What to Wear to an Outdoor Concert

Summertime is the best time, filled with sun, friends, and lots of outdoor concerts to attend!  If you’ve ever been to an outdoor concert, then you know just how fun they can be.  There are several guidelines you should follow when picking out your outfit, considering how hot and stuffy outdoor concerts usually are!  Here’s a little help. 🙂

Chelsea Crockett - Concert OutfitUnlike music festivals, you won’t have a long day filled with tons of different concerts and events.  In this case, you don’t have to consider the heat and sun as much as you would at a day-long festival.  Usually outdoor amphitheater concerts are at night, so you shouldn’t be too hot and sweaty!  First, you’ll need to consider the main look you’re going for.  I suggest a cute romper or high waisted shorts and a nice shirt/tank.  The picture on the left is a perfect example!  A jean skirt, with an off-the-shoulder shirt and double braids is so cute!Chelsea Crockett - Concert Outfit

Although you won’t go as “all out” as you would for a full music festival, you can still accessorize just as much.  Depending on the weather, you might even have to bring along a jacket for when the sun goes down!  The picture on the right is a super cute look too if you want to be a little more casual.

What are you wearing next time you go to an outdoor concert?  Let me know below, I may copy your look for this summer! 🙂

When you outgrow your clothes, or simply get tired of them, there’s plenty of DIY options to give them another use!  Whether it be turning your old t-shirts into a quilt or an old sweater into a scarf, giving them new life is always a fun and creative craft to do when you have the time!  Here are 3 recycle DIYs for your old clothes and accessories. 🙂Chelsea Crockett - DIY Jeans

  • If you have an old pair of jeans that you don’t wear anymore, give them a makeover!  Styles of jeans change so often, so if you have a pair that are out of style, why not trim them up like the picture on the right?  All you have to do is take some chalk to mark the scallops in the right place (you can even use a small Dixie cup to get the right curves).  Then, make the cut!
  • If you have a plain old colored shirt or tank, try out reverse tie dye!  If you know how to tie die, it’s basically using bleach instead of colored dye.  Look up different styles you can make with where you put the rubber bands and go to town!
  • Maxi skirts have gone in and out of style over the past few years.  If you have one that you never wear anymore, you can cut it up to make it into a sundress or a swimsuit cover-up.  Depending on the material, try it out for yourself!

Have you ever tried one of these before?  Let me know below how yours turns out!

Fall 2016 Off-the-Shoulder Style

Off-the-shoulder style is one of my favorite looks.  It gives off an elegant, feminine vibe that can sometimes be hard to pull off with a simple piece of clothing.  But with off-the-shoulder shirts and dresses, you can put together a classy outfit in seconds!

One of my favorite materials for fall is suede, so pairing it with this style is super cute!  Chelsea Crockett - Suede DressThe dress on the left is a good example of this.  Pairing it with wedged booties, a choker, and a bold lip creates a perfect dressy outfit for fall.  Maybe you have a dinner date or an event that you have to dress up for.  This look is elegant, classy, and can be dressed up or dressed down!

If you want a more casual off-the-shoulder look for fall, another fave outfit of mine is a denim, long-sleeved shirt.  Denim is another one of my favorite fall materials, whether it be a denim jacket, skirt, etc.  It’s an easy color to pair with black jeans and a cute hat!

Apart from suede dresses and denim tops, there are so many different off-the-shoulder looks you can come up with!  A lot of stores will be selling fall-inspired tops so keep an eye out! 🙂

I love sheer blouses. They are loose, flowy, and flirty! A lot of times, though, I am kind of reluctant to don a sheer blouse because I don’t know what to wear under it! I want to be modest in the way that I dress, and sometimes it is hard to know how to achieve this goal when wearing sheer clothing. Here are 3 tips for when you wear sheer clothing.

  1. Layer it: Of course, when you are wearing sheer shirts you want to layer them. Sheer shirts with nothing under tumblr_m8xzv8VJIr1rbicmeo1_400them leave little to the imagination, which is not our goal! Try pairing your sheer shirt with a stylish tank or crop top. Or you can even layer your favorite simple cami!
  2. Keep it loose: Sheer blouses are best worn loose. The tighter the sheer shirt, the more revealing it is. Your sheer look should be relaxed and floaty, so keep your sheer shirt chic by wearing it in a looser fitting style.
  3. Button it up: Look chic when you wear your sheer blouse by buttoning it up all the way. When you wear your sheer shirts in this modest manner, you balance out the sheer nature of the shirt. Tuck your sheer top into a pencil skirt or toss on a blazer for a more professional look.

Now you can rock sheer shirts without a problem!

DIY T-Shirt Scarf!

I have been reading the comments on some of my articles lately and have gotten a ton of requests for a tutorial on how to make a diy t-shirt scarf! Well, my beautiful Insiders, it is your lucky day! Introducing, how to make a perfect t-shirt scarf!

All you will need is a t-shirt of your choice and a pair of sharp scissors! The only thing I suggest when it comes to t-shirt choice is that you choose a shirt that doesn’t have a lot of designs on it. The more designs or logos on it, the less uniform and put-together your scarf will look.

 1.   Lay out your shirt on a flat surface.

2. Cut off the bottom hem of your shirt, and then start cutting horizontal strips about ½ inch wide. Cut these strips all the way up the shirt until you reach the armpits.

3. Once you have cut the strips, take about three of them at a time and stretch them out. Once you have stretched out all of your strips, you are done with your scarf! How easy was that?! Just drape the loops around your neck and pair them with any solid shirt, like the picture below!

When people ask you “Where did you get that adorable scarf?!” you can tell them that you made it! They will be so impressed with you!

DIY Watermark Tee

I recently saw this tutorial on Pinterest and thought that this so cute and creative! What is really unique about this DIY is that it is totally customizable! What do I mean? You can put whatever quote, verse, or lyric you want on it! On my shirt, I used the quote “When you feel like you’re drowning in life, don’t worry, our lifeguard walks on water.”

 What you will need:

–          Elmer’s Blue Gel glue (It HAS to be the blue kind, or it will not work!)

Chelsea Crockett watermark tee

–          Fabric dye

–          White cotton tee

1. Wet your tee with cool water and place a board between the layers of the shirt, like the lid of a tub.

2. Start drawing! Take the glue and write your favorite verse or quote across the front of the shirt. Pinterest is a great place to find quotes, too! Let the glue dry completely. This may take a few hours!

4. Prepare your tub of dye. Use cool water to make it, and remember that the color that comes out of the tub of dye will be a couple shades darker than your finished shirt! When you get the color you want, lay your tee out flat to dry.

5. When your tee is completely dry, soak it in cool, soapy about 15 minutes. This washes out the extra glue. Toss it in the washer and dry as you would normally!

I have found that these tees make great gifts to friends! Do you have a song that you and a friend call “your song”? Then slap the lyrics on one of these tee’s and give it to them for Christmas! They will love it, and it will mean so much to them that you made it!

What To Do With Clothes You Don’t Want Anymore!

Hello Lovelies,             Dealing with clothes you don’t like anymore or ones that don’t fit can be a hassle.  You feel bad not wearing them and they take up room…

Hello Lovelies,

Dealing with clothes you don’t like anymore or ones that don’t fit can be a hassle.  You feel bad not wearing them and they take up room in your closet.  Sometimes, old clothes can just keep piling up!  Luckily, there are many things you can do with clothing you don’t want anymore!

  • Cut it up!  If you have a shirt that you still like, but is a little too tight, try altering it yourself.  Cut the sleeves so it is a tank top and make the neck a v-neck.  This will automatically make the top looser.  If it is a little tight in the waist either try making a small slit at the bottom of each side at the seam or wash the shirt and stretch it out yourself.  Don’t dry it!
  • If you feel like making a little money, take your clothes to a resell-it shop.  Although you won’t make a lot of money off your old clothes, it’s better than letting them sit in your closet.  Make a small profit instead of letting them go to waste!
  • Donate!!!  Donating your clothing to organizations like the Salvation Army or to a family in need is such a great feeling.  If you don’t need the clothes anymore, then give them to someone who does! Chelsea Crockett- donating clothes

Don’t let old clothes go to waste at the bottom of your closet.  There are plenty of other options!  Start today and clean up your wardrobe!
