You all know I love dry shampoo. I am pretty sure that it is one of the best inventions to hit the beauty market. It helps dry up the oils in your hair so that it doesn’t look greasy, and it can help your hair hold a tease! Dry shampoo can sometimes be expensive and can cause product buildup on your hair. I found a DIY recipe for dry shampoo and got so excited. You can make this stuff for less than 2$ a bottle! You cannot beat that!

Recipe for dark hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarchtumblr_mljrehPMNC1qdwkufo1_1280
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Mix all of these ingredients together in a small bowl. My suggestion is that you put the ingredients into an old spice bottle because the spice bottles have holes in the lids so you can sprinkle the dry shampoo on your roots easier.

     Recipe for light hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Do the same exact steps as in the first recipe. You can use a makeup brush to apply the powder to your scalp as another application option.

Pinch Some Pennies on Primer!

Hey ladies, how many of you like to save money? I know that money is tight with a lot of families right now, so I thought I would fill you…

Hey ladies, how many of you like to save money? I know that money is tight with a lot of families right now, so I thought I would fill you in on an amazing money-saving tip that I just discovered. Let me tell you about this amazing tip.

How many of you use makeup primer before applying your foundation or powder? I am guessing most of you do. Primer helps get your skin ready for your foundation by smoothing out your complexion and reducing the size of your pores. It also helps your makeup to stay on longer. The only problem with using primer is the price. Primer can be a bit costly, and if you use it often it can really add up. I was browsing Pinterest and I came across an article about how women are starting to use Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel as their primer, and are LOVING it! I became curious and started browsing for more info. They say that the anti-chafing gel leaves their skin smooth and makes their pores appear smaller. They also say that by applying the gel before they put on foundation and powder, it helps keep their makeup on longer and keeps their skin from becoming oily for a long time. Anti-chafing gel is actually used in primers and BB creams to help them stay on longer.Chelsea crockett primer 2

I was so excited to try this out! I went to my local Walgreens and picked up a box of the Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel for about 6$. It is usually located near the tampons and such. I came home and applied a little bit to my skin before applying my foundation and powder, and was amazed! The gel really does make your skin smooth and it really does keep your skin from becoming too oily! I totally recommend this product to any of you ladies who either have oily skin or just want to keep their makeup lasting all throughout the day.

Give it a try!

College Students: Budgeting

Hi Insiders,             Now I know a lot of my followers aren’t in college, but for those who are or are starting, here’s a guide to budgeting during your college…

Hi Insiders,

Now I know a lot of my followers aren’t in college, but for those who are or are starting, here’s a guide to budgeting during your college years.  It’s easy to spend your money quickly when you go out with friends or at school events, but trust me saving up will pay off in the long run!  Follow these quick tips and you’ll be on your way to stashing money in no time!Chelsea Crockett- saving money

  1. Try the “pay check” trick!  Whenever you get a pay check, put half of your earnings in your wallet and half in your savings account.  Do this right away!  That way, you can’t spend that money even if you wanted to!
  2. Check out your local businesses!  Most restaurants and shops around a college town offer student discounts.  If you feel like eating out or shopping, check out one of those places.  It’ll save you money and support local businesses.  It’s a win-win situation!  Plus, most of these places are in walking distance, so you don’t have to spend gas money!
  3. Say no to your credit card!  When you go out with friends, withdraw a specific amount of cash.  This will stop you from spending more than you want to.
  4. Be careful with the saying “I’ll pay you back!”  A lot of times, your friends will forget or take a long time to get the money to you.  Be careful!

Whether it’s for a Spring Break trip, Study Abroad, or for your future, saving money is a very important life lesson!

Enjoy college!
