S’mores are fall’s favorite treat. Not only do you get to cozy up to a fire while you make them, but they are so ooey and gooey and delicious. Not all of us have access to a bonfire whenever we feel the urge to enjoy a s’more, so that is where s’mores bark comes in. You can make this inside and enjoy it from the comfort of your kitchen! Plus, it is easily share-able.

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup marshmallow fluff
  • 3 sheets of graham crackers

Melt 1 ½ cups of chocolate chips and spread it over a pan covered in wax paper. Make sure the chocolate is layered thick. Refrigerate this for about an hour. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave. Then add in the marshmallow fluff and microwave it for about 30 seconds. Quickly spread the marshmallow and white chocolate layer over the hardened first chocolate layer. Crumble the graham crackers and press them into the marshmallow/chocolate layer. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, meanwhile melting 2 cups of chocolate chips. Spread this over the graham cracker layer and put it in the fridge for 2 hours. Take it out and break it apart. Store it in the fridge if you want a solid bark, and if you want it squishy leave it out in a covered container.

Yum!

I have experimented with skillet s’mores before, and I totally love them. When I saw this recipe for Peeps s’mores in a skillet, I could not believe I had not thought of it before! Peeps are the staple Easter candy. Those little marshmallows are pure sugar and pure yum. Here is how to make chocolate peanut butter Peeps s’mores in a skillet!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of chocolate chips, dark or milk chocolate
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 packages of Peeps marshmallows
  • Graham crackers for dipping

Grab a skillet or empty aluminum pie pan and place the chocolate chips in the bottom in an even layer. Drop spoon fulls of the peanut butter on top of the chips, then cover all of that up with the Peeps! Turn your oven’s broiler to high and place the skillet or pie pan in the oven for 1-2 minutes. Watch it carefully because the marshmallows brown quickly. Take them out when they are golden and the chocolate chips are melting. Let them cool a bit, then enjoy!

This snack is great to take to family Easter gatherings or to a friend’s house for deliciously gooey snacking.

Happy Easter!

Everyone knows the rule: don’t go on Pinterest when you’re hungry! Unfortunately, I’m now craving a chocolatey treat. I found a recipe for s’mores krispie treats and they look to die for! They’re simple to make and fun for a summer treat. Here’s what you need to know:

First comes first, ingredients… You’ll need 3 tablespoons of butter, a pinch salt, 5 cups of mini marshmallows, 6 cups of Graham cereal pieces, and 3 Hershey’s® chocolate bars. First off, melt the butter in a pot and stir in the salt. Chelsea Crockett - Smores Krispie TreatsStir in 4 cups of marshmallows in the melted butter until they’re completely melted as well. Take the pot off of heat and stir in the cereal and the extra cup of mini marshmallows. For the next part, make sure your Hershey’s® bars are broken into individual squares (it’s easiest to do this before you start the process to save time). Spray a pan with cooking spray and quickly pour in half of your mixture onto the pan. Add a layer of broken chocolate pieces on top of the mixture. Repeat this step again by adding the second half of the mixture followed by the rest of the chocolate pieces. Let it sit overnight or in the refrigerator for an hour.

Lastly, enjoy! YUM!

It has been raining non-stop where I live, so I really haven’t been able to do anything fun outdoors for a while. Instead of sitting around and pouting about the rain, I decided to figure out fun things my friends and I could do indoors. I can remember making blanket forts when I was little and having a blast, so we decided to make tons of forts and then watch movies under them. Here is a perfect rainy day tent snack…S’mores dip!enhanced-9943-1435096761-7

  • 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 15 jumbo marshmallows, halved
  • Graham cracker squares

Place an 8 inch skillet on the center rack and preheat the oven to 450 with the skillet inside.  Once oven is preheated, use a pot holder to remove hot skillet from the oven. Put the butter in the skillet and use a pot holder to hold the handle and swirl the skillet so that the melted butter coats the bottom and sides. Layer the chocolate chips in an even layer into the bottom of the skillet. Arrange marshmallow halves over the surface of the chocolate chips, covering the chocolate completely. Bake the skillet for 5 to 7 minutes or until marshmallows are nice and toasty. Use an oven mitt to remove the skillet from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

Now devour!

What a sweet rainy day treat!

I just recently went out for sushi with the chelseacrockett.com team, and let me tell you, it was delicious! When I found this recipe for s’mores “sushi” I could not resist sharing it with you guys!

Ingredient1407558084-1

  • 10 oz mini marshmallows
  • ¼ cup butter, plus more for greasing the pan
  • 5 cup Rice Krispies cereal
  • ¾ cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 7 oz jar marshmallow creme
  • 6 bars of Hershey’s chocolate

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Line a 10×15 jellyroll pan with waxed paper. Butter the waxed paper and set aside. Combine the marshmallows and one fourth cup of butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover and heat on high for 30 seconds, stir. Repeat until completely blended. Stir in Rice Krispies cereal and graham cracker crumbs. Press mixture into the buttered pan. Spread marshmallow creme on top using a rubber scraper. Lay the Hershey’s bars on top of the marshmallow creme. Place in oven for two minutes. Use a spatula to spread the softened chocolate. Let it cool for 10 minutes, and then roll it up like a roll of sushi (or like a cinnamon roll), starting at the long side and peeling the wax paper as you go. Pinch the seams together and place it seam side down, refrigerating for about 30 minutes. Slice it like suchi, and serve!

What a sweet, fun summer treat!

I have posted a bunch of s’mores recipes lately…but can you blame me? They are just so good! There are so many awesome variations! This one might be my fav because it is the least messy of the recipes! Here is how to make your very own s’mores in a bag.

Ingredients:

  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Bagged cookies, like Teddy Grahams or animal crackersfun-camping-idea-and-snack

Pick out your preferred cookies. Then pour the chocolate chips in the bag and roast your marshmallow. I am a “slightly burned” kinda gal. After you have roasted the marshmallow to perfection, smush the marshmallow into the bag and mix it all up with the cookies and chocolate! I eat my portable s’mores with a fork, it is the easiest/cleanest way to enjoy them!

These are the perfect bonfire/summer night snack!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mixcps2-900x675

Add half of the cake batter to the crock pot and then add 1 cup of marshmallows and 1 cup of chocolate chips. Layer the graham crackers on the top. Break those bad boys up to make them into a nice layer. Save one cracker for later. Pour the rest of the batter on top of the graham layer. Cook this mixture on low for 1 ½- 2 hours. If it starts to burn around the edges, add some crackers to prevent burning. Add the rest of the marshmallows and chocolate chips and then top it off with the crumbles of the remaining graham cracker. Cook it for another 30 minutes and then serve it with ice cream!…Or just eat it by itself!

It’s my favorite time of the year!  Falling leaves, cooler temperatures, and starlit nights by the campfire are something we all look forward to.  There’s nothing better on a chilly night than making s’mores by the fire.  While melting marshmallows on a stick and putting them on a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers is divine…..there are other ways to enjoy s’mores too!

Chelsea Crockett - Smores BarIf a campfire isn’t available, another way to satisfy that s’more taste is with s’more bars like the ones on the left! They are gooey and rich and can be made ahead of an event.  You can google s’more bar recipes and find all different kinds.  If you keep them in an airtight container, they stay moist and last for days.

A healthier twist on s’mores is s’more candied apples.  Some people like that graham cracker taste but want to add some nutrition to their bite. In that case, s’more candy apples are the answer.  You can look up the exact recipe but basically it’s a Granny Smith apple on a stick dipped in marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker crumbles!  YUM!

Well, I hope that solves your sweet tooth for s’mores!  Let me know your favorite!

One of my favorite things to do in the spring is to have sleepovers with my best girlfriends.  Movies, painting nails, and sweet treats are all part of the fun, but have you ever wanted to switch up the typical sleepover?  On cool summer nights, having a campout in your backyard is so much fun!  I like to call it “glamping” (glamorous camping), because you get to campout, but still have the house with electricity and a bathroom!  I’ll give you all the tricks and tips to your perfect backyard campout.

Chelsea Crockett- backyard campout

First, find someone with a tent.  I typically have to ask my dad to set it up for me, but if you want to take on the challenge, go for it!  Invite all your friends over and make sure they bring their sleeping bags, pillows, and a flashlight.  Remember, you won’t have power!  Set up a radio or bring out your iHome to listen to fun music throughout the night.  Make up crazy dances or sing along under the stars.  If it gets hot, use an extension cord to bring a fan into the tent.  That should cool it down!  If possible, set up a fire!  It’s perfect for roasting s’mores, telling stories around the campfire, and enjoying the beautiful night.

Having a backyard campout with your friends is a great bonding experience.  Just enjoy your surroundings and most of all your friends.  If you don’t have a tent check these out!   http://tiny.cc/Tent

Have fun,

Chelsea

                           Hello Insiders!
With snow in the forecast, we all anxiously await a snow day from school.  So when the first snow falls, grab some warm clothes, hot chocolate, and good friends to head outside with.  An unexpected snow day can be the perfect way to explore your creativity!Chelsea Crockett - Snowball Fight
Anyone can make the average snowman but can you think outside of the box?  How about a snow animal or a snow fort?
Be sure to grab a sled and find the biggest hill in the neighborhood!  Even the lid of a trash can makes a great sled.  Everybody’s always up for a snowball fight, right?  It’s fun to build forts and pick teams.  Girls against boys is always the best!Wink
Last but not least, if we get some snow, it’s always cozy to build a fire and roast s’mores to end the day.  Nothing says YUM like a s’more!  Let’s hope for some snow days real soon. Maybe even have a white Christmas!
