To me, sequins are a vital accessory when it comes to winter fashion. They can take any outfit from simple to stunning. Here are my top 3 favorite ways to style sequins.

  1. Skirts: I bought 2 sequined pencil skirts at H&M last season and im so glad I did. I style them with tights and a simple blouse to balance out the pazazz of the skirt. They are a great Christmas/New Years party outfit option!sequin
  2. Clutches: If you want to wear sequins in the most subtle way possible, grab a sequined clutch. Target has so many cute ones this season! They are a great way to add feminine flare to your outfit, plus they are a great statement piece.
  3. Blazers: This is the easiest way to style sequins. By tossing on a sequined blazer you can add sass to any ensemble. Wear it with jeans and a simple tee for a contrasting look, or pair it with dress pants or a skirt for a cute date night outfit.

How will you style sequins this winter?

For those of you that attend a private school or go to a school that requires a uniform, like a plaid skirt, you probably hate the sound of plaid.  Fortunately for you, plaid is back!  It is a design that fades in and out of the fashion world.  It can be seen on high fashion runways and on the streets of New York City and Los Angeles.  So think of your plaid uniform as high fashion!  Here’s all you need to know on rocking plaid. Chelsea Crockett- plaid shirts            A plaid button up is a must for every closet.  It is so versatile!  For that street style look, throw on a pair of high waisted shorts and a tank top.  Leave your plaid button up open and wear it over the tank.  You can roll the sleeves or leave them down!  It’s such a simple look!  If you want to go for a “grungier” look, try a pair of combat boots!  For a dressier plaid look, all you need is a little sparkle.  Throw on a sequin tank over a plaid dress or skirt.  Pair with tights and a cute pair of booties and you’re good to go!  It’s perfect for a night out on the town!  So next time you’re out shopping, pick up some plaid.  You can’t go wrong!

Winter Party Fashion!

Everyone loves a good winter party, right? Today I am going to help you pick out the most fab outfit possible to wear to one. Hopefully this will help you avoid the crisis situation that starts with the words “I have nothing to wear!”

Let’s start with the bottom and work our way up. A cute bottom to wear to any holiday party is black skinny jeans. They are not too uncomfortable and can dress up any outfit. They give you a “put together” look and are a bit classier than regular denim jeans. You can also pair a cute skirt with tights or leggings! What I like to do is pair black tights with a sequined or bright colored skirt. For a holiday party, I would choose a red or a bold colored skirt and black tights.sequin skirt- Chelsea Crockett

And finally on to shoes! With the skirt I would wear cute booties or flats. You can also wear a pair of sparkly flats with your black skinnies to spice things up a bit! Another shoe option to try with the black pants is black boots.

Now to the top! For any outfit during the fall and winter I love layering. You can layer a sequined tank under a black blazer, a sheer blouse under a leather studded jacket, or a classic sweater with a printed scarf. You could even pair a sparkly blazer with a neutral colored shirt.  So many options!sequin jacket- Chelsesa Crockett

But yet another option is to wear a dress! You can wear a retro dress with a full skirt or a glittery cocktail dress! Under the cocktail dress you can pair black tights and short boots with a leather jacket to keep you cozy! Who can forget the “little black dress”? These dresses come in all shapes, sizes and lengths. They are always a safe choice to any holiday party. Black dresses are the universal party dress!

I hope that this has helped you get past the “I have nothing to wear!” crisis. Go out there and show everyone at the party how fashionable you are. Choose one of these outfits, and I guarantee you will have heads turning.

XOXO, Chels
