unless you master them!
  • Hair Straightening Brush.  Surprisingly, these work pretty well!  The only exception is if you have really curly hair.  Either way, these brushes are great for a quick straighten!

Which product do you want to try out?  Let me know below!

Concealer is a life-saver, but only if you know how to use it to your advantage. It took me a while to master the art of concealer! Finding the right color for you can be tricky, plus applying it the right way is an art of its own. Here are my top 5 tips on everything concealer related.

  1. Color is key: There are shades of concealer that will help neutralize your specific skin tone. If you have dark purple spots around your eyes, use red concealer to cover them up and neutralize the dark circles. To find what concealer color works best for you, look at the undertone of your under eye circles.hey-girl-those-dark-circles-really-make-your-eyes-pop
  2. Different concealer formulas work better on different parts of your face: You may need a few different concealers in different colors to help cover everything. You can use a concealer that is skin tone, but having the right formula and color for the job makes a huge difference.
  3. When to apply: Apply concealer after foundation to prevent brushing the concealer away. It also helps you use less concealer! Top it all off with powder.
  4. Let your concealer set: Let your concealer “cook” or melt onto your face for a few minutes. Your body heat will warm it up, and it may change color or texture a bit. After it has melted a bit, then you can work with it and blend it into your foundation.
  5. If you like to keep things simple: If you are more of a “do the minimum” makeup kind of person, just apply concealer under your eyes, at the corners of your mouth, and next to your nose. It will help you camouflage redness or darkness in those areas quick as a flash!

Hopefully these tips help you conceal anything on your skin that you feel self-conscious about! That is what concealer is for after all, to conceal dark spots and pimples.

XOXO, Chels

Top 5 Things to Put on Your 2016 Christmas Wish List

I know I’m not the only one who all of a sudden forgets what I want to put on my wish list when Christmas time rolls around!  I always wait last minute to throw one together and end up forgetting what I actually want to add!  If you need a little help brainstorming what to add to your list this year (like I did), here are a few things that should be at the top!

  • Lipstick Vaults.  These are extremely in this year!  So many different brands and stores are coming out with full sets of lipstick compiled into one huge vault.  For example, NYX Cosmetics offers their own Liquid Lipstick Vault with so many different shades and colors.  Check them out!Chelsea Crockett - LED Phone Case
  • LED Selfie Phone Cases.  If you think I’m lying, see for yourself!  You can purchase selfie phone cases that have lights around the border to give your pics the perfect lighting!
  • Fitbits.  Fitbits are a great way to track your progress if you like to work out.  And if you don’t, then you could use one to get more active and set fitness goals!
  • A New Journal or Bible.  Recently, I’ve been super into journaling.  I love writing down things that come to me throughout the day or simply things that happen that I want to remember!
  • This may be a little out of the box, but a Keurig coffee maker or smoothie blender is super useful and enjoyable, especially for college students.  If you live in a dorm, getting a quick coffee maker or blender will make your mornings 10x better.  Trust me!

What are your top presents you’re asking for this year?  Let me know :)!

Brow maintenance is a mystery to me. How am I supposed to know what product works best for my brows? Is it brow pencils? Powder? Gel? Pens? It can be overwhelming! There are so many ways to keep your brows on fleek. Here is a mini guide to the basic ways to fill your brows!

  1. Brow powder: If you want a more subtle, softer look opt for brow powder or a matte eye shadow that is a little lighter than your brows. Use an angled brow brush to outline and fill your brows with the powder using gentle strokes.images
  2. Brow pencil: This is the simplest way to shape and fill your brows. They come in many shades so you can find the perfect color to match your brows! If you use short, light strokes to fill your brows it will look perfectly natural.
  3. Brow marker: This is the least popular method of shaping brows, but it still deserves a mention! Brow markers have the benefit of persistence- they stay on for hours and won’t smudge easily!
  4. Brow gel: If you have crazy unruly brows, use brow gel to tame and fill them. You can even use Vaseline to shape your brows if you already have dark thick ones.

Combine one or two of these methods to create the perfect brow routine for you! Get those eyebrows on fleek, girl!

If you’re like me, you probably have more beauty tools in your room than you can count.  I had no idea that there are certain tools that needed to be replaced after so many days or weeks.  I wanted to tell you guys which beauty tools should be swapped out to avoid bacteria buildup to get all that you can out of your tool!

  • Eyelash curlers.  Believe it or not, but eyelash curlers collect a lot of bacteria whether it be from your eyes or makeup buildup.  This can lead to eye infections!  I suggest using a cleanser and hot water to clear off the buildup.Chelsea Crockett - Beauty Tools
  • Loofahs.  With loofahs constantly being exposed to water and left soaking to dry, bacteria likes to grow in the moist environment!  Make sure you wring out all the excess water from it after your shower.  I recommend getting a new one every month or so as well!
  • Beauty Blenders.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… clean your foundation tools!  Whether you use your blender for foundation, concealer, etc., make sure you clean it thoroughly with a cleanser and warm water every week or so.  This way your beauty blender’s quality will last much longer.
  • Tanning mitt.  If you use a self-tanner, then your mitt is probably being used all the time.  My only advice is to rinse your mitt after each use to avoid streaky application!

Are there any tools that are missing from the list?  Let me know which tools you swap out in the comments below!

Concealer comes in many shades and colors. The specific formula we will be discussing today is of the green variety. When I first saw green concealer I could not figure out what it was. Green? On your face? But, little did I know that green concealer is used to correct redness on your face because green and red are opposites on the color wheel. Here is how to use green concealer to your advantage!mufe-green-primer1

  1. A little goes a long way: The last thing you want to do is give yourself a green hue. Only apply the
concealer to the red spots where it is needed and then blend it well with your skin-tone concealer.
  2. Match it up: The intensity of the green you use depends on your skin tone. You will know it is the right shade when it seamlessly blends to your skin and hides any blemishes under it.
  3. Think it through: Think to yourself if you really need color correction. The main goal is to show as much of your natural skin as possible!

I went to Ulta and picked up some NYX brand green concealer and love it! I just use a little dab on any red spot on my face and blend it in with my skin-tone concealer, just like I said above! Try it out and see what you think.

XOXO,

Chels

I love that when the leaves change, so do makeup shades. This season, burgundy is the “it” color when it comes to makeup. This hue looks great on all skin tones and isn’t too edgy. It looks great on eyes, lips, and even cheeks! Here are a few burgundy looks to try this fall.

  1. Bold lip: I love the way Lily Collins wears the look here. She pairs her bold lip with simple eye makeup to keep the look balanced. If you are more into subtle makeup, then this look is a great alternative. The eyes keep it simple while the lips make a statement.red
  2. On the eyes: Another subtle way to work burgundy into your makeup routine is on the eyes. I love Gigi’s smoky eye here. She keeps the look simple by pairing the burgundy eyes with a nude lip.red-1
  3. Go bold: Cara Delevingne rocks the bold burgundy lips and bold smoky eye flawlessly. If you want to be more bold, then go for this sort of pair! This probably isn’t a great “everyday” look, but more of a “special occasion” look.red-2

How are YOU going to rock burgundy this fall?
