My guess is that you have heard about Instagram’s new update. When I first heard about it, I was a little confused and a little perturbed. If you aren’t familiar with what’s up with Insta, here is the lowdown.
So, Instagram is altering its algorithm. It will reportedly be changing the way that users see posts from other people. It will prioritize some people’s posts over others, and in order to have your posts prioritized, people have to “turn on your notifications.” The thing is, this change isn’t happening for everyone just yet, so it has people pretty confused. The feature is actually still in its testing phase and is only out to a select number of Insta users at the moment. So, what will happen when the change happens to your account? Your feed will order the posts that it thinks you care about the most first, meaning it will show you the pictures from people whose photos you like and comment on the most. This change has pros and cons. The big “pro” is that you will get to see the people you want to see the most front and center in your feed! Buuuut a con is that you could miss posts from people whom you do not interact with that often but still want to keep tabs on or newer friends. Instagram says that it is working on getting this update right by doing testing, so hopefully by the time it reaches us it is in tip-top shape!
How do you feel about this new update? I am still trying to figure out how I feel myself.
