When I think of recycling, I immediately think of paper, plastic, and soda cans.  But turns out you can recycle your very own makeup products after you’re done using them!  Pretty cool, right?  Here are three different ways to recycle your products to make sure you’re getting the most out of them!

  • Depending on the brand of your makeup, you can recycle a certain number of empty containers for a brand-new product! Chelsea Crockett - MAC LipstickBrands such as M.A.C. for example will take six of your empty M.A.C. product containers and give you a free lipstick in return.  Look up a couple of your favorite brands and see if they offer any deals like this as well!
  • Be smart when you buy! If you care enough to put in a little research, see which brands make their product containers out of recyclable material.  Whether the product is made with glass, plastic, or another material, we can be smart about which products we can recycle and which have to go in the trash.
  • Think of how many products fall to the bottom of your makeup bag that go completely unused. I know for me, it’s a lot!  I encourage you to go through your bags monthly or every few months and find the products you have yet to open.  Odds are, if you haven’t opened them yet, you probably don’t need them! I encourage you to donate them to a women’s shelter nearby or find someone who would appreciate it more than you would!

Now you can start doing more than just simply using your makeup products!  Find a second purpose for them like the ones above! 🙂

Do you ever wonder what to do with old toothbrushes after you are done using them? I always feel like throwing them away is such a waste. Once you disinfect them, they are a super useful beauty tool! Here are 5 ways to re-purpose that old tooth brush to assist you in your beauty routine.

  1. Tame flyaways: Spray the bristles of the toothbrush and then use it to smooth any flyaway hairs. You can also do this to fix your eyebrows!
  2. Lip exfoliator: Before you put on lip balm, use the brush to scrub the dead skin off of your lips!
  3. Tease your hair: Use the toothbrush to tease your hair. Keep it in your purse to have a teasing brush on the go!
  4. Clean under nails and your cuticles: Use your old toothbrush to get the prettiest and cleanest nails on the block.
  5. De-clump mascara: After you apply mascara, use the toothbrush to separate your lashes.

Can you think of any other ways to use an old toothbrush in your beauty routine? Comment them below!

3 Ways to Reuse Your Old Mascara Wand

It is always a sad day when my mascara finally runs out. I feel like I am wasting a perfectly good tube! That is why I was so happy to find these three uses for old mascara wands! What a shame to put a perfectly good mascara brush to waste. Here are they are!

  1. Eyebrow brush: Some mornings I wake up and my eyebrows have decided to go all “Albert Einstein” on me and tumblr_m047vxQ4621qhfby5spaz out. So, that is where my old mascara wand comes in handy. After the wand is completely cleaned of all old mascara, I use the wand to brush and style my brows.
  2. Separating lashes: Some days my lashes are total bffs; they stick together. And some days, that is NOT what I want. I want my lashes to look full, so I take my old mascara wand and comb out my eyelashes.
  3. Tame flyaway hairs: Do you ever have those times where your hair just wants to stand up straight on top of your head and do its own thing? Well your old clean mascara wand is here to be your crazy-hair tamer! Spray a bit of hairspray onto the wand and comb it over the unruly hairs.

Ask not what you can do for your old mascara wand, but what IT can do for YOU!

I have been reading the comments on some of my articles lately and have gotten a ton of requests for a tutorial on how to make a diy t-shirt scarf! Well, my beautiful Insiders, it is your lucky day! Introducing, how to make a perfect t-shirt scarf!

All you will need is a t-shirt of your choice and a pair of sharp scissors! The only thing I suggest when it comes to t-shirt choice is that you choose a shirt that doesn’t have a lot of designs on it. The more designs or logos on it, the less uniform and put-together your scarf will look.

 1.   Lay out your shirt on a flat surface.

2. Cut off the bottom hem of your shirt, and then start cutting horizontal strips about ½ inch wide. Cut these strips all the way up the shirt until you reach the armpits.

3. Once you have cut the strips, take about three of them at a time and stretch them out. Once you have stretched out all of your strips, you are done with your scarf! How easy was that?! Just drape the loops around your neck and pair them with any solid shirt, like the picture below!

When people ask you “Where did you get that adorable scarf?!” you can tell them that you made it! They will be so impressed with you!
