We’re all at that crucial age of figuring out who we want to be, despite the pressure coming from friends, society, and many other factors that try to shape us into who they want us to be instead.  With all of the standards and expectations put on girls throughout social media, magazines, movies, etc., they make it hard to love the skin we’re in… But that’s exactly what we need to learn to do!  Here are 5 steps that will make you start loving yourself fully and wholeheartedly! Chelsea Crockett - Love Yourself Quote

  1. Avoid perfection.  Putting impossible standards on yourself will never make you happy!  You’ll be let down every time.  Don’t expect to be someone you can’t and shouldn’t be!
  2. Stay off of social media.  I don’t mean to delete all of your accounts and shut yourself out of them forever.  What I mean by this is to not log on just to compare yourself to every girl you see.  If you find yourself doing this, just log off and find something fun and positive to do.
  3. Look in the mirror and point out three things you love about yourself every day.  Positive reassurance is totally underrated.  It really works!  Give yourself three compliments each morning to continue finding things you love about yourself.
  4. Get the right mentality.  Having a negative attitude never helps in any situation.  Work on being happy and positive when it comes to your body.
  5. Acknowledge your achievements and treat yourself.  Sometimes we get down on ourselves for thinking that we’ve failed and just want to give up.  Acknowledge your success and focus on that!  Treat yourself so you feel rewarded and optimistic!

As young women, we try our hardest to be strong, brave, and independent. We want to be our own person that’s able to stand up for what we believe in. Yet this seems almost impossible to do in a society full of standards and expectations. I know how hard it can be, so I put together 10 steps on how to become more strong-minded.

  1. Keep control. Having control over yourself in situations allows you to respond confidently, without worrying or overthinking.  
  2. Focus on the positives. Ever since I started keeping a positive mindset, I’m able to control my thoughts and attitude. It makes a bigger difference than you think!Chelsea Crockett - Strong Minded Quote
  3. Think ahead. If you focus on what’s in front of you, then you won’t have time to worry about the little things.
  4. Don’t stress about the past. Worrying about what’s said and done is pointless. Make progress by living in the now!
  5. Accept other’s success. Comparing yourself to others will never satisfy you. Be happy for them and rid yourself of jealousy.
  6. Embrace change. Change will happen throughout your life. Knowing how to accept it with an open mind is comforting!
  7. Build confidence. Confidence is key! Feeling strength and self-assurance will change your whole view on things.
  8. Set goals and reward yourself. Achieving goals you set your mind to is one of the best feelings ever. See if you can and reward yourself!
  9. Keep a good perspective. This goes hand in hand with focusing on the positives. Be content and appreciative of your situation.
  10. Accept your flaws and weaknesses. This step is one of the most important. God made you without mistakes. Each flaw and weakness has a reason behind it!

Write these steps in your planner, in your phone, on your wall… anywhere! Learn to be strong in your decisions and throughout your life!

No, the title of this article does not mean to go put your makeup in the oven. It’s a trending way to increase the wear of your makeup and make your skin look flawless! Of course, you’ll have to carry out a few steps to complete the look.

First, you need to find a concealer and foundation that match your skin type and color. Make sure the foundation is a loose powder, this is a necessity! Start how you wouldChelsea Crockett - Loose Powder start any other makeup look by applying and blending your concealer. Next apply your loose powder by layering it on your cheeks, forehead, or wherever else you please. Then, let it sit for about 5 minutes. Some websites say 1-3, others say 5-10. I recommend a happy medium! After waiting, dust off the remaining powder. This leaves you with a thin layer of nicely set powder.

You might be worried that it looks caked on or over the top. Try it out for yourself! As long as you don’t do this to your whole face, you should be just fine! If you want to take it a step further, finish with a setting spray. It’s that simple! Try it out for yourself :).

I’m sure you’ve heard of the newest fitness trend called the Fitbit!  It’s a flexible wristband that you can wear when you are working out.  It tracks your all day activity like how many steps you take, the distance you’ve traveled, the floors you’ve climbed and the calories you’ve burned. 

It’s fun to set daily goals.  It will encourage you to walk the extra mile and make good choices throughout the day.  Your Fitbit will also measure your sleep quality at night.  It comes with a silent alarm that will vibrate on your wrist so it won’t wake your roommate! Chelsea Crockett - Fitbit

Another bonus to the Fitbit is that it syncs to your computer or iPhone.  It will show your progress in charts or graphs so you can keep track of your goals.  My friends and I have a little competition some days to see who walked the most steps. It really encourages me to take the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator!  Why not try the Fitbit and have fun with your workout!

A healthy and happy lifestyle is one of the most important things to maintain in life. Life is short, so why wouldn’t you want to live the best life you can each and every day? There are five simple steps that are easy to incorporate into your daily lives that put you on a path to a healthier lifestyle!

  1. Exercise. Get out and exercise for at least an hour a day! It can be as simple as riding your bike or playing basketball with your friends. You know what they say, when you look good, you feel good!Chelsea Crockett - Healthy Living
  2. Sleep. Sleep is so, so important! Getting 7-8 hours every night will make such a big difference! When I get a good night of sleep, it’s a lot easier for me to pay attention in school. The day actually goes by a little faster when I’m not constantly trying to keep my eyes open!
  3. Eat healthy. Eating a healthy diet will not only satisfy you and your body, but make you feel good :)! If you’re not a fan of fruits and vegetables, there are several substitutes that can give you the vitamins and nutrients you need. Just follow the food pyramid on the right for a start to a yummy and healthy diet!
  4. Think positive. Having a good attitude improves ANY situation you’re in. Even going to school or work can turn from bad to good if you start your day in the right mindset.
  5. Love more. Encourage others and build them up. I view loving others as a domino effect, once someone sees you being a positive influence in someone’s life, they want to do the same! It’s as simple as that!
