Your body is full of nutrients and minerals you didn’t even know you had. Of course, there are always ways to enhance what good nutrients go into your skin and body! There are many oils you can use to make your skin not only feel good but look good too. Here are my top three that you can use to benefit from as well!

  • Coconut Oil. Legend has it that Caribbean women have been swearing by coconut oil for decades, and scientists can understand why! By applying it to your skin, it helps moisturize any dry or dehydrated skin. Coconut oil also works magic on your lips. Look for products that say they’re infused with it!Chelsea Crockett - Argan Oil
  • Argan Oil. Before I did my research, I thought these oils were only for strengthening and repairing hair. Surprisingly, it works as a natural hydrator for your face and body. It softens skin and can even reduce acne scars. It’s extremely rich in Vitamin E, so the nutrients and benefits from this oil are endless.
  • Jojoba Oil. Before coming across this online, I didn’t even know it existed. Jojoba oil works in many different areas of your body. It can help skin, hair, lips, etc. Whatever you choose to apply it to! All you have to do is look for products infused with it. It’s a perfect substitution for lotion after showering or before going to sleep. Your skin will thank you!

Which oil is your favorite? Let me know below so I can try it out for myself!

Go Nuts for Nuts!

Snacking can be the root of all evil. I snack when I’m bored, I snack when I’m doing homework, I snack when I’m not hungry, I snack ALL the time!  When you’re on a diet, just trying to eat healthy, or working out a lot, snacking can ruin all your hard effort.  Luckily, there are a few foods that are perfectly healthy to snack on.  There are a variety of nuts that are great for your body and have a handful of health benefits.  Keep on reading to find out what you should chow down on for your next snack! Chelsea Crockett- almonds

All nuts are pretty equal when it comes to calories. Although the fat content is high in nuts, it contains the healthy fat that your body needs.  A serving size can typically be measured by a handful and will fill you up.  For the healthiest option, avoid nuts that have been roasted in oil.  Instead, eat them raw or dry-roasted.  A few of my favorite nuts are almonds, peanuts, and pistachios.  They’re so great for a snack on-the-go or paired with a sandwich for lunch!

All nuts contain different vitamins and nutrients that are great for your skin, heart, and overall health. Almonds contain vitamin E, which is known to help improve the appearance of your skin.  It is also a heart healthy nut.  Listen up ladies, pistachios are known to keep hormones in check when you’re on your period!  They also contain fiber and potassium.  Other healthy nuts include walnuts, cashews, and macadamia nuts.

Next time you need something to snack on, reach for a handful of nuts!   Your body and stomach will thank you for it!

Love,

Chelsea

The Truth about Juicing

Do you own a juicer?  The ultimate fad of juicing has rapidly expanded all across our nation with juice bars popping up everywhere and a juicer in almost every household. …

Do you own a juicer?  The ultimate fad of juicing has rapidly expanded all across our nation with juice bars popping up everywhere and a juicer in almost every household.  Many claim that it’s the easiest way to lose weight or gain nutrients; but unfortunately, this is false!  It’s time to get our facts straight about the juicing phenomenon.Chelsea Crockett- juicer

  • When you juice, you actually lose out on most of the nutrients and benefits that whole fruits and vegetables have to offer. For example, when you juice an apple you lose most of that fiber inside of the apple. You only get the juice.
  • Juices are less filling than whole fruits and vegetables. You’ll actually end up consuming more when you juice or be left feeling hungry.
  • Juice cleanses can be dangerous for some people! During one of these cleanses, the body lacks fats and proteins to fuel your body. Many people may lack energy and find themselves uneasy.
  • Doing a juice cleanse will make you lose weight initially, but it will not keep it off in the long run. As soon as you start eating solid foods again, your body will store extra fat to make up for what it lost.

The moral to this story: eat your fruits and vegetables whole, don’t drink them!

XOXO,

Chelsea
