I always see posts on Twitter and Instagram about “goals.” I see “relationship goals” or “friendship goals” or I’ve even seen “lunch goals.” Well, these things are all fine and dandy, but to me, I’d rather have “life goals,” or things I want to do or accomplish in my life. Here is a list of goals that should make everyone’s list of goals.

  1. Get more sleep. (Can I get an amen?)f7f065ec6e42618dff61c645c541b756
  2. Read more
  3. Exercise more
  4. Drink more water
  5. Be more organized
  6. Have more patience
  7. Explore as much as possible
  8. Relax more
  9. Do more for others
  10. Trust that God has a reason for everything
  11. Think before you speak
  12. Pray more
  13. Be a good influence on others

Everyone should make a list of things that they strive for in life and things that they want to achieve or do more of. This makes the goals more attainable, and it gives you motivation to reach them! Having goals is a way to better yourself and to even be a motivation to those around you.

Get after your goals!

How To Be More Confident

I’ve got a question for you. Why is it so easy for us to point out all of the bad things about ourselves, but so hard to pick out things that we love? I know that sometimes I get wrapped up in my downfalls, but when I do I remind myself of everything I have going for me! We are too blessed to be stressed, and too beautiful (inside AND out) to be brought down! Here are some ways to give your confidence a comeback.FullSizeRender (9)

  1. A ton! Not feeling confident? Trick your mind into thinking you are just by smiling! It’s a quicker picker upper.
  2. Sit up straight. Believe it or not, when you have great posture you gain confidence!
  3. Kick negativity to the curb! If you are surrounded with people that make you feel bad about yourself or bring you down, that can cause you to harbor negative thoughts as well.
  4. Pray about it. When I am feeling down I pray that God will give me confidence and help me shine for Him. Works every time!

As Christina Agulara would say, “You are beautiful, in every single way” and you ARE! Never forget it.

Ending a chapter in your life and opening a new one can seem on the verge of impossible. With summer here, some of you will soon be packing up and moving out to college. Some of you may’ve just gotten out of a relationship. Some of you are moving to a new school this upcoming school year. It can be scary, I know first-hand… and I’m here to help!

One of the best tips I’ve learned is to accept the past and anticipate the future. You can’t move forward when you’re dwelling on the past. Whether it’s bad grades, innocent mistakes, etc., you have to accept that what’s done is done. Work on making yourself a better person for what’s to come!Chelsea Crockett - Moving Forward

I’ve learned the easiest way to take on a new situation is through prayer, reading the Bible, and surrounding yourself with good company. One of my favorite verses, Hebrews 11:1, says “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Without faith, nothing can be accomplished. Hope that whatever happens or whatever’s coming is happening for a reason, because it is!

I can’t wait to see what the next chapter in my life will be like, hopefully you feel the same way!

Now that we are in the warm weather season, one thing is clear: we have to start shaving our legs again. It is so nice to take a few days (okay weeks) off of shaving during the winter months. I am always looking for ways to cut down my shaving time/frequency, and here are the tricks that have served me well!

  1. Go against the grain: A easy trick to shave less is to shave against the grain of your hair. This ensures that you are getting the closest shave possible and saves you time by not having to go over the same spot twice!Shaving Tips For Woman(1)
  2. Exfoliate: To get a close shave every time you should exfoliate your skin often. This gets rid of the dead skin and also exposes any hairs that you may have missed.
  3. Condition: Use conditioner instead of shaving cream! Not only will it save you money, it also keeps your skin soft and healthy!
  4. Cut the carbs: The foods you eat can actually promote access hair growth! Carbs do this. Cut back on the carbs to keep you hair from growing so you can shave less often.

Now you can have silky smooth legs all summer long!

Ladies, can you think of one male style trend that drives you nuts? I am not a big fan of guys wearing high Nike socks with sandals. Gross. Guys look at some of our style choices in the same way, and their opinions are actually pretty amusing! Now, you should not let a guy’s opinion dictate the way you feel about yourself or your style choices, this list is just purely for fun and for you to get a little look into the male brain!

  1. Bangs: Some guys comment that bangs make them think of “mom hair.” I personally love bangs! But, some guys say FB3A9990-X2they are no bueno. Some guys even say bangs make girls look intimidating!
  2. Too-tight hair: When you pull your hair back too tight, like in a tight ponytail or bun, guys say it makes them feel like the girl is a major tomboy. But hey, if that is your thing, keep rockin it!
  3. Fragrance to the max: Don’t get me wrong, smelling great is always a must! But, If your boyfriend is being choked by your fragrance, you might need to tone it down a smidge.
  4. Too much tanner: Guys prefer you NOT to be tanned the color of Snooki.
  5. Helmet head: Too much hairspray means he cannot run his hands through your hair like Jack and Rose in the Titanic, and he is just NOT okay with that. 😉

Like I said earlier, you do you, who cares what guys think?! These were merely observations to give you a little giggle.

Do you have someone you look up to and strive to be like? I think we all do. We all have someone who is a great example of what we should strive to be like. A lot of times, you are that person for someone else! We all become someone’s role model at some point, so it is good to know how to act in those situations. Here is how to be a great role model:tumblr_mnoaycJz4H1qeo7pbo1_500

  1. Have a positive attitude: Positive people are way more fun to be around, and their happiness is infectious! By being positive, you are motivating others around you to do the same. Nobody looks up to a Debbie downer!
  2. Be humble: Don’t be boastful or prideful. A humble person is one who is respected!
  3. Have integrity: Be honest about everything and, well, have integrity!
  4. Practice what you preach: When someone says something and then does something totally different, it is hard to trust them.
  5. Be an inspiration: If people see you overcoming obstacles in your life or they see what an amazing example you set for others, they will be inspired by your success!

Like I said earlier, you never know who will look up to you or who you are inspiring, so it is always good to be mindful of these attributes and strive to fulfill them every day!

I know you guys are amazing role models! I have faith in you.

XOXO, Chels

Be More Productive…But How?!

We live in a world where we have a lot of expectations on our shoulders at a young age. We need to go to school from early in the morning to the afternoon, make sure we are getting enough exercise, maintain our social life, get good grades, AND get AT LEAST 8 hours of sleep every night. It can be overwhelming, and it will only get done if we stay on task and have great time management. Here are some tips on how to be more productive with the time you are given!no-cell-phone-sign

  1. Make routines: I have a set time during the day when I film my videos and edit them, I have time when I work out, and then I have my time for homework. I stick to my daily routine because it ensures that I get everything done that I HAVE to get done on a daily basis!
  2. Get up earlier: I know, this was literally painful just to read it, but seriously, do it. As long as you are able to get enough sleep, getting up earlier makes your day that much longer! The mornings are quieter and there are less distractions so you will get more done. I like to workout in the mornings sometimes or read my Bible.
  3. To-do lists…Make ‘em!: I would be lost without my list. My to-do list tells me all of the things I need to do that day and makes sure I don’t forget to do any of them. Plus, crossing things off the list gives me a huge sense of accomplishment!
  4. Your phone…Turn that thing off!: I cannot get anything done if my phone is anywhere near my workspace. I get texts, twitter notifications, email alerts, all kinds of things drawing my attention away from the task at hand! Also, if you know you need to get something done, tell yourself you will not get on social media for, lets say, an hour. That way you are not tempted to pick up your phone and check it every five seconds! Your Twitter followers will live without you for an hour, I promise. J
  5. Learn to say “no”: If your friends ask you to go get Froyo with them and you know you have a huge test the next day and you need to study, (or in my case you have a YouTube video you need to finish editing), then learn to say no to them! They will understand because they have been in that situation, too.

I hope these tips help you to be the most productive Insider on the block!

We have all had those days where we wake up and our hair looks like something out of a horror movie. Bad hair days are the worst because we are helpless in the fight against our hair, it has a mind of its own! Here is a handy dandy list of ways that you can beat your next bad hair day and come out on top-great hair intact!

  1. Is your hair dull or brassy? Get natural shine by taking fish oil supplements! Along with a ton of other health benefits, fish oil works from the inside out, giving you naturally glossy strands.resized_success-kid-meme-generator-have-a-bad-hair-day-crush-doesn-t-come-to-school-979a50
  2. Running late or have horribly untamable hair? Braids are always a safe bet. Braided hairstyles are your bff on days when you just don’t want to mess with your hair.
  3. To help prevent bad hair days from bearing their ugly face, steer clear of hair products that have silicones or sulfates in them. Those chemicals dry out your hair and disrupt it’s natural wave/curl pattern. This means mega frizz! Also, maintaining a healthy diet can really benefit the health of your hair. Avoid eating an excess of salt, sugar, caffeine and carbonated beverages!
  4. Topknots are also a lifesaver. These high buns keep your hair out of your face and disguise the mess it really is!
  5. Use them! Blair Waldorf set a great example for us. Headbands add a little extra oomf to hair if it needs a little something to spice it up and it keeps your strands out of your face.
  6. Are you battling static electricity and flyaways? Rub a dryer sheet over your hair!
  7. When straightening your hair, pull the hair up towards the ceiling when running it through the straightener to add volume to the ‘do!

Bad hair days be gone!

XOXO,

If you are in college then you know that a coffee pot does way more than just make coffee. That thing has a whole bunch of unexpected uses. When there is no oven around, the coffee maker is the next best alternative. If you are ever in a pinch and all you have is a coffee maker, then here are a few unexpected things you can make with it!

  1. Hot dogs: You can boil hot dogs in your coffee maker! Just add six to 8 cups of water to the coffee pot and cook two hot dogs for a half an hour.enhanced-buzz-6127-1370282000-1
  2. Keurig creations: If you have a Keurig coffee maker then you are in luck! A few easy meals you can whip up are Ramen noodles and oatmeal.
  3. Hard boiled egg: I love hard boiled eggs in my salads and just as an afternoon snack, so it is great to know I can whip up a few in my good ‘ole coffee maker! 😉
  4. Grilled cheese: Use the burner just like a stove! You can make things like grilled cheese, scrambled eggs, all sorts of yummy stuff!
  5. Chocolate fondue: Chocolate fondue? In a coffee maker?! Who knew!

So, like I said, if you are ever in a pinch and all you have is a coffee maker, it is possible to whip up your own little meal! College here I come!

Have you ever made a “Future Husband” list? A list of all of the qualities and quirks you want your future husband to have? I know I have. During a church retreat, one of our small group activities was to make a list of qualities you hope your future spouse to have. They said to keep these items on the list in mind when you are dating someone to see if they are future husband material! Here is a guide to making your very own “future husband list”.

  1. Keep your values in mind: The very first item on my list is “has to be a Jesus lover” because that is something I am absolutely positive my future husband will have to be. A few other good ones are “respects my morals”, “respects me and my family”, “is honest”, qualities like that.tumblr_mat9ehtV5R1r9k0q3o1_500_large
  2. Think of common interests: Do you like to travel? Then you want to marry someone who does too, or your family vacations will be miserable. Do you like to lead an active lifestyle? Then you might want to add “values fitness and a healthy lifestyle” to your list.
  3. Add in a few fun ones: I remember when I made a list when I was in middle school “blonde hair and blue eyes” was an item on my list! Have fun with some of the items! For instance, “has to be a pro snowboarder” miiiiight be on my list ;).

Have fun making your list, but you also need to take it seriously. Like I said, you can use your list as a test to see if the dude you are dating is hubby material. Also, when you are married some day it will be fun to look back at what qualities you wanted your future husband to have when you were a teenager and to see how many of those qualities your hubby has!

Happy listing!

Verses to Pray for your Relationship

When you are dating someone, it is important for Christ to be the center of that relationship. It doesn’t matter if you are in middle school, high school, college or beyond, having a Christ-centered relationship is super important. Here are a few verses to pray to strengthen your relationship, protect it, and to give you hope for the future.

1 Corinthians 12: 4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1-Corinthians-13-4-8

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, baring with one another in love.

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

1 John 3:18 Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth. (AKA, actions speak louder than words!)

James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry.

Proverbs 14:29 The one who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the one who has a quick temper exalts folly.

1 Corinthians 13:5 [Love] keeps no record of wrongs.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as your are doing.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I hope that these verses help encourage and strengthen your relationship! Like I said earlier, keeping Christ the center of your relationship is crucial if you want the relationship to succeed!

To some girls the thought of hanging out with a group of boys leaves them in a cold sweat. Boys? As friends? No way. That’s foreign territory. To others, having a group of guy friends is second nature and even preferable to a group of girlfriends. There are some pros and cons to being the girl that is considered “one of the guys” and we are about to explore them together.e6ac499e098b5b52d6da68acbfd284ef

Pro: No Drama. Bros tend to be drama free. Boys think of drama as a disease, they do everything to avoid it. Where there is no drama, there is a good time to be had.

Con: You are literally seen as a “bro”. Once you are considered a “guys girl”, the dudes you hang out with won’t see you as a female. Sort of. If you are looking for a relationship with one of your dude friends, you may want to reconsider your status as a “bro”. Beware of the friend zone!

Pro: Boys can be strong and intimidating. If you need someone to walk you to your car, pretend to be your boyfriend so the creeper in math class will stop bugging you, or pump your gas when it is freezing outside, it is always handy to have a bro.

Con: You might have to listen to bro talk. When hanging out with a bunch of dudes, you might have to listen to some shenanigans that only bros understand. A pro to this one is that their bro talk can sometimes be quite amusing.

Pro: Get more perspective. Once you get comfortable with a group of dudes, you can start asking them about their perspective on things. Need guy advice? Who better to ask than a guy himself?

Some girls are intimidated by guys, and that is totally understandable! They are a totally foreign species. All you have to do is be confident and be yourself around them, I promise they don’t bite.

How to Walk in Heels

IMG_6340This time of year around Thanksgiving and Christmas means lots of parties and get-togethers, which means dressing up! To some girls, the words “high heels” are curse words. Yes, heels can be uncomfortable and a little hard to commandeer at times, but there really IS an art to walking in heels.

  1. Start small: You wouldn’t run a marathon without training, would you? I certainly wouldn’t. That is why if you rarely wear heals, don’t reach for the 5 inch stilettos come formal. Start off with a 2 inch heel, just to get familiar with the feeling. If you slowly work your way up you will be rockin those 5 inch heels in no time at all.
  2. If the shoe fits…: Size DOES matter. You have got to make sure your heels fit right or you are in for a world of hurt. If the shoes are too big you will be walking around awkwardly all night and will probably feel like a clown with huge shoes. If the shoes are too small your feet will feel cramped and you will be feeling the burn. Your foot size changes over the years, so get your feet sized before stepping out in those stilettos.
  3. Take a breather: Take a sit. There is no shame in having a little break from time to time. When you rest frequently it keeps you walking more comfortably.
  4. Pump the breaks: Wearing heels naturally makes your strides shorter, so you have to take more steps than usual. Slow your roll! The faster you try and walk in heels the funnier you look.
  5. Move to a beat: When you are walking in flats do you think about the steps you are taking? Nope. The same goes for walking in heels, don’t over think it! Try and walk to a beat when you are wearing heels. It will help you even your strides and make your walking look effortless.

We hope that these tips will help you walk like Beyonce wherever your heels may take you!

Build Up Your Friendship

Knowing you have friends that you can trust and will be by your side no matter what is one of the best things in the world.  I know I’ve had trouble with finding a group of friends that I really fit in and get along with and can be myself around.  Luckily through church and school, I’ve found some amazing lifelong friends that build me up instead of tear me down.  Not only did it take them to step up to the plate, but also for me to be the best friend I could be to them.  Through that, I’ve learned some helpful tips to being a friend that’s there 24/7.Chelsea Crockett - Friends

  • Listen.  If your friends have had a bad day, take time to listen to them.  Whether it’s a break up with a boyfriend, a bad grade on a test, or a fight with their parents, let them know that they can talk to you about it.  Everyone needs somebody to lean on!
  • Build Them Up.  There’s nothing greater than having someone that believes in you and keeps you on a positive note.  A negative vibe is never good in a friendship.  That only leads to bickering and a not-so-great attitude.
  • Honesty and Trust.  We all know girls are known for gossiping and telling secrets.  Make sure your friend knows she can trust you with anything.  Be as loyal as you can and keep every promise you make.  Trust and honesty are the biggest things in any relationship.
  • Pray For Them.  Prayer is key.  God will never fail you or forsake you.  Telling a friend that you’re praying for them will lighten up their day.  Knowing God is with me and on my side always brings the biggest smile to my face.

5 Ways to Love your Body the Way it Is

How often do we wish we had someone else’s body? That we had smaller thighs or a narrower face? Or that we had a flatter tummy or tighter tush? Why don’t we just start to love our body the way it is? I think that if we start to do this, we will be so much more content and happier in our life. Here are a few reasons that you should love your body just the way it is:

  1. You can do so much more with your time other than worrying about your figure. You have things to do, people to see! love-your-bodyHave lunch with friends, read a new book, clean out your closet, anything but fret about your body!
  2. Food is yummy and meant to be devoured. No one wants to go through life never knowing the earth-shattering goodness of a donut. Indulge a little every once in a while!
  3. Being healthy is what matters. As long as you are eating well and exercising frequently, then you are good to go. Not seeing drastic drops on the scale? Try changing your workout routine up a bit and substitute out some not-so-great snacks out of your diet. You will see a difference!
  4. Looks aren’t everything. No matter what this society tries to tell you. Instead of going through life always wishing you looked like someone else, embrace YOU and YOUR beauty! There is no one like you!
  5. The perfect body doesn’t exist, so don’t worry about chasing it. Your body was made for YOU and YOU only! That means that it is perfect for you.

Stop trying to change your body all the time and take a second to actually appreciate the one God gave you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, don’t forget it!

Winston Churchill once said, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference.”   When you think about that…it is so true!   A negative attitude can be power draining.   A positive attitude, on the other hand, can help you enjoy a happy and fulfilling life.  It can put you in a good position with others.  No one wants to be around someone that is always complaining and fault finding.Chelsea Crockett - Power in Positivity

All of us need to change our attitude at times and all that takes is changing the way we think!  When the going gets tough…just realizing that this too shall pass and just saying  “Oh well”….can really help us to keep things in perspective.  Try not to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Most importantly, stay in touch with God.  He’s the One who sees the big picture and orchestrates everything around us.  Make your time with Him an important part of your daily schedule.  Do your best to communicate with Him through prayer, reading your Bible and worship.   Do your best to be a positive person.   The more positive you are….the more powerful you are!
