Summer time is for natural themed and minimal makeup. The less makeup you wear the better, becauelle-04-bb-creams-maybelline-dream-fresh--xln-xlnse you are just going to sweat off what you are wearing anyway, and the less clogging your pores the better. Here are all of the products you will need to keep it natural this summer!

  1. BB Cream: BB creams are a lot more light weight than foundation so they won’t clog up your face or start to melt off when you sweat.
  2. Concealer- Just to quickly cover up those pesky pimples!
  3. Mascara- Lather up those lashes and use your natural beauty to your advantage!
  4. Eye pencil- Use light liner to give your eyes some dimension.
  5. Lip balm- All of the hot weather and sun will really dehydrate those lips if you aren’t too careful! Be sure to use a balm that has SPF to keep those lips protected!

Summer time is all about being free, fresh, and fun, so your makeup should be the same way too!

Summer Makeup: Keeping it Light

Summer is all about the laid back lifestyle: not a care in the world, beach wave hair, and minimal makeup.  Once your skin gets tanner, it’s easier to leave out your foundation!  Try this minimal makeup look with 3 simple products: blush, mascara, and lip gloss.Chelsea Crockett- lip gloss mascara blush

Have you ever wanted that California lifestyle makeup look?  Well, I’ve got it for you!  In Cali, it’s all about letting your natural beauty shine through.  Since your skin will already be tan, there is no need for bronzer!  Try dusting a light pink blush on your cheek bones to give your face a little color!  Next, apply black mascara to your lashes to make your eyes pop!  In this case, eye shadow and eyeliner are not needed.  It would over power the look.  Last, pick out your favorite shade of lip gloss and apply it to your lips.

If you’re all about makeup, I challenge you to try this look.  Although it’ll be different, show everyone how naturally beautiful you are!  Remember, everyone is beautiful!

I love you all!

It is always a sad day when my mascara finally runs out. I feel like I am wasting a perfectly good tube! That is why I was so happy to find these three uses for old mascara wands! What a shame to put a perfectly good mascara brush to waste. Here are they are!

  1. Eyebrow brush: Some mornings I wake up and my eyebrows have decided to go all “Albert Einstein” on me and tumblr_m047vxQ4621qhfby5spaz out. So, that is where my old mascara wand comes in handy. After the wand is completely cleaned of all old mascara, I use the wand to brush and style my brows.
  2. Separating lashes: Some days my lashes are total bffs; they stick together. And some days, that is NOT what I want. I want my lashes to look full, so I take my old mascara wand and comb out my eyelashes.
  3. Tame flyaway hairs: Do you ever have those times where your hair just wants to stand up straight on top of your head and do its own thing? Well your old clean mascara wand is here to be your crazy-hair tamer! Spray a bit of hairspray onto the wand and comb it over the unruly hairs.

Ask not what you can do for your old mascara wand, but what IT can do for YOU!

Mascara is a girl’s best friend and most powerful asset. There are common mistakes that every girl makes when dealing with mascara. Want to know what they are and how to amend them? Read on!

Mistake #1: Using Expired Products

After about 3 months, you should pull an ‘N Sync and say “Bye Bye Bye” to your mascara. When it is this old it starts to grow bacteria inside the tube and on the wand. This can cause you to have red, itchy eyes or even pinkeye! By this time the mascara will probably be dried out anyway, so it just makes since to replace it!images (3)

Mistake #2: Pumping the Wand
When you are getting ready to apply your mascara and you pump the wand in and out of the tube to coat it, you are actually adding air to the tube which dries out the mascara! It also causes it to clump and even flake. Try and dip the wand as little as possible to avoid drying it out as long as possible!

Mistake #3: Not Curling Your Lashes
Mascara will give your lashes a lift, but to get that red carpet look, you will need to grab your lash curler. Make sure that you use the curler BEFORE you apply mascara. Curling afterward can cause breakage! Yikes!

Now that you know how to care for your mascara, bat those beautiful lashes ladies!

If you can make life a little easier, then why wouldn’t you?!  Life hacks are all about turning something difficult into something simple!  Check out the hacks below, because why wouldn’t you want a simpler life??

  1. Only have a pair of flared jeans to tuck into your boots? Roll your jeans and stuff them into a pair of tall socks! Once tucked into your boots, you’d never know they weren’t skinny jeans!
  2. Remove deodorant marks with pantyhose or dryer sheets!
  3. Hate the green marks your rings leave behind on your fingers? Before wearing them, paint the inside of each ring with clear nail polish to avoid green stains!Chelsea Crockett- clear nail polish rings
  4. Make smoothies fast by freezing fruits and veggies in single serving bags! Just poor the bag, plus some ice and juice, and you’ve got yourself a smoothie in no time!
  5. When packing, wrap your shoes in a shower cap to keep them from rubbing against your clothing. Also, place one end of a necklace through a straw to avoid it from tangling.
  6. Cut swimming noodles and place them in your boots to keep them upright!
  7. Run your mascara brush under hot water for easier and smoother application.

I hope I made your life a little easier!

Love you all,

Chelsea

Have you ever been in a rush and realized you ran out of the one beauty product you needed?  Well don’t worry!  Luckily, there are a handful of beauty hacks that you can use to substitute almost any product; and all of them can be found lying around your house!  Check it out!

  • Doing your nails can be a hassle, especially when you run of out nail polish remover.  Although it may smell strong, you can use your perfume to remove the polish.  Spray the perfume on a cotton ball and it’ll do the trick!
  • Have you ever run out of primer?  No problem!  Put a thin layer of aloe vera gel on your skin as a substitute.  The aloe will reduce pores and smooth over skin.  It will also help your makeup stay on longer.
  • Bronzer is a girl’s best friend, but only when you use it in the right amounts!  If you ever run out, try cocoa powder.  Use this in small amounts, for it may be darkerChelsea Crockett- cocoa powder bronzer than you’d like.
  • Are you feeling stinky, but realize you are out of deodorant?  Simply mix together baking soda with water and dab it on under your arms.  It’ll eliminate the smells!
  • Out of eyeliner?  Using an angled brush, lightly dab the brush onto your mascara brush and then use that as your eyeliner.

When life gives you problems, beauty problems that is, remember there’s always a way to fix it!

XOXO,

Chels

How to Make Your Eyes Pop

Hi girls!  One of the most attention-catching parts of your face is your beautiful eyes.  From blue to brown to hazel, your eyes can always sparkle if you know the right colors and shades to use.

For the baby blues out there, use navy or grey shades of eyeliner to highlight your eyes.  Those colors allow your eyes to reflect off the eyeliner and show off the blue hue in your eyes.  As far as brown eyes go, try out dark brown or black eyeliner which will bring a fiercer feel to them.  Try to remember to outline the eyes but not to go to thick and dark with black eyeliner.  And of course I couldn’t forget about the green/hazel eyes.  For you, try light brown or green colored eyeliner.  This will bring out the brown or green in your sparkling hazel eyes.Chelsea Crockett - Eyes

To add an even more defined look, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler.  This will give them a little extra lift before adding on your favorite mascara.  Concealer is another product to use slightly below your eyes.  Getting rid of those dark circles will help others focus on your eye color and pop!  Hope this helps!

I was on Pinterest this week and discovered something really cool! I found a recipe for all natural homemade mascara! Now some of you may be thinking “I’d rather buy mine from the store, thank you very much,” but then there are those who may say “bring it on!” Some people cannot wear store bought mascara because they are allergic to the chemicals in the makeup, so this is a great alternative for them! There are also ladies who just feel more comfortable knowing what they are putting on their eyes, so they like to make their own! Whatever your reason, this handy dandy recipe may be just what you are looking for!

 Ingredients:

2 tbs coconut oilmascara

4 tsp aloe vera gel

½ tsp grated bees wax pellets (you can find this on Amazon)

1-2 capsules activated charcoal (you can buy this at most health food stores or online)

1 clean mascara container

Directions:

1. Put the coconut oil, aloe vera gel, and bees wax in a small sauce pan over low heat. Stir until wax is completely melted.

2. Open 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal, depending on how dark you want it, and pour it into the sauce pan along with the other ingredients. Stir the mixture until all of the ingredients are blended together. Remove it from heat.

3. Pour the mixture into a small plastic bag and push it down to one corner. Cut a very small hole in the opposite corner of the bag.

4. Stick the cut-open corner of the bag into the empty mascara container and squeeze in the mixture(CAREFULLY). And there you have it! All natural, made by you, how much better can it get?

            Hello darlings!

One of the most annoying things about makeup is having to reapply it continuously throughout the day.  Smeared eyeliner, disappearing blush, and runny mascara are only a few of the daily problems girls struggle with!  Here are a few pointers for long-lasting makeup:Chelsea Crockett- highlighting

  • Instead of blush, try a cheek stain or gel.  Powdered blush can get rubbed off easily especially those with oily skin.  Because stains, gels, and liquids are so highly pigmented, you’ll be sure to have noticeably pink cheeks all day long!
  • Mascara has the easiest, (and most obvious), solution.  Just use waterproof!  That’s all there is to it.  Buy some here:http://tiny.cc/MaybellineMascara
  • For eyeliner, liquids and gels last the longest.  If you’re more of a pencil user, there’s still a solution!  Apply your pencil eyeliner, then put a matching shade of eye shadow on top.  This will help keep the liner right where you left it.
  • Last but not least, foundation seems to be one of the hardest powders to keep locked into place.  The best formulas to use are oil-free.  This way the foundation finds it harder to slide off your skin.

Let me know what you use to keep your makeup on in the comment section below.

Hello lovelies!

Waterproof makeup is a must for summer!  You won’t want your makeup running everywhere if you’re at the pool or the beach.   I’ve found some great drugstore products that won’t go anywhere in the water.  You’ll stay looking beautiful even after a dip in the pool.  CoverGirl Natural Luxe Cream Foundation is a great base foundation that won’t come off in the water.  Your skin will look smooth and clean, while being protected from the sun.

Maybelline has a ton of choices when it comes to waterproof makeup products.  You can find these products at any drugstore for great prices.  Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eye Shadow comes in every color imaginable and is stay proof and water proof for 24 hours.  I like to apply a white base to my eye lid before applying the eye shadow.  Choose any color you want!  I like to use an aqua blue under my eye for a pop of color.  It’s a great look for summer!

Chelsea Crockett- Waterproof MascaraAnother must-have for waterproof makeup is waterproof mascara.  My favorite mascara to use is Maybelline Volum’ Express Mega Plush mascara.  It takes your lashes to a whole new level by lengthening them and giving them great volume.  You’ll come out of the pool looking like you walked off the runway!

         Happy summerCool
