As most of you know, this last year has been a year of change for me. I started back to college after taking a year break, and I am getting ready move to Georgia. There has also been a ton going on in the midst of all of those changes, so needless to say it has been a nuts year. I saw a quote the other day that spoke right to my situation, and it said “The only way God can show us He’s in control is to put us in situations we can’t control.”

How true is that? In my life, it is painfully true. God doesn’t call us to a comfortable life of contentment, he calls us to do things that take us out of our comfort zone. If you are in a situation where you feel like your life is out of control and it isn’t going the way you planned, just remember that the only way God can show us He is in control is to put us in situations we can’t control. He will pull you out of the situation and will show you that he’s got the whole thing covered.

Why do we pray? God knows everything anyway. He is almighty, soverign, and in control of all things. What could we possibly add to His wisdom with our prayers? That, my friends, is a great question. Why do we pray? Here are some great reasons.

  1. We pray because we are God’s children, and He loves to hear from us!
  2. We pray because it deepens our trust in God. (Philippians 4:6-7)
  3. We pray because it causes us to depend on God. (Isaiah 40:26)
  4. We pray because it gives us the chance to express ourselves completely to the Lord. (Psalms 62:8)
  5. We pray because our prayers move the heart of God. (James 4:2)
  6. We pray because it is an amazing way that we get to be involved with what God is already doing in our world. (1 Thessalonians 5:25)

Mother Teresa said “God shapes the world by prayer. The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.” Prayer is so important, and having a healthy prayer life is crucial to your walk with Jesus!

Why I do A Daily Devotion

Every day I have a quiet time with God. It is my time with God to show Him that He is first in my life. If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you have probably seen me post photos of what I am studying or learning about. I love diving into God’s word and seeing what He will teach me. Here are 3 reasons I make my daily time with God a priority.

1.      God is my refuge: When life gets crazy, scary, overwhelming, or is just getting the best of you, we should run to God. I find safety and rest in Him. Knowing that I have that safe place with Him comes from studying His word. I do a daily time with God even when life is great, because I am preparing for the times when life is not-so-great.

2.      It is a way to worship Him: Time is precious, and we don’t have much of it. We are a go go go society, and we fill our days to the brim. Since time is limited, what we spend our time on shows what we value. When we give God part of our day and spend time with Him, we show Him that we value Him. We show Him he is worthy of our time.

3.      It is exercise: Soul exercise, that is. We exercise our bodies to keep us healthy and strong, so why not exercise our soul to do the same? Devotions force our attention off of ourselves and our selfish distractions and desires and put our pursuit onto God and His purpose and promises for us. When we stop working out, our bodies get out of shape, and when we stop spending time with God every day, our Faith does the same.

I encourage everyone to dive into God’s word and spend time with Him every day. It is amazing what a difference it can make in your life.

When crisis hits, what is your first reaction? Is it panic? Anger? Mine is worry. I worry about what is going to happen next and what the future holds. When my worries start to get the best of me, I remember Philippians 4:6.

Philippians 4:6 says “Don’t worry about anything: Instead pray about everything.” What good can worrying do? It can only make you worry
more. Instead of wasting time, energy and emotion worrying, pray about it! God promises to hear your prayers, plus letting it go and letting God handle it takes a huge weight off of your chest. It is amazing what amazing things God can do in your life when you just let go and pray.

I have started keeping a prayer journal and writing my daily prayers in it. It is a great way to look back and see how God worked in your life through your prayers! Remember, don’t worry about anything, instead pray about everything.

3 Ways to Find God’s Purpose For Your Life

Have you ever felt a little confused or lost about what God’s calling is for you? Sometimes you see people who seem to have fulfilled their God-given calling by using their gifts to work in ministry or an organization or business and wish that you could feel the same sense of purpose. The truth is, you are not alone. Many Christians around the world become confused about what God has called them to do. To me, everyone has multiple purposes in their life and doesn’t just have one main purpose. I think everyone has a personal purpose, a purpose with their family, and a purpose to others. If you have ever been confused about what God is calling you to do or have no idea what God wants to happen in your life, here are three ways that I have found God shows these things to you.

  1. Look at your past experiences: Many times God allows us to go through something and overcome it so that we can have the desire to help others get through the same thing. Your advice and experience may mean the world to someone. Helping others gives you purpose and inspires others to do the same.FullSizeRender (80)
  2. Other people’s stories: Sometimes when we feel like we don’t know our purpose we can be inspired by others. For example, maybe you went on a mission trip and were impacted greatly by the people you met and the lack of food and basic needs that were not being met, and this inspired you to want to help them. Seeing other’s needs and hearing their stories gave you motivation and you found purpose in helping make their lives better.
  3. Wanting to change: If other people’s stories or even your own story doesn’t help you to identify your purpose, then ask yourself the question “What do I want to change about myself?” or “What do I want to change about the world?” It doesn’t have to be something super deep or drastic, it can even be something as simple as wanting other young women like yourself to feel valued and loved by God. This desire could guide you to finding purpose in helping others or even bettering yourself.

God has a purpose for your life, even when it may not seem that way! He loves you like crazy, and he knows what you are capable of.

The other day I saw a really inspiring quote. It said “There isn’t enough room in your mind for both worry and Faith. You must decide which one will live there.”

I love this quote because it tells it to you straight: if you are worried, you need to trust in God and give your worries to Him, because that is how you show your faith. Your mind doesn’t have the energy to hold on to worry but to also trust God with your problems. They contradict each other! You must decide turn-your-worries-into-faithwhich you value more. You must decide which you want to hold on to. For me, I had to decide whether I was going to worry about my life and my future, or whether I was going to put my faith and trust in my Savoir. Ever since I made that decision, I have felt so much peace about my situation. I know that God is in control, and that I need to continue to turn my worries into faith.

Just a little faith talk to inspire you today.

Prayer is a powerful thing. Sometimes, it can be a tough thing to do. Our prayer lives reveal so much about our relationship with God, but sometimes we can put it on the back burner and it can get lost in the craziness of life. We get lazy, busy, or too distracted. Even if you are not much of a prayer, it is so important to maintain a strong prayer life. If yours is in need of a jumpstart, here are a few tips on how to improve your prayer life.

  1. Write your prayers down: Use a journal to write your prayers down. Not only does this help you focus and allows you to vent and get your feelings out, it also allows you to look back at your prayers and see how God worked through them!fullsizerender-59
  2. Doodle your prayers: Yes, doodle! Grab a sketch book or a piece of paper and doodle while you prayer. Draw your prayers or doodle as you pray. It can help calm you and help you surrender your worries to God. It will also be a fun way to incentivize yourself to pray.
  3. Pray through scripture: The Bible is full of prayers. You can take them and adopt them to your life and your prayers, and you can use them as inspiration. The Bible is an awesome resource!
  4. Read about it: There are countless books written about prayer. You can also ask close friends or mentors about how they maintain a strong prayer life. Never be ashamed to ask others about their Faith! They have most likely had the same struggles in their walk with God that you are having and can give you advice on how to overcome them.

Having a strong prayer life is essential. It is how we talk to God, and how he talks back! God loves hearing your prayers.

“She confidently trusts the Lord to take care of her.” This is what Psalm 112:7 proclaims. I love these kinds of verses, ones that give us advice on how to trust God and where putting your faith in God can take you.122

Lets break that verse down. It starts out by saying that she CONFIDENTLY trusts the Lord. She doesn’t just trust Him. She has confidence and is sure of herself. She is sure of the Lord’s care for her life and that He has her future in the palm of His hand. Nothing surprises God. He knows just what you need when you need it. So, lets finish breaking this verse down. She confidently trusts the Lord to what? To take care of her. Isn’t that what most girls seek? To feel safe and to have the feeling that she is taken care of? God has that covered.

Trust confidently in the Lord! He will never let you down.

2 Timothy 4:17 says “But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength.” Have you ever felt like no one had your back and you were alone? Going to college in a new state, I was afraid that I would have a hard time making friends, fitting in and feeling timat home. This verse tells us that we never have to feel like that, because God has our back, always.

In situations where I feel like my faith is being attacked or I am being attacked personally, I always try to remember that the Lord is standing by me and strengthening me. Being on YouTube, I can read the comments on my videos, and sometimes they are not the sweetest words. Don’t get me wrong, there are way more sweet, nice comments and supporters than there are negative Nancy’s. But, sometimes those negative comments can overshadow all of the good. That is when I remember that the Lord with with me and is strengthening me. When you feel like you are alone in a situation, when you feel attacked or belittled, lonely, or you just feel weak and helpless, just remember that the Lord is always by your side, strengthening you.

You are never alone, and you never have to feel weak or helpless! God has your back, always.

Do you ever feel like nobody gets you? Or that nobody is on your side and everyone is against you? It is easy to feel that way. But you know what is awesome? Exodus 14:14 tells us that “The Lord with fight for you, you need only to be still.”

The Lord with fight for you! He has your back and will give you strength. I have been in situations where I feel hopeless and like exodus 14-14everyone is rooting against me. Instead of giving in or giving up, all I need to do is pray and ask God to be with me. The devil will try and steal your joy and bring you down every chance he gets. But you know what? You don’t have to fear because the Lord will go to battle for you. Every day is a battle with sin. The devil tests you and will try and make you falter, but if you pray for God to help you resist sin, the Lord will fight for you. In hard times I have a peaceful heart because I know that if I pray and ask God to protect me from sin and keep me strong, He will provide.

I pray that you come to know Jesus and his love for you. He is ready to fight for you!

What does it mean to “Let go and let God”?

When I hear this phrase, one Bible verse immediately comes to mind. It is Matthew 6:34, which says “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Another is Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” These two verses encompass what it means to “let go and let God.” They show us that we can let go of our worries and stresses because God let-go-let-god-smallknows the plans He has for your future, and they are plans to give you success and prosperity! How great is it to know that we have no need to worry about our future, because God has it all under control? Leave the stress to Him. Give your worries to Him. Cast your cares and anxiety on Him, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7)! Sometimes I get caught up in my worries and stresses and start to feel overwhelmed and bogged down. Then I remember that I need to let go of all of that and give it to God, because His plans are greater than mine. He’s got this!

I hope you can find comfort in this just like I can.

As a Christian, I know how important it is for me to spend time every day in God’s word, but sometimes it is hard to know where to start. I have done lots of Bible studies and read devotionals, but sometimes I just want to start reading the Bible on my own and see where it takes me. If you want to get more out of your Bible study time, try the SOAP method.

S- Scripture: Once you are done with your daily reading, write down one scripture from it that was meaningful to you.download

O- Observation: Think about what was interesting in the passage to you. What did you learn from it? Did God say anything to you through it?

A- Application: Think about how you can apply the scripture to your life and how it can change you.

P- Prayer: Go to God in prayer and ask for the scripture to guide you. Ask God to apply it in your life.

Having a guide on how to apply scripture to your life and how to make it more meaningful for you can drastically change the way you look at scripture. You look at it more as something that is wise and useful rather than something you just read over and sometimes memorize.

SOAP can change your life!

Job 18:11 says “Having hope will give you courage.” In this next season in my life, and a lot of your lives if you are high school seniors going into college soon, we will need a lot of courage.

Courage to defend our Faith, courage to do life how we know we should, not how society says we should, and courage to step out in 10024119142837e7645ed6895cded520the adventure that is college. When Job says that having hope will give you courage, I think this means a few things. I think that first, this means that having hope in Jesus and his promise to guide your life and bless you in ways you cannot imagine. And two, I think this means that you need to have hope in the tough times and in the times when it is hard to find hope. Hope will give you courage to move forward.

So, have hope, even in the hard times, because that will give you courage. The world needs more courageous women like you!

Does life have you feeling like you just can’t win? Do you feel defeated or confused at why God is putting you through difficult times? Or, are you having trouble understanding why bad things happen to you when you are such a good person? Are you mad at God for the situations He has put you in? John 13:7 has some words of wisdom for you.john 13

John 13:7 says “Jesus replied ‘You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.’” This verse pretty much says that you might not know what God is working in your life or why he has put you in the situation or difficult times, but someday you will understand. When you feel frustrated or afraid or mad at what is going on in your life, just know that it is all for a reason. God does not give you anything you cannot handle. He knows your limits, he knows your strengths, and He knows what is best for you. In the future you will be able to look back at these hard times and know that God had his hand in all of it.

Keep the faith, keep praying, and keep trusting that God has got this all under control.

Have you ever wanted something so bad and worked so hard for it…and then didn’t get it? And you wondered why God would do this to you, you deserved it, right? It could be a scholarship, boyfriend, job, winning a sports event, anything that you strive for and want more than anything. Daniel 3:17-18 gives us a little reality check when we don’t get the things we really want.daniel

Daniel 3:17-18 says “And if not, He is still GOOD.” This means that if God doesn’t give you what you want or badly desire or have strived for, He is still good. He knows what is best for you, and maybe getting the job or boyfriend would have led to something negative in the future. He knows how much you can handle in your life, and He knows what your life has in store for you. Think about all of the other things He has given you in your life! You are incredibly blessed. He is SO good!

So, when you don’t God doesn’t give you exactly what you want or have strived for, just remember all of the other blessings in your life and that He is good!
