3 Unique Ways to Spend Mother’s Day

I feel like Mother’s Day is one of those holidays that always sneaks up on me so fast!  Coming up with the perfect gift and day to plan out isn’t easy, but I always get it done in time to surprise my mom with a great day.  I wanted to think out of the box this year, so I came up with a few unique ways to spend Mother’s Day!

  • Buy supplies at the store and plant some flowers together!Chelsea Crockett - DIY Flower Pots  You can even buy pots to decorate with paints, stencils, and other things to customize them.  You and your mom can go to the store together and pick out which seeds you want to plant, too.  Make sure you remember to give it lots of water and sunlight!
  • Take a “staycation.”  This is when you go to a nearby big city (or the city you live in if you’re not close to a bigger one) and create a whole day filled with plans that you and your mom can do together!  This could be anything from going to eat somewhere you’ve always wanted to and exploring different spots around town.  Living near St. Louis, it’s always fun to plan a relaxing day around the city!
  • Now this idea is a little outside the box but perfect for a bigger group of people.  Something called Escape the Room is so, so fun for a group of about 10 or so people.  Grab your mom, aunt, grandma, etc. and work together to make it out in time!  They’re getting more and more popular so look for one in your city!

What are you doing this year for Mother’s Day?  Let me know below!

Perfect LUSH Mother’s Day Gift!

Mother’s Day is the perfect day to show your mom how much she truly means to you.  Although we should thank her for all she does for us every day, Mother’s Day is a great excuse to go above and beyond and get her something special!  LUSH Cosmetics has the ideal Mother’s Day gift collection that you can choose from!

  • A Yellow or Pink “MOM” Bath Bomb ($7.95). Chelsea Crockett - LUSH Bath Bomb This is my favorite product from the Mother’s Day collection.  It’s the most appropriate for the occasion! 🙂 And your mom will love a fizzling bath bomb!
  • “Your Mother Should Know” Bubble Bar ($12.95).  Instead of a bath bomb, this bubble bar creates a bath full of grapefruit and rosewood scented bubbles!  And unlike a bath bomb, you can get a few uses out of it if you use it wisely.
  • “Ups-A-Daisy” Bath Bomb ($7.95).  This bath bomb is in the shape of a flower and creates bright, technicolor swirls throughout your bath.  It has scents of orange and rosewood to give you a relaxing, spring aroma.
  • “Yummy Mummy” Shower Cream ($9.95-$29.95).  Depending on the size of the bottle, this shower cream can range anywhere between about $10 to $30.  It leaves your skin feeling smooth and smelling sweet!
  • “Happy Mother’s Day” Gift Basket ($87.95).  If you want to go above and beyond, you can purchase a full gift basket filled with a variety of different Mother’s Day products.  It may be pricey, but you definitely get your money’s worth!

What are you going to put in your mom’s basket this year?  Share with me below and I might do the same! 🙂

Top 5 Things to Put on Your 2016 Christmas Wish List

I know I’m not the only one who all of a sudden forgets what I want to put on my wish list when Christmas time rolls around!  I always wait last minute to throw one together and end up forgetting what I actually want to add!  If you need a little help brainstorming what to add to your list this year (like I did), here are a few things that should be at the top!

  • Lipstick Vaults.  These are extremely in this year!  So many different brands and stores are coming out with full sets of lipstick compiled into one huge vault.  For example, NYX Cosmetics offers their own Liquid Lipstick Vault with so many different shades and colors.  Check them out!Chelsea Crockett - LED Phone Case
  • LED Selfie Phone Cases.  If you think I’m lying, see for yourself!  You can purchase selfie phone cases that have lights around the border to give your pics the perfect lighting!
  • Fitbits.  Fitbits are a great way to track your progress if you like to work out.  And if you don’t, then you could use one to get more active and set fitness goals!
  • A New Journal or Bible.  Recently, I’ve been super into journaling.  I love writing down things that come to me throughout the day or simply things that happen that I want to remember!
  • This may be a little out of the box, but a Keurig coffee maker or smoothie blender is super useful and enjoyable, especially for college students.  If you live in a dorm, getting a quick coffee maker or blender will make your mornings 10x better.  Trust me!

What are your top presents you’re asking for this year?  Let me know :)!

Most of us don’t like to admit it, but the majority of us are professional procrastinators.  Whether it be homework, chores, or a lot of other things, I always push dreadful tasks off until I’m forced to do them!  As far as Christmas shopping goes, I can be the same way.  I came up with a few last-minute DIY Christmas gifts that may come in handy!

  • Put together a gift card wallet.  You could either buy a pricier wallet and fill it with a few $5 gift cards to their favorite places or buy a cheaper wallet and fill it with $10 or $15 gift cards!
  • FOOD!  Who said you can’t give food as a gift?  You may want to pair it with a little something, but baking up a holiday treat or two or even buying something from a cute cupcake shop would be totally fine in my book :)!
  • DIY jewelry may sound hard to make, but it’s actually pretty simple!  There are tons of different ways to make homemade chokers, bracelets, etc. like the ones on the right!
  • If the person you’re gift shopping for is a makeup fan, put together a small makeup bag filled with different drugstore products!  Pick their favs that you know they’ll love!

Especially around the holiday season, everyone wants that special person to spend Christmas time with!  If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend this year, then you’ll most likely be buying each other Christmas presents.  There are certain things to consider when picking out that perfect gift for your boyfriend or girlfriend to make sure this year is the best Christmas yet!

  • DO get him something meaningful.  Chelsea Crockett - Christmas PresentsPut some thought into it!  Boys like meaningful gifts too whether they admit it or not.
  • DON’T just give him money or a gift card.  Like I said, put some thought into it!  Although money and gift cards are nice, he’ll probably be getting some from relatives anyways.
  • DO ask his friends and family for advice.  Nothing’s wrong with asking for a little help!  They might know about what he likes or what size he wears more than you do, so shoot them a text and ask!
  • DO ask each other for a budget.  I don’t mean you have to have an exact spending amount set, but at least try to get an idea of how much to spend.
  • DON’T overthink it.  Boys will usually be happy with whatever you get them as long as you know what they like and don’t like.  Don’t stress about it!

I hope you’re all getting into the Christmas spirit!

There’s so many times that I want to simply show how much I love and appreciate my best friends for all they’ve done for me.  Especially at this point in my life, all my friends and I are going our separate ways for college.  If you’re in the same boat, or simply want to do something special for your BFFs, here are a few DIY gifts you can surprise them with!

  • Friendship bracelets are not overrated!  They might be the basic BFF gift but you can put your own spin on it! Chelsea Crockett - Gift Basket Depending on where you live, there are tons of places and stores that can engrave whatever you want onto a bracelet or necklace.  Maybe add your initials or you can your friend’s favorite Bible verse!
  • For this DIY, you’ll need to develop your favorite picture of you and your best friend.  You’ll need to buy a matted frame that you can write on from a craft store like Hobby Lobby.  Think of quotes or sayings that you and your friend like and write them all over the frame with a Sharpie!
  • Each of my best friends and I have certain foods or specific places we like to go, and of course lots of inside jokes.  Buy a cute basket and fill it with your guys’ favorite snacks, gift cards to your favorite places, or any funny things that remind you of her!  I also suggest getting a card to write a heartfelt message whatever the occasion may be!

I hope your BFF enjoys whatever wonderful DIY you decide to create! 🙂

It’s not only the start of summer and the end of the school year but the beginning of many, many graduation parties! Especially if you’re a senior, like me, you’ll have dozens of parties to attend! If you’ve never been to one, it’s hard to know what to wear and what type of present you should bring. Here’s my take on it :)!

If you’re attending the party with your parents, most of the time your gift will be from your whole family. If you’re in this boat, your Chelsea Crockett - DIY Dorm Decorparents will usually give the graduate a card with money or a gift card. Most of the time, it’s your closer friends’ parties that you’re going to, so you should have an idea of what they like or don’t like. If you know their plans for college, you can make or buy a gift that could go in their dorm room! There are plenty of DIYs that are perfect for dorm décor. If you’re not on the crafty side, buy something that they can take to college with them or simply something that they’ll enjoy for their next chapter in life!

As far as outfits go, you don’t need to be over-the-top dressy, but you do need to look nice. I suggest a casual dress or jeans with a nice shirt. As for shoes, sandals or a small wedge are perfect!

I hope that’s helpful! – Chelsea

Nothing’s better than homemade gift for your dad on Father’s Day. Not only is it meaningful but inexpensive, too (which at our age, saving money is a priority!). Pinterest is the perfect place to find all things DIY. Here are a few DIY gifts that are creative, simple, and perfect for any dad!

  • First off, you’ll need a card. Create your own DIY Father’s Day card! This may seem basic or overrated, but whatever your gift is will need a card to go with it. A homemade card is always meaningful and shows you took the time to make it. You can even add inside jokes or funny puns to add some humor to it!Chelsea Crockett - BBQ Basket DIY
  • If your dad loves to grill, then this DIY is perfect for you. Create a BBQ basket with everything he needs to host a BBQ! Buy an array of sauces, such as steak sauce, BBQ sauce, ketchup, etc., and place them in the basket. Then, purchase some grilling tools that he can put to use and add those to the basket. If you want to go the extra mile, buy him a gift card to somewhere where he can buy steaks, burgers, etc. for when he wants to grill!
  • The way to a man’s heart is always food. There are endless recipes online that allow you to get creative when baking your dad something! Maybe a cupcake that looks like a basketball? Or maybe cookies decked out with your dad’s favorite sport’s team!

Before opening our presents on Christmas morning, my family checks our stockings for any little gifts my parents stuff them with. Since I love makeup, I usually know what I’m going to find tucked into my stocking. These are some of my fave to find on Christmas morning, and maybe you could give your parents an idea too!

  • An Eyelash Curler. These things are a beauty necessity for your makeup bag. They’re also inexpensive and the perfect size to fit in your stocking! Another perk is how much longer your lashes will look :).
  • Any lip product. Lipsticks, chap sticks, glosses, etc. are the ultimate stocking stuffers. If you’re wondering what colors are perfect shades for winter, I suggest any dark reds or pinks. Maroon is my go-to lip color for the holidays!Chelsea Crockett - Stocking Stuffers
  • A Blending Sponge. If you use concealer or liquid foundation, a beauty sponge is a must-have. These can be found almost anywhere from Target to Forever 21. They’re super cheap but most of the time have great quality.
  • Makeup wipes. These might not be what you want but they’re definitely what every girl needs! There are too many nights where these save me from falling asleep with my makeup on. If you want a suggestion on which brand, Neutrogena is my go-to!
  • Nail polish. A girl can never have too much nail polish, am I right? Some of my favorite holiday shades are maroon, black, and gray. You can some at Target for an awesome price. You could even buy two or three!

Let me know what you get in your stockings this year!

Around the holidays, tons of charities and organizations do a lot to help the community. Sometimes it’s as simple as preparing a meal for a family or providing a Christmas for kids that aren’t fortunate enough to have one. Chelsea Crockett - Operation Christmas ChildOne charity that I wanted to bring attention to is Operation Christmas Child. I thought I’d tell you a little about what it is and what you can do!

Churches nationwide participate in this charity every year. To briefly describe what it is, the organization takes shoeboxes filled with toys and God’s Word and sends them to kids around the world such as in Africa and South America. There are a few drop off locations around the country if you want to make your own box! If these locations aren’t near you, several churches also take them and send them to the drop off locations for you! If you don’t even want to do that, you can simply pay to make one online.

The impact of these gifts are much bigger than you think. Hundreds of kids across the globe are being introduced to Jesus through these simple shoeboxes. You can watch several different stories online and listen to how lives were changed worldwide. I highly suggest you check it out!

Merry Christmas! – Chelsea

Father’s Day is almost here!  It’s time to start thinking about spoiling your dad on his day!  I have been so blessed to have a good dad and I want to make sure he knows how grateful I am.  (If you don’t have a father that you keep in touch with, perhaps you have a male figure in your life that is really special to you…like an uncle or grandpa!)

This year, why not take your dad on a father/daughter date?  Take him to his favorite restaurant and offer to pay for your meals.  Write him a nice, heartfelt card to give to him at dinner. No matter who he is, any dad would love that. He may not show it on the outside, but he would love a letter from your heart, trust me!

Chelsea Crockett - ScrapbookThere are many DIY gift ideas online for readers to make for their dads such as scrapbooks, iPhone cases/covers, etc.  Whatever you decide to do, most importantly, take the time to let him know how much he means to you.  You’ll never regret thanking your dad and he will find it very encouraging!  Let me know how you decide to celebrate your dad!

February 14th, the day all the perfect couples and secret admirers look forward to. Maybe your boyfriend is planning a dinner date for the two of you. Or maybe you’re planning a girl’s night in with chick flicks and all your BFFs! Finding a V-day present for your crush or simply someone you love can be tricky! Here are a few suggestions.

  • For the food lover. Food is the key to almost anyone’s heart (mine especially!) and since chocolate is the biggest treat of the holiday, have some fun with it! One of my favorite ideas is chocolate covered pretzels. Dip some pretzel sticks into milk, white, and/or dark chocolate and decorate them with pink and red sprinkles! Another mouth-watering idea is chocolate covered strawberries. These are delicious and not entirely unhealthy :)!Chelsea Crockett - Personalized Guitar Picks
  • For the artistic. DIY or homemade presents are always a little more heartfelt then the average gift. If you have a creative side, why not show it to the one you love by thinking outside of the box? One idea I saw on Pinterest was personalized guitar picks. Maybe your crush is into music? This is just one of the many ideas that show you put some thought into his gift.
  • For the sport lover. If your boy is into sports, purchase some game tickets or his favorite team’s jersey. He’ll love that you put some interest into something he likes!
  • For the adventurous. Instead of getting him an actual gift or present, plan a fun day for the two of you. Maybe go to the zoo, hiking, or on a bike ride and end your night with dinner and a movie, your treat!

Good luck! – Chels

The Gift of Giving

Have you ever been asked, “What is Christmas all about?” Some responses could be spending time with family or the delicious ham you get to savor for dinner! Although those are a few pluses, there couldn’t be Christmas without Jesus. That being said, the Bible talks a lot about giving, such as God giving His only son to die for our sins. This is something we can all put into action this holiday season!

I recently found a quote on Pinterest that says “There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.” Personally I find more joy in giving than receiving! Whether you’re doing a gift exchange with friends or giving your mom a present Christmas morning, it’s impossible not to get a smile on your face! Now I’m not saying that receiving isn’t nice… Getting a gift (especially one off of your wish list!) is never a time to complain, but giving someone a present is one hundred times more satisfying!Chelsea Crockett - Give

I know for me, the simple thought behind a gift already makes it good no matter what might be under the wrapping paper. Not everyone has the money to go out and buy ten $50 gifts. Not every present has to be expensive! Homemade or DIY gifts are even more meaningful than just buying a shirt or gift card (and it won’t break the bank!).

Tis’ the season for giving, and you shouldn’t miss out! If you give this holiday, I promise your joy will be greatly multiplied!

“Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first.”

Love, Chelsea

Searching for and picking out gifts can be surprisingly difficult, especially when you don’t know who’s going to get it! Gift exchanges are fun, but tough to actually find the gift you’re going to bring. No worries… I’m here to help! Here are a few suggestions I came up with:

  • FOOD! Who doesn’t love food? There’s a huge variety of Christmas treats that are perfect for a little present. Cookies, cake pops, or peppermint brownies are just a few examples of sweets you can whip up!Chelsea Crockett - Peppermint Scrub
  • As you know, I’m obsessssssed with DIYs. There are several “do it yourself” recipes for scrubs and other body products that are inexpensive and perfect for a gift. One of my favorites is the peppermint body scrub, it’s perfect for the season :)!
  • When you think of winter, what’s one of the first things you think of? For me, I think of hot coffees and hot chocolates. You can buy a cute and creative mug and fill it with packets of different types of hot drinks!
  • Since clothes and shoes are out of the picture for exchanges, makeup or nail polish is a good replacement!  You don’t have to find the right size or spend a lot of money. It’s simple and a necessity for any girl :)!

Let me know what your go-to gift is for the holidays below!

Merry Christmas! – Chelsea

DIY Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is the perfect time for showing our moms just how much we appreciate them! Think of how much your mom has done for you without complaining and grumbling. Whether it was taking me to dance practice or dropping me at a friend’s house, my mom was happy to do it. Here are a few ‘do it yourself’ gifts to show a way of repaying them this Mother’s Day!

Chelsea Crockett - Painted PotsHere is a perfect suggestion for those who are a little more artistic! If your nearby pottery shop doesn’t sell one, find a different store where you can buy a pot. If you can find a white one, even better! Then buy some acrylic paints and go to town! After finishing your masterpiece, let it dry and add some of your mom’s favorite flowers. Don’t forget to keep them hydrated and in the sunlight!

For those who struggle with their artistic side, here is a perfect way to thank your mom for all she’s done. For the nights your mom has stayed up waiting for you to get home or taking care of you when you’re sick, make her a sleep basket. If your mom’s a tea drinker, get all different kinds of tea for her to make before bedtime (peppermint, green, lemon, etc.). Other things to put in the basket could include a candle, lotion, sleep mask, blanket, “do not disturb” sign, etc.

Another cute idea is to take a bunch of old family recipes and make them into one big cookbook! Or try a coupon book with things such as “good for one family game night/movie night” or “good for dinner cooked by me!” Stuff like that shows that the little things do count!
