Usually when we need to shave our legs, we simply like to get the job done.  But there’s certain things that we can do to make our legs smoother, more hydrated, and better shaved!  Here are a few tips and tricks that will make you think twice about how you’ve been shaving your legs!

Before: With shaving, it’s all about making your legs as smooth as possible.  The day before (or at least before you shave), use a scrub to exfoliate.  Chelsea Crockett - Vaseline LotionThis will clear out any dead skin and leave your skin smooth for a gentle, clean shave!

During:  Before jumping in and shaving right away, wait toward the end of the shower.  The heat and moisture will loosen up your pores and allow for a better shave!  Although this may be obvious, make sure you’re shaving in the opposite direction of your hair.  Also, a gel or foam is the best product to use to prevent dryness, rashes, or razor burns!

After:  Especially when you shave, you’ll need to moisturize and hydrate your skin.  Try using a lotion that isn’t overly perfumed or includes a ton of alcohol like the one on the left.  This way you can make sure your legs are getting all the hydration they need!

If you’re not following these pointers, then I urge you to do so!  They really do make a difference!

Let’s face it. We all strive to shower every day, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Life gets busy, schedules get tighter, you have places to go and people to see and no time to take a shower! There are a few ways to get the just-showered fresh feeling without taking the time to, well, actually shower. So, if you’ve been busy all day and don’t have time to hop in the shower before heading out the door, here are a couple of ways to freshen up fast.

  1. Hair fragrance mist: Good-smelling hair is always a confidence booster. When you have fresh hair, you feel fresh all over, that is why hair mist is a must. Spritz some hair fragrance mist onto your locks before running out the door to leave your tresses smelling fabulous.k2-_58f0fc6c-3aae-4f3b-bc0f-8b25b94f9ae3.v1
  2. Dry shampoo: If you don’t have hair mist, opt for dry shampoo! It will suck up all of the oils and sweat from your hair and leave it smelling and looking fresh.
  3. Blotting papers: Use absorbent facial blotting papers to blot away the excess oil on your face throughout the day. I know when I have a busy day and I am going from one task to another, I can feel my face getting oily and shiny. These keep your makeup looking fresh and matte by dabbing the excess oil off of your face.
  4. Baby wipes: Use any sort of wet wipe to freshen up during the day. Keep a package in your purse so that you can freshen up any time you need. These give your skin a quick refresher and leave you smelling and feeling fresh and clean.

I know how crazy busy life can get, and how showering can become a sort of chore because you have way better uses of your time than standing in a stream of water, so that is why these tips are so useful!

It is a rule of thumb to never wear white to a wedding, but what about to a bridal shower? Not many people talk about the do’s and dont’s of bridal shower attire, so that is what I am here for! Spring and summer are prime wedding season, and one of my friends is getting married this summer, so this is good to know! Usually, sweet, fun, and girly are three good adjectives to describe shower attire. If you are attending a bridal shower soon, check out this style guide to get the low-down.

  1. First, floral: Floral patterns qualify as fun AND girly! I have been really into floral prints lately. They look so fresh and sweet. They even give a slight retro vibe! Here is my floral pick.

  2. Then comes sweet and simple: Soft colors are always a safe choice when it comes to spring and summer wear, especially bridal shower attire. This pastel halter dress encompasses the “sweet and simple” vibe perfectly!
  3. Finally, girly: What is more girly than ruffles? Nothing. I am convinced. A ruffled off-the shoulder dress is a simply adorable choice of attire. Wear with sandals or wedges for a sweet summer vibe.

Next time you are heading to a bridal shower, think “sweet, floral, and girly” when picking out your outfit and you will be in good shape!

Is There A Correct Time To Shower?!

Everyone is made differently and everybody’s bodies react to germs, the outdoors, and other factors differently as well.  The way your body reacts can give you an indication of when the right time to shower is for you.  It’s all about feeling your best and cleanest at all times!

You should take morning showers if….

  • You’re okay with waking up early. A morning shower is a great way to help wake you up and get your day started!
  • You’re a night sweater.  If you tend to sweat in your sleep, it’s easy to wake up feeling gross.  A morning shower can take that gross feeling away real quick!
  • You’re in a fairly clean environment.  An argument to showering at night is that it’s healthy to get off all the germs before you go to bed.  If you have a day with low activity, showering in the morning is just fine!

You should take night showers if…

  • You like to feel clean before going to bed!
  • You’ve been outside all day or in an unclean environment.
  • It helps you relax.
  • You have dry skin.  This way, you can lather your clean body with heavy moisturizer and lotion before going to bed.

Whether you shower in the morning or at night, always be sure to take your makeup off before you go to sleep!  This way, your pores don’t have a chance to absorb extra dirt!

Showering may seem like second nature, and you probably do the same routine every time like clockwork. Knowing how to strategically shower can not only drastically improve your hygiene, it can also help you get shiny hair and clear skin! Here is how to shower like a pro.

  1. Brush first: Brushing your hair before you shower can help prevent post-shower tangles, which can save your hair a world of breakage.flipside
  2. Rinse well: Before you start to shampoo your hair, rinse it off really well with warm water. It will loosen the dirt and oil and open the hair cuticle.
  3. Lather Right: Shampooing your hair should take 30-60 seconds. You should gently massage the shampoo into your hair, but just at the roots. You should never scrub the ends because they are fragile.
  4. Condition quick: Get all of the water off of your hair and then concentrate the conditioner on the ends of your hair. Then rinse it out right away.
  5. Face last: Use the steam of the shower to your advantage! Your pores are open, so clean them out! Then rinse with cold water to close your pores.

Now you can call yourself a shower pro! Did you figure out what you were doing right/wrong?

Sometimes life can be hectic and being a girl doesn’t help out.  Between blow drying and styling your hair, putting on your makeup, and picking out the perfect outfit, a time crunch is the last thing you need!  So what do you do when you have just enough time to shower, but no time to do your hair?  No worries!  I’ve got the perfect solution to styling wet hair!

If you have a long drive to your final destination, curl your hair through air drying.  Once in the car, divide your hair into 4-6 sections.  Twist each section and slowly lay them down.  Once each section is twisted, try not to move your head too much so the hair stays in place.  Once you reach your destination, shake out your hair to reveal soft, pretty curls!Chelsea Crockett- wet bun

If you want a more professional look, try wearing your hair up.  Since wet hair stays in place easier, try a twisted bun.  Brush all of your hair up into a high pony tail and twist your hair tight until it coils into a bun.  Secure it with bobby pins and you’re good to go!  The easiest of all wet hair styles is a simple side braid.  As your hair dries, you can take it out of the braid to reveal wavy hair or leave it in!

Next time you’re in a hurry, don’t panic! Styling your hair in a flash has never been easier!

Washing your hair: You’re doing it wrong! I had no idea that I was making so many mistakes! Here is an inside look on how to get the most out of your shower.

 1. If you have long hair, condition first.

Yes, you read right! If your hair is past your shoulders, you can protect your ends by running a small amount of conditioner through them and lightly rinsing, before you shampoo. This not only keeps your ends healthy, it will boost your shine!

2. Lather up at the scalpwoman-shampooing

You really only need to lather up at your scalp! The hair closest to the scalp is the youngest and oiliest, and the hair at the ends is the oldest and driest! The best way to shampoo is from roots to ends.

5. Don’t rinse and repeat.
There is no need to wash your hair twice.  You can avoid stripping and drying out your hair by only shampooing once. If your hair is super oily, then you can lather up a second time.

I hope these tips give you shiny, voluminous hair, ladies!

Have you ever looked into a magnifying mirror and noticed how big your pores are?  Unfortunately, people with big pores are more prone to black heads.  Black heads are pesky and can be tough to get rid of.  You can pick and squeeze them as much as you want, but they’re still there!  They seem to never go away!  Luckily by following this 5-step system, you can banish black heads for good.

Start by taking a really hot shower which will open up pores.  As soon as you get out of the shower, start extracting the black heads by squeezing as many as possible.  It’s important to get all the dirt out.  Next, apply a thick moisturizer all over your face to hydrate and lock the heat from the shower in.  Apply plastic wrap to the worst areas, like your nose for example, and place a hot towel on top of the plastic wrap for a few seconds.  Last, wrap tissue around each pointer finger before squeezing the last of the blackheads out.  This will reduce fingernail marks and skin creases.  Apply a toner over the area to reduce oil buildup and you’re done!

Reducing blackheads takes time, but if you do this quick process when you start noticing them, they should eventually banish for good!

Love,
