The Met Gala just happened and it was one of the best years yet, filled with lots of celebrities, stylish attires, and new trends!  I’m sure you saw some of the most popular looks from the red carpet, but there were plenty that went unnoticed, as well.  Here are a few overall trends from the event!

  • Red, red, and more red! Chelsea Crockett - Met Gala Red Dress Red has always been one of my favorite colors to wear when I have a big event to go to.  It’s a color that draws attention and looks great in photos! 🙂
  • Open backs.  Remember when cutouts were a big thing?  Well at the Met Gala this year, there were lots of jumpsuits and dresses with open or low backs!
  • Silver accessories.  Silver is my favorite type of jewelry to wear at the moment and apparently it was for the celebrities on the red carpet, as well!  It’s easy to match with any colors and shades, so owning a lot of silver is never a bad thing!
  • Fringe.  Fringed clothing and shoes can either be really cute or over-the-top, but all of the different fringe looks from the Met Gala were super stylish and definitely stood out!

Which trend from this year’s Met Gala is your favorite?  Tell me in the comment section below!

Do you ever get sick of your hair color?  I know I do!  Of course I’ll never do anything dramatic like dye my hair blonde, but adding a hint of color is a great way to spice up your look.  Some colors are more daring than others, but in the end a slight change in color is all you need!

If you’re sick of your blonde hair, there are two really great options to change up your blonde hair color.  If you want to go lighter, try icy blonde highlights.  The highlights will add to your natural color without making your hair look too blonde, or worse…white!  If you’re looking to go darker without going brunette, adding honey highlights will do the trick!  You could even try going strawberry blonde for a more daring look.

Brunettes have a lot of options when it comes to changing up their hair color.  Adding dark or light brown highlights is an easy transition to a different shade of brown.  If you’re looking for a more daring color, try adding dark red or plum undertones to your hair.  The change won’t be too dramatic, but the colors will really stand out in the light! Chelsea Crockett- red hair When it comes to black hair, there isn’t much that can be changed; but if you want to try something really different try adding blue undertones to your hair.  This will make your black hair appear softer, but have an edge to it.

I do not recommend dying your hair on your own.  Go to a trusted salon for any of your hair color desires and talk to your parents first!

Chelsea

If you live in or have ever visited the east coast, then you know what the nautical look is!  Cape Cod, famous for its nautical atmosphere, is buzzing with this style!  Sailor shorts, stripes, anchors, and colors of the sea are all part of the look!  Even if you don’t live in that part of the country, that’s okay!  Check out how you can bring the nautical style to your closet!Chelsea Crockett- nautical looks

The stripe is the first and foremost most important part of going nautical.  Whether it’s a striped dress, shirt, or shorts, this pattern must be incorporated into your outfit.  One of my favorite ways to wear stripes is to pair a navy striped shirt with white or red shorts.  These colors scream nautical and it’s the simplest way to obtain the look!  If you want to try something bolder, grab a pair of sailor shorts and pair it with an open button up or striped tee.  Looking effortless is what it’s all about!

An open scarf and fedora hat are also key pieces.  Try a pair of white skinny jeans paired with a red, navy, or yellow top.  Complete the look by throwing on a fedora and a scarf draped around your neck.  Keep the colors neutral or, once again, try stripes.

The nautical look, with a few key pieces, is easy to obtain!  Shock all of your friends this summer with an effortless, nautical ensemble!

Love,

Chelsea

What’s Your Best Color?

So, you have blonde hair and pale skin.  You love how some colors look on you and hate others.  Why is that?  Well, everyone has certain colors that look best on them based off their skin tone and hair color.  Everyone is different, so choosing the right colors is important for a killer outfit!

Having blonde hair usually means you have lighter skin, which calls for special color choices.  If you have blue eyes, then definitely go for a royal or icy blue.  This will really highlight your eyes without making you look washed out.  Pink and green are also complementary colors for blonde haired people.  Pink will give you that “cool” complexion, while green enhances gold hues in your hair.  Last, nudes, neutrals, and silver are also a safe bet for blondes.  These colors add warmth to your complexion making you appear to be tanner than you are.Chelsea Crockett- neutral colors

Deep and bold toned colors are best for brunettes.  Since brunettes typically have a more olive or tanner complexion, it’s easier to pull off bold colors.  The true winners for brunettes are red, orange, and jewel-toned colors such as plum, ruby, emerald green, and gold.  All of these colors highlight the dark tones in your hair and can pull out red hues if you happen to have a red tint in your hair, such as auburn.  All of these colors complement your skin tone and hair color at once.

If you have red hair, make sure to avoid red, yellow, and orange in your wardrobe.  These color choices would be overkill for your complexion giving it a reddish tint.  Instead go for greens, navy blue, lavender, and shades of brown.  These colors will complement your skin tone, keeping your skin from looking red.  For a burst of color try turquoise to really bring out your red hair.

Knowing how to work your hair color and skin tone are important for a to-die-for look.  Next time you’re out shopping, keep an eye out for these specific colors!

A beautiful, bold, or subtle color is an obvious part of any wardrobe.  Whether you’re wearing a hot pink dress, black blazer, or jean shorts and a neutral tee, the colors you wear say a lot about your personality.  Next time you take a look at your outfit or closet, check out which color you own the most of!

  • Black: If you find yourself wearing a lot of black, you’re probably a strong, powerful woman.  Black is a fierce color, which is perfect for a job interview or a presentation day at school!
  • Brown:  This is a very down-to-earth color, which exerts a chill mood.  Try wearing brown for a casual day to the park or a day lying around the house.
  • Purple/Blue/Green:  Deep bold colors like royal blue, emerald green, and purple show intelligence and creativity.  Incorporating these colors in an outfit show a fun side to any personality through a pop of color.
  • Yellow/Pink:  Those who wear yellow and pink have a fun side to them!  Yellow and pink are bright, bubbly colors which are perfect for anyone who is upbeat.  Try wearing these colors more during this spring season.
  • Red:  This is one of the most ambitious colors out there.  Red shows power and energy.  Most people who wear red are goal-oriented, courageous, Chelsea Crockett- red dressand aren’t afraid to stand out!  You can’t be shy if you’re wearing red!

Colors are so powerful and tell a lot about a person!  If you’re bored of your wardrobe, try adding color and flaunt it!

Hi Ladies,

Ahhhh Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year, is right around the corner.  It’s a wonderful time to spend with the person you love or with your best girlfriends!  Even if you don’t have a special someone, you can still make Valentine’s Day an exciting holiday.  One of my favorite treats is cupcakes.  They’re an easy gift to give someone, to share at your “No Boys Allowed” party, or to keep all to yourself.  Check out how to make the cutest and sweetest Valentine’s Day cupcakes around!

Start by buying your favorite flavor of cupcake mix from the store and all of the necessary ingredients (usually listed on the back of the box).  I prefer red velvet since it is Valentine’s Day!  Also, don’t forget to grab white icing as well as some red food coloring.  Now you’re reading to start cooking!  Once the cupcakes are done baking, place them in the refrigerator, so they can cool faster, and start making the icing.  If you made red velvet cupcakes, then add just a few drops of red food coloring to the jar so the icing turns pink!  If you used any other flavor of cake mix, then add extra drops to make the icing red and mix it up.Chelsea Crockett- Valentine's Day Heart Cupcakes

Next, cut the top off of each cupcake so it is flat on the top.  Make sure you save the top of each cupcake!  Using a heart shaped cookie cutter and the top of each cupcake, cut out a heart in the middle of each piece.  Now, ice each cupcake and lay the top, with the heart, back on top of each cupcake. This way, the heart will be pink or red!  Finish off your cupcake by sprinkling a little powdered sugar on the top and you’re good to go!  I hope you enjoy these cupcakes as much as I did!

Happy Valentine’s Day XOXO,

Memorial Day Fashion

Hello lovelies!

Memorial Day is fast approaching! Today I am going to give you some suggestions on how to look your best on this special day! Whether you are hanging out with friends, throwing a party, or just chilling with your family, I am here to make sure you are looking fab this Memorial Day.

I don’t know if you all know this, but I am really loving the high-waisted shorts trend. They are so adorable and give you a retro look. Search for a pair here:http://tiny.cc/HighWaistedShorts!  You can pair a white or red shirt with a pair of high-waisted shorts for a casual look on Memorial Day. You could also rock an American Flag printed pair like the ones shown in the picture below. Love em! Throw on a pair of white or red sneakers or strappy sandals to complete the look. This outfit is perfect if you plan on hanging out with your friends and keeping things low key.

Another outfit idea is to sport a sweet sundress. Sundresses are ideal when it comes to staying cool while enduring hot weather because they are so loose and flowy. If you are attending a barbecue or an outdoor event, this is your best choice. Not only are sundresses classic and adorable, they are also super comfy. I suggest wearing a sundress that is either white or is accented in patriotic colors for this occasion. Throw on a pair of classy wedge sandals and the outfit is complete! Need help picking out a dress? Check out my example below!

And finally, accessories! A sure way to spruce up any outfit is to add nail color. Paint your nails red or stripe them with white and blue! Another way to add a patriotic splash to your ensemble is to pucker up and apply bright red lipstick. Red lipstick adds character to any outfit!

Memorial Day is about honoring those who have given their lives for our country. On this day we thank the men and women who have sacrificed so much for the freedom and safety of this country. Have a blast this Memorial Day!

Love, Chels
