2016 was quite the year to remember.  It gave us many things, both good and bad, that will go down in the books!  Something that 2016 did give us were many trends that made their statements in the fashion world!  There are several fashion trends that are predicted to make their debut or comeback in 2017.  Here are some of them so you can get a head start!

  • Sheer.  Chelsea Crockett - Slip DressSheer is a material that’s always been around but has never gotten a lot of attention.  But in 2017, it’s supposed to be one of the hottest trends!
  • Flare.  Flare jeans have started to make a comeback toward the end of 2016, but in 2017, they’re expected to really take off!  I love the flared look because it adds a Boho, fun feel to your outfit.
  • Romantic style.  This trend includes a lot of velvet, silk, pinks, and reds!  An outfit like the one on the right represents this feminine style perfectly.  Silk slip dresses will be in almost every store next year! 🙂
  • Sneakers.  In 2016, retro Adidas sneakers made a massive comeback.  In the new year, sneakers will be totally acceptable to throw on with almost any look!  Get a pair that you can rock to pull off the street style.
  • Street style.  Speaking of street style, it is big as it is, but it’s getting even bigger!  Brands such as Adidas, Nike, and many others will be coming out with some stylish pieces to add to your street style collection.

Which trend can you see yourself rocking in 2017?  Let me know below!

On Pinterest I always see pictures of women wearing chic over-the-knee boots and I drool a little. The boots are so trendy and look effortlessly stylish. They so slimming, too! Well, as we have heard time and time again, some things look better in pictures than they do in real life. Over-the-knee boots are one of those things. As it turns out, styling and being able to pull off over-the-knee boots is actually a bit of a challenge because they look different on everyone! Here are a few tips on how to wear them for every body type.cb666451ac39f3e7bfadeb1f593ee34e

For tall girlies: You ladies have it the best when it comes to over-the-knee boots. Your long legs are beneficial because the boots accentuate them and make them look even longer! Pair them with a simple sweater dress for a great balance between your boots and your hemline.

For curvy ladies: If you have curves you can totally rock these bad boys! It is all about how you wear them. Go for a pair that hits right above the knee and creates a lean, long leg line with some dark denim jeans. As for your top, wear a long sweater or blouse to finish the ensemble off.

For petite gals: When it comes to my petite pals, I suggest pairing over-the-knee boots with fitted pieces that show your shape. It is important not to overwhelm your small frame! Don’t wear tops or dresses with long hemlines that make your legs look short, go for tops/dresses/skirts that leave plenty of space between your hemline and boots.

These stylish boots can work for any body type! You just have to know how to style them in a way that works with YOU. 😉

Lauren Conrad is one of the biggest fashion bloggers of our time.  She’s an icon in all things fashion and beauty!  If you don’t know who she is, you may recognize her from the shows Laguna Beach and The Hills.  She has certain style secrets that she swears by that I think we can all learn a little from!

  • Keep things simple!  You don’t have to go above and beyond to make a fashion statement.Chelsea Crockett - Lauren Conrad  Keeping things sleek and classy isn’t a bad thing. (That being said, your style is how you want to dress so if keeping it simple isn’t your thing, then you do you!)
  • Try rocking winged eyeliner.  I was always a little hesitant with winged eyeliner but now I love it!  Trying out a little wing doesn’t hurt!
  • Skinny jeans and loose blouses.  Like the picture on the right, Lauren always rocks a simple pair of jeans and a loose shirt.  Pairing it with simple accessories and a killer pair of wedges seals the look!
  • Rock a blazer.  Blazers can make an outfit go from boring to fashionable.  It’s definitely a staple piece, so if you don’t own one you should!
  • Mix style with comfort.  If you’re not comfortable in your outfit, then what’s the point?  Buy yourself a super comfy pair of jeans or a pair of wedges that fit just right.

Try these tips out from the style queen herself!

Fringe is one of my favorite fall fashion statements! It is so fun and flirty. I love subtly working fringe into my fall outfits. There are so many ways to wear it. Here are a few essential fringe pieces for your fall wardrobe!

  1. Fringe jacket/sweater: I love fringe outerwear. If it has subtle fringe, it is an A+ in my book. Too much fringe is too overwhelming, but a little as an accent is perfect! Wear some statement jewelry like a watch and bangles for accessories, and layer a simple tee under your fringe to keep things simple.
  2. Fringe booties: Wearing fringe booties with a simple outfit takes it to the next level! Use your booties as the statement piece of the outfit, or
wear some fringe jewelry to play on the fringe accents on your boots.x354-q80
  3. Fringe satchel/handbag: This is another sweet accent piece. A simple fall ensemble with a fringe purse is the perfect pair! Make sure you keep your outfit simple if you are wearing fringe accents, though, to ensure you don’t have too much going on. Simple = safe!

How will YOU wear fringe this fall?

Dressing up for Halloween never gets old.  Whether you’re 5 or 25, everyone finds a little bit of enjoyment in finding the perfect costume!  Although there’s nothing wrong with dressing up solo, getting your friends together to pull off an awesome group costume makes the night even more memorable!

  • If you need something super quick and simple, emoji t-shirts are the answer!  All you need to do is purchase plain yellow t-shirts from Walmart, Target, etc.  Pick your fave emoji and create the face on your shirt using whatever color felt material you need.  Simply cut out the shapes and hot glue each piece of felt onto your shirt!Chelsea Crockett - Emoji Costumes
  • If you have a big enough group, be the seven dwarves from Snow White!  All you need are different colored long-sleeved shirts (colors that the dwarves wear), beanies, felt (black, yellow, and white), laced boots, and high white socks.  For the white felt, cut letters and hot glue them to the shirt to spell out whoever you are, whether it be Happy or Sleepy!  With the black felt, make a belt with a square yellow buckle on the front.  After you do this, you’re set!
  • Basing costumes off you and your friend’s favorite movie is easy and such a fun idea!  There are so many movies to pull costume ideas from such as Disney movies, Mean Girls, etc.  Pick the easiest and best one to go off of and go from there!

Let me know below what you and your friends are being for Halloween!  You never know, I may need some help myself!

Happy Halloween! – Chelsea

New York Fashion Week is the greatest week of the year!  Although I didn’t get to go, I still love looking at all the runway looks and trends.  This year, all of the designer’s showed off some of their most stylish collections ever!  Here’s a short recap of the week and how you can be up to date with this season’s hottest trends!Chelsea Crockett - NYFW Muted Orange Trend

  • Muted orange.  Obviously fall colors are always a huge “yes” during the season, but the orange shade above is a big one this fall!
  • Mismatch/patched jeans.  In a lot of the runway shows this year, designers featured jeans that had patches from other shades and materials of jeans.  It might sound odd, but they actually turned out super stylish and unique!
  • Formal Boho/festival wear.  The Boho style has been around for a while, but it’s usually more casual, festival wear.  This season, there’s more of an emphasize on formal Boho wear, such as flowy dresses, skirts, and blouses.
  • Sequins and ruffles.  You may be thinking… what?  I don’t mean huge ruffled dresses decked out in sparkly sequins.  What I do mean are simple, detailed looks with a little sparkle!

Which look or show was your favorite from NYFW?  Let me know below! 🙂

There are some items of clothing that never go out of style. I tried to pack as many of this sort of thing to go to college with me as I could. I love dressing trendy and stylish, and there are clothing items that you can literally wear tons of ways and with tons of different combinations (aka your basic white V-neck t-shirt) and will always be in style. Here are a few closet staples that I made sure not to leave Illinois without.1cf6273d9462ef3c7090e1eb2c2c40fe

  1. Simple white button-down shirt: Layer it under a sweater, vest, blazer or wear it by itself. There is nothing classier or more versatile than a simple white button up.
  2. Nice pair of black slacks: Everyone needs a dressy pair of black slacks for any professional event or interview that may arise! You always want to be prepared.
  3. Classy fitted blazer: For job interviews, dressy parties, or professional school events.
  4. Trendy leather jacket: I love an edgy leather jacket.
  5. Pair of classic dark denim: A pair of dark denim pants can be paired with pretty much anything and can be both dressed up or dressed down.
  6. Classic denim jacket: For those chilly summer/fall evenings.
  7. Flattering denim shorts: A cute pair of denim shorts that fit well are essential to any wardrobe. They’re super versatile and never go out of style.
  8. Cute black jeans: I love a nice pair of black denim. They’re a little more edgy than standard blue jeans and pair well with all kinds of tops, from dressy to casual.
  9. Standard white v-neck: The perfect lazy day top. Pair with simple jeans and white Keds for an effortlessly easy ensemble.
  10. Nice trench coat: For the days when it is too warm for your winter coat but too cold for a jacket.

Keep these items in your closet and you will never run out of things to wear! So many combos!

Sooner than later, the leaves will be changing and the temperatures will be dropping.  That being said, some fall wardrobe updating will need to be done!  There are lots of new trends to be aware of this upcoming season.  Different materials, patterns, and looks are going to make their statement in a month or two.  Keep reading to find out how you can be up-to-date!Chelsea Crockett - Long Line Vest

  1. Instead of puffy or fleece vests, try rocking a long-line vest like the one on the right!  They’re much more stylish and can be dressed up or dressed down!
  2. Although army jackets are super cute, try wearing a bomber jacket instead.  They have a much more retro feel to them and come in many different colors and patterns!  This is one of my favorite trends going into fall 2016.
  3. I have tons of dresses that I love to wear especially in autumn, but one trend that I’ve been seeing everywhere is suede dresses.  I love the material and the look it gives off!
  4. Instead of layered or chunky necklaces, don’t be afraid to be simple with chokers!  There are so many different kinds.  You can get a tan suede double stranded choker or a thick black stranded one, whatever you want!

Which fall trend will you be rocking this season?  Let me know below! 🙂

As the school year approaches, most of us are dreading getting back into the routine of waking up early, homework, and much more.  There are certain tips and hacks that will help you get back into the swing of things but will also help you throughout the entire school year.  I know it can get hard!  That being said, here are some hacks from yours truly!

For the first week:

  • Plan exciting breakfasts for you to look forward to.  Chelsea Crockett - School OutfitI know if I have my favorite breakfast in my kitchen with some good coffee to chow down the next morning, I’ll be much happier to get out of bed!  It doesn’t make waking up such a dread!
  • Plan your outfits the night before.  It will save you the time and stress of picking it out while you’re rushing to get ready!  Hang it up so it stays unwrinkled throughout the night.
  • If you’re not 100% confident on knowing your new class schedule, make it your phone’s lock screen.  That way it’s accessible for a quick look.

For the whole year:

  • Studying can get old really fast, especially toward the end of the semester.  Try the tip of studying for 25 minutes then a 5-minute break.  And every third break take an extra 15 minutes!  This will give your brain a little rest so you don’t burn out!
  • When writing an important essay, it’s easy to miss the little typos and grammar issues.  Copy and paste your essay into Google translate and it can read it to you out loud!  It’s much easier to hear your mistakes when listening to it.

I hope these help you out and I wish you a great start to your new school year!

Fourth of July is the perfect day for boating, barbeques, and celebrating the awesome country we get to call home! It’s also the perfect day for dressing up in your most stylish red, white, and blue gear. This year, I decided to put together a few looks that put a little twist on fourth of July attire.

Chelsea Crockett - Fourth of July JacketThe first look is the picture on the left. I love this statement jacket that pairs perfectly with a simple outfit! A pair of black shorts and a black tank top is all you need with this jacket. Finish it off with a cute pair of sunglasses and sandals or converse. If you start to feel the heat, roll up your sleeves like she did on the left!

Depending on where you live, it may be too chilly to wear shorts and a cute tank.Chelsea Crockett - Fourth of July Sweater You may need long sleeves or pants. Depending on what events you’re attending on the fourth will determine how festive you’re going to dress. If you’re attending a theme party, why not go all out and get a fun pair of fourth of July leggings?! If you’re just hanging out with friends, try a flag sweater like the one on the right to pair with some jean shorts.

These are just a couple looks for the upcoming holiday! What are you wearing this year? Tell me below!

It’s not only the start of summer and the end of the school year but the beginning of many, many graduation parties! Especially if you’re a senior, like me, you’ll have dozens of parties to attend! If you’ve never been to one, it’s hard to know what to wear and what type of present you should bring. Here’s my take on it :)!

If you’re attending the party with your parents, most of the time your gift will be from your whole family. If you’re in this boat, your Chelsea Crockett - DIY Dorm Decorparents will usually give the graduate a card with money or a gift card. Most of the time, it’s your closer friends’ parties that you’re going to, so you should have an idea of what they like or don’t like. If you know their plans for college, you can make or buy a gift that could go in their dorm room! There are plenty of DIYs that are perfect for dorm décor. If you’re not on the crafty side, buy something that they can take to college with them or simply something that they’ll enjoy for their next chapter in life!

As far as outfits go, you don’t need to be over-the-top dressy, but you do need to look nice. I suggest a casual dress or jeans with a nice shirt. As for shoes, sandals or a small wedge are perfect!

I hope that’s helpful! – Chelsea

Are you a preppy gal? Do you WANT to be a preppy gal? If you said yes to either of those questions, you are going to want to keep reading! Spring, to me, is a time for pastels and pretty dresses. And preppy styles, of course! Spring is full of mild weather, blooming flowers and blue skies, perfect preppy attire weather if you ask me! Here is my guide to everything essential for the springtime prepster.

  1. Sweet sundresses: I LOOOVE when the weather is warm enough to break out my sundresses! Sundresses are great for running around town doing errands, for a day out with the gals, for Church, or even date night!2c550a2f63d74ded18a84f691c2825fe
  2. Floral skirts: So feminine and so classic! After months of hiding your legs under jeans and leggings, let them free in a sweet floral skirt. Pair with a simple pastel blouse to balance the look.
  3. Pastel button-ups: Oxfords are a preppy wardrobe staple. Pretty pastel ones are a perfect addition to your springtime get-up. Experiment with patterns like gingham to mix things up! Roll the sleeves when it starts warming up, and pair with a monogrammed necklace to finish the look.
  4. Classic trench coats: Springtime = rainy days galore! How do you think those May flowers get their beautiful blooms? April showers, of course! Beat the rain and chilly mornings with a classy camel trench coat. They are so versatile and timeless, so they go with just about anything!

There you have it, the 4 pieces to add some prep to your spring wardrobe!

Festival season is amongst us! Coachella in April and many more to follow throughout the summer that are on my not to miss list. Festival style mainly revolves around the Boho-styled look. Lots of jewelry, fun patterns, and unique materials are fun to experiment with for your festival! Here are some pointers when picking out your outfit!

At festivals like Coachella, picking out your outfit is only the first step. Accessorizing should be your main focus in putting together your look. Fringe purses, circulaChelsea Crockett - Festival Jewelryr sunglasses, and chunky rings are all in this year. The picture on the left shows someone who took accessorizing to another level. Metallic tattoos are so cute and can be bought in gold or silver to match your jewelry. Check them out!

As far as the actual outfit goes, Boho patterns are where it’s at. Loose patterned shorts and rompers are not only comfy but stylish! I’ve recently been seeing two reoccurring trends in upcoming festival style: hats and midi cardigans. Hats are fashionable and are perfect for being in the sun all day! As for midi cardigans, ones that are patterned and light-weighed are cute and good for the heat.

If you’re going to a festival this year, which one? Also, what look are you going for? I may need some ideas :)!

Spring is amongst us! And with spring comes warm weather, flowers, and lots of new fashion trends! From the recent fashion weeks, I’ve witnessed trends that are about to make their mark in the upcoming season. Here are the ones you need to keep an eye out for!

  • Shoulder cutouts in shirts have come up in magazines and on fashion blogs more and more frequently. These type of shirts are perfect for spring and the warm weather approaching!Chelsea Crockett - Skirt Wrap
  • Wrapped skirts, like the picture on the right for example, are super stylish and aren’t the usual look that you’d expect for a skirt. They have a more unique look to them than just a basic skirt or dress.
  • Bright patterns and colors always make their way back into the fashion world starting in the spring. According to past fashion weeks, stripes especially will be in almost every store this season!
  • Victorian-inspired styles such as floral patterns and high-collar necklines are super cute and can bring a uniqueness to your outfit. Ruffles, too, are part of the Victorian style and are supposed to make a comeback this season!
  • Unique necklines, such as the high-collar neckline mentioned above, are fun to experiment with! An X-crossed neckline goes hand-in-hand with the shoulder cutouts trend. Check it out!

What trend will you be rocking this upcoming season? Let me know in the comments below!

To the people who say that turtlenecks are totally not cute, I say think again! They keep you cozy warm in the chilly temps all while rocking a stylish fashion staple. Layer them under coats, over skirts, tucked into jeans, any way you want! Here are my 3 favorite ways to wear them this winter.

  1. Edgy and chic: If you want to try an edgy or trendy look, pair a gray turtleneck sweater with a leather jacket, some black skinnies, and black booties. The shorter length of the leather jacket will nicely contrast with the longer hem of the turtleneck, adding dimension to the outfit.FullSizeRender (32)
  2. Sweet and simple: A simple turtleneck is a very effortlessly classy look. Pair a simple, colored turtleneck with casual skinnies and flats for a sweet everyday outfit.
  3. Fun and flirty: I love this turtleneck sweater/leather skirt/plaid shirt combo. Add in tights and boots for a fun, feminine outfit for a night with the girls!

What are your thoughts on turtlenecks? Do you think they are cute, or do you think they are a thing of the past?
