If you’re like me, you probably have more beauty tools in your room than you can count.  I had no idea that there are certain tools that needed to be replaced after so many days or weeks.  I wanted to tell you guys which beauty tools should be swapped out to avoid bacteria buildup to get all that you can out of your tool!

  • Eyelash curlers.  Believe it or not, but eyelash curlers collect a lot of bacteria whether it be from your eyes or makeup buildup.  This can lead to eye infections!  I suggest using a cleanser and hot water to clear off the buildup.Chelsea Crockett - Beauty Tools
  • Loofahs.  With loofahs constantly being exposed to water and left soaking to dry, bacteria likes to grow in the moist environment!  Make sure you wring out all the excess water from it after your shower.  I recommend getting a new one every month or so as well!
  • Beauty Blenders.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… clean your foundation tools!  Whether you use your blender for foundation, concealer, etc., make sure you clean it thoroughly with a cleanser and warm water every week or so.  This way your beauty blender’s quality will last much longer.
  • Tanning mitt.  If you use a self-tanner, then your mitt is probably being used all the time.  My only advice is to rinse your mitt after each use to avoid streaky application!

Are there any tools that are missing from the list?  Let me know which tools you swap out in the comments below!

How to Get Tan for Summer: The Safe Way

Being tan is one of my favorite things about summer. Although my summer is filled with lots of travelling and events, I still find time to soak up some rays. Too many teenage girls get caught up in the idea of being tan and take desperate measures to do so. Here’s how you can get tan this summer… the safe way!

Before summer, I like to have a little color, especially for prom, graduation, etc. Instead of going tanning, which can be really bad for your skin, I sometimes use a bronzing mousse from Vita Liberata.Chelsea Crockett - Vita Liberata Tanning Mousse My favorite of their products is the 2-3 Week Tan Mousse in Medium. After applying, your skin will develop a darker tan within 4-8 hours. No harm done! It gives your skin a much more natural tan than other tanning lotions I’ve used in the past. This product provides you with a mitt to apply the mousse without any streaks or splotches.

No matter how many times your skin sees the sun throughout the day, it is crucial to wear sunscreen. More and more everyday skin products, such as some liquid foundations and BB creams, have included a built in SPF which prevents the sun’s rays from harming your skin. I’ve read so many different articles and have watched several videos that say wearing sunscreen everyday will do your skin wonders. You might as well give it a try!

Make your skin happy this summer by being smart when you’re having fun in the sun!

Surprisingly enough, some of your daily beauty habits aren’t making you more beautiful.  They could actually be dangerous!  Too many beauty products are abused, causing them to do harm instead of actually help.  Look below to see if you’re doing any of these dangerous beauty habits! Chelsea Crockett- over-exfoliating

  • Every girl wants bronzed, summer skin, but hitting the tanning bed can be detrimental to the health of your skin. Every time you tan you are killing healthy skin cells and increasing your chance of getting skin cancer. No tan is worth that!
  • Exfoliating is a great way to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells, but over-exfoliating or using a tough exfoliator can tear the skin and cause it to become more sensitive to products in the future.
  • Picking at zits is a deadly act. Once popped, peeling away at the dead skin will only cause the skin to take longer to heal or worse, scarring. Instead, leave it alone. It may look ugly, but the blemish will go away in no time.
  • Touching your face seems like a harmless task, but it’s actually a crime to your skin. Every time your hand touches your skin, you’re transferring whatever dirt or oil your hands have accumulated that day onto your face…clogging your pores.
  • If you use a lot of hair products, rinsing it out properly when you shower is important. Just washing it and quickly rinsing it is alright, but eventually the excess product will build up. Rinse your hair longer than you think you should.
  • Never sleep with your makeup on! When you get your beauty rest, your pores will clog leaving you an unpleasant surprise in the morning.

Taking care of your skin and body properly is so important for a healthy complexion!  Keep these in mind and you’re on your way to the best skin and hair you’ve ever had.

Chelsea

Tanning has become an obsession between teens everywhere!  Being pale is “totally outdated” making the use of tanning beds higher than it used to be.  Unfortunately, this excessive exposure to UVA and UVB lights are causing a rise in skin cancer.  Although neither form of tanning is particularly safe, let’s compare the difference between tanning in a tanning bed and tanning outdoors in natural sunlight. Chelsea Crockett- natural sunlight tanning

So, which is worse for you: tanning beds or natural sunlight?  If you answered tanning beds, you’re correct!  Tanning in a tanning bed has become a daily routine for most teens.  With the lights so close to your body, you are exposing yourself to a risk of skin cancer two times greater than natural sunlight, according to the British Journal of Dermatology.  You could spend a couple hours in the mid-day sun and be better off than spending 15 minutes in a tanning bed.

This summer, try to spend more time outdoors and less time in a tanning bed.  Years down the road, your body will thank you for it.  Be careful Insiders!

Love,

Chelsea

Fake a Summer Tan Even in the Winter!

Hi Girls,             Fall and winter are great times of the year!  Unfortunately, it’s that time when your summer tan fades.  So what should you do to keep that summer…

Hi Girls,

Fall and winter are great times of the year!  Unfortunately, it’s that time when your summer tan fades.  So what should you do to keep that summer glow all winter long?  Check out a few of these beauty tips to get a nice tan without hitting the tanning bed!

In the winter, most of your body is covered up with clothing.  If you’re just looking for a glowing face and not planning on sporting a bathing suit any time soon, then go for a powered bronzer!  Apply your foundation as you normally would and begin highlighting your cheek bones with a bronzer suitable for your skin tone.  Since your skin is lighter in the winter, don’t use your summer bronzer, it’ll be too over powering.  Try a lighter bronzer and after highlighter your cheek bones, apply a small amount to the rest of your face.  To top off your look, use a light pink blush to get that summer shine.Chelsea Crockett- bronzer blush duo

If you want that all around summer glow, go for a tanning lotion!  Try Jergans Natural Glow for a streak free summer tan!  After showering, rub it in like normal lotion and let it dry for about 10 minutes.  You won’t see results right away, so do this every day for about a week!  Don’t go to a tanning bed to get that beautiful summer glow.  Take the healthy route and get the tan you’ve always wanted!

Love you all!
