Cramps, which are an awful thing, hit us girls every so often! They make us want to stay in bed and roll up into a ball for the day. Although they’re often unavoidable, there are several things you can do to soothe cramps and make it easier to get things done! Cramps shouldn’t stop you from accomplishing things throughout your day!

  • First off, make sure you’re eating and drinking right. Drink lots and lots of water and avoid carbonated and caffeinated beverages. When it comes to foods, eat meals that are non-processed and high in calcium and vitamins. Chicken, fish, brown rice, and green vegetables are perfect examples of good foods.
  • Second, be determined to get your daily workout in especially during your time of the month. Exercising releases endorphins in your body that act as a natural painkiller. It may be the last thing you want to do when you’re having cramps, but I promise it helps!
  • Third, try the obvious medications or heating pads. Taking a couple Advil or Ibuprofen usually does the trick! If not, apply a heating pad to your stomach or lower back, wherever you’re cramping.Chelsea Crockett - Yoga
  • Lastly, there are a few methods I’ve found online that are a little outside of the box! After waking up, immediately do yoga or different stretches. Simply getting your body moving is a start to crushing cramps. Also, eating foods with cinnamon can help digest your food and may soothe cramps as well. It’s worth a try!

Next time you find yourself curled into a ball refusing to get out of bed, try these easy tips!

When it comes to being a girl, getting a breakout is our worst nightmare!  They’re very sneaky.  You can go to bed with flawless skin and wake up with a face covered in zits!  When, what, where, how?!?!  Although zits popping up unexplainably are something that’s hard to control, there is a method to stop all the madness.  Find out how you can stop a breakout…FAST!

If you often find yourself out in the sun with sweat beads dripping down your forehead, it’s best to always keep facial cleansing wipes on hand.  Wiping away sweat with these moist toilettes will keep sweat out of your pores and open them up instead.  This will allow your skin to breathe.

Being in a routine is key to healthy skin.  Find a beauty regime (including soap and moisturizer) that you find effective.  Be sure to wash your face every morning and Chelsea Crockett- honey face masknight, and never skip using moisturizer.  Many people believe that moisturizer causes skin to be oily, thus creating more zits.  This is exactly the opposite.  Instead, try switching to a water-based or gel moisturizer to keep oil under control and pimples at ease.  If you’re in a hurry to clear a breakout, go into your kitchen pantry and grab the honey jar!  Honey is known to reduce redness.  Put this on your face for 10 minutes like you would a normal face mask and wash it off with a damp towel.  Within a couple hours, redness from any visible pimples should be reduced!

Don’t freak out if you get a breakout!  There’s a way to cure it all!

I can’t believe how hot it is outside!  Which means summertime is in full force here in the U.S.  Our summers are pretty hot here in the Midwest.  I’m always looking for a refreshing healthy drink that helps to beautify my skin and body. I’ve recently started experimenting with ice water and different fruits.  You should give it a try!

You can buy strawberries, blueberries, cherries, oranges, limes, grapes…..the list is endless. First, wash your fruit. Then cut it up and squeeze the juice into the glass. Drop the fresh fruit into the glass and fill it with water and ice.  Have fun experimenting with which fruits taste best together for your taste buds! One of my favorites is cherries, strawberries, and oranges. It gives my water a sweet taste with healthy vitamins and no useless calories! Chelsea Crockett - Fruit Drink

Another option is to add cucumbers, watermelon, and mint herb. It’s a refreshing drink with a different twist. No matter what you add in your bottle, it’s guaranteed to be 100% healthy for you and your body. Another tip is to freeze your grapes before you add them in your water. When they’re frozen, they act as ice cubes to keep your drink ice cold! The possibilities really are endless. Give it a try, let me know your favorite concoction, and I’ll have to try it out for myself! Enjoy!

Cheers! – Chelsea

Eating healthy can be tough, especially when you’re not used to it!  The easiest way to ease yourself into a healthy diet is to make a few simple changes here and there.  By swapping out a few bad choices for good choices, you will start to notice yourself eating healthier and healthier day by day.

  1. Many people don’t realize how much sugar is in juice. Can you believe there are 24 grams of sugar in one cup of orange juice?! Instead of having your morning juice, have a fresh orange for breakfast. You will cut down on the sugar and gain some fiber!  Chelsea Crockett- sugar in juice
  2. Bagels are packed full of carbs and sugar and can be extremely filling. Try an English muffin instead of a bagel. This can even be used as bread for a sandwich!
  3. If you love chips and can’t give them up, then buy baked chips! Normal chips are fried in oil high in fat. Baked chips are more natural!
  4. Instead of ordering an appetizer at dinner, opt for a side salad instead. Try to order a clear dressing such as Italian, instead of a creamy dressing like Ranch.
  5. No more soda! Try sparkling water!
  6. If you love sweets, then try dark chocolate over milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants which contributes to multiple health benefits!

Eating healthy isn’t hard; it just takes some will power and a good grocery list!

Love you all!

I live in the Midwest, AKA the hottest, most humid place in the world!  It’s important that I stay cool during these crazy hot summer months.  It can become tricky once the thermometer hits 100 degrees, but nevertheless, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve!  Check out a few easy ways to cool off this summer!

  • Fruit is the perfect summer snack! Try freezing fruits like grapes and pineapple before taking them out with you in the sun. Each bite will be icy and help cool you off!Chelsea Crockett- frozen grapes
  • If you tend to get hot at night, try throwing your pillow case in the freezer for an hour or two before going to bed. This will help you beat the summer night sweats!
  • DRINK LOTS OF WATER!
  • If you’re laying out, but don’t have a pool, bring a spray bottle outside with you! Fill the bottle with water and ice and spray it on your body for a quick cool down when the sun gets too hot!
  • Grab an ice cream cone or sno-cone with a group of friends!
  • Large amounts of blood flow through the neck which can be heated up. Try throwing a cold towel around your neck for a quick cool down.
  • Instead of taking your car to the car wash, wash it yourself outside! There’s nothing wrong with running through the hose to keep yourself cooled off as well!

Be sure to stay hydrated this summer!

Spruce Up Your Water

Do you ever just get tired of the taste of water? Water is SO important to stay healthy, but sometimes the taste is just so boring that you just don’t drink enough. Now when it comes to a tall glass of Root Beer, I can down a glass of that in a jiffy! Here are some ways to mask the bland taste of water so you want to drink more!

The first way to mask the taste of water is to put lemon or lime in your water. Not only is this 0 calories, it is also super good for you! Drinking cold lemon water can help speed up your metabolism and also helps balance out your stomach acid! As for me, I like to put a squirt of lime juice in my ice water every once in a while, it is so refreshing and almost tropical!

The next way to spruce up your water, if you have a sweet tooth, is to add fresh fruit to it! Add strawberries, watermelon, whatever fruit you want, and let it sit in a pitcher of water in the fridge overnight.

Chelsea Crockett

In the morning, pour yourself a tall glass of sweet, fruity goodness! You can pour this refreshing concoction into a water bottle and take it with you wherever you go. It will help reduce your food cravings and keep you hydrated at the same time!

Hopefully these suggestions help you drink more H2O!

XOXO, Chels

Was one of your New Year’s resolutions to give up soda or sweet drinks? Or, do you get tired of dull old water? Well fear not, because I have the perfect savory drink to satisfy your sweet tooth. I introduce to you, naturally flavored water! This drink is great to take with you on the go or just to sip on at home! It basically has zero calories, but a boatload of flavor! Here are a few of my favorite recipes:

chelsea crockett fruit water

– Raspberry Lime Flavored Water: Cut 2 limes into 4 pieces each. Squeeze the juice from the limes into the jar, and then throw the squeezed limes into the jar. Add raspberries. Take a wooden spoon and press on the fruit to release some of the juices, but don’t totally pulverize the fruit. Fill the jar with ice and then fill water to the top. Stir the mixture, cover, and refrigerate.

– Watermelon Rosemary Flavored Water: Add a sprig of rosemary to the jar and press it with a wooden spoon to release some of its flavor. Cube a watermelon and add the cubes. Press gently on the cubes with a wooden spoon to release the juices. Fill your jar with ice cubes, add water to the top and stir. Cover the mixture and refrigerate.

Let your mixtures sit in the fridge for about 24 hours to let the flavors mix into the water. Then, enjoy! The mixture in the picture is blackberries and lime! Yummy!

Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet is part of healthy lifestyle that everyone strives to have.  Not only does it help your immune system, manage your weight, and increase your years of living, but it can actually treat acne as well.  Who would’ve known?!  Below are some foods to start incorporating in your diet if you struggle with acne like I do.  So eat up and enjoy clearer skin. 🙂 Chelsea Crockett- blueberries

  • Cucumbers:  This veggie is high in water content, which helps flush away toxins from your pores.  It also has a “cooling” effect, which can calm down inflammation caused by acne.
  • Oysters: If you’re a sea food lover, then start loading up on oysters.  They are full of zinc, which is crucial in killing acne.  It also absorbs vitamin A, which it vital for the health of our skin.
  • Yogurt and blueberries: This wonder food packs on the probiotics, which can actually prevent bad bacteria from forming.
  • Dark chocolate: Indulging in dark chocolate can actually cure your skin!  It’s full of antioxidants that can help shield your skin from harmful radiation.
  • Water: This is probably the most powerful acne fighter.  It keeps your body and skin hydrated, flushing out bad toxins that could get stuck in your pores.

Who would’ve thought that incorporating a few of these tasty foods in your diet each day could actually get rid of acne?!  I know I’d rather eat food than take medicine!  I hope this helped you on your journey to clearer skin!!

Good luck!

Summertime Skin Tips

Hey ladies!  Keeping your skin healthy is a daily struggle for girls year round, but during the summer this task seems even more difficult.  As we all know, there are lots of products to try out on our skin to reduce unwanted breakouts.  But what we don’t know is that there are many things we can do in our everyday routine to reduce our imperfections.

Chelsea Crockett - WaterSince it is summer, most of us will be spending the majority of our time outside in the high temperatures and hot sun.  Be sure to get very comfortable with H2O.  Water helps maintain the moisture in our skin and body.  Our body needs at least eight glasses of water to stay properly hydrated.  If you’re a soda or coffee drinker and need your daily boost of caffeine, you’ll need to triple the amount of water you drink!

Because summer is a time for fun in the sun activities, make sure you apply (and reapply) sunscreen!  Some of us think we only need to apply sunscreen once and we’re set for the day.  But studies show that to have full protection, we must apply every hour and a half to two hours.  If we don’t, the result will be a sunburn.  Sunburns damage the molecules in our skin and produce redness, pain, swelling, and sometimes peeling.  Another negative is that they make you feel hot and tired, and who wants that?Chelsea Crockett - Exfoliating Skin

Another quick tip is to exfoliate your skin.  Doing this gets rid of the dead skin on your face.  If you don’t get rid of it, it sets on your face making it look dry, dead, and dull.

Hope this helps you get glowing and healthy skin!
