Sweater weather is finally here which means cold winds and extra dry skin.  It’s hard to have that all-natural glow from summer when the temperatures are dropping… and dropping fast!  Here are a few different cold weather facial fixes that’ll transform your skin just in time for the holidays! 🙂

Chelsea Crockett - Neutrogena Skin CareMicrodermabrasion serums and treatments can make the transition smooth for brightening up your complexion! While microdermabrasion treatments are very expensive, you can try an at home device like Neutrogena’s Microdermabrasion System. It helps to boost surface cell turnover to purify and exfoliate your skin.  Neutrogena’s treatment is only $22.99 and it works wonders!  Try it out for yourself!

Another amazing facial treatment is Clinique’s Smart Treatment Oil.  It has a moisturizing anti-oxidant blend that will help your skin to repair itself after it takes a cold weather beating!  It’ll keep your natural oils locked in place. Its ingredients help you to hydrate, heal, and brighten your skin for a skin makeover.

Lastly, lip balms can give your lips some TLC from cracking and flaking. Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment is one of my favorites. It’s a chap stick that comes in all different colors from coral to wine. It’s made from vitamins C and E, beeswax, grape seed oil, jojoba, and real sugar! It also has an SPF 15 for added protection!

I hope this helps you out during the upcoming cold months! 🙂

When you think about your summer wardrobe, I’m sure it consists of lots of shorts, dresses, skirts, and swimsuits!  And what do all of these things have in common?  Your legs will show!  I always like to make sure my legs are in tip-top shape during the warm months, especially swimsuit season.  Here is a step-by-step guide to prepare your legs for the summer!

Step #1: Exfoliate.  Chelsea Crockett - ExfoliaterThis is the first step because it gets rid of any dead or damaged skin which prepares the perfect base for hydrating and shaving.  It evens out the skin and leaves behind what’s healthy and new instead of what’s dead and old.  And an even better tip?  Use an exfoliator with sea salt!

Step #2: Hydrate.  Since exfoliating consists of scrubbing and roughing up your skin, you’ll need to follow it with a little hydration!  Look for lotions that have nourishing and replenishing properties, not just those that smell good.  This should thoroughly moisturize any dry skin cells and prepare them for a smooth, even shave!

Step #3: Shave.  This step is pretty self-explanatory.  We all know that shaving makes our legs feel and look super smooth, which is perfect for shorts weather!

Step #4: Hydrate again/tan up.  Shaving, just like exfoliating, can sometimes dry out your skin.  I suggest hydrating again!  Then after you lotion-up, try a self-tanner that will leave your legs with a bronze glow!

I hope this guide helps you out this summer!

What to Wear to an Outdoor Concert

Summertime is the best time, filled with sun, friends, and lots of outdoor concerts to attend!  If you’ve ever been to an outdoor concert, then you know just how fun they can be.  There are several guidelines you should follow when picking out your outfit, considering how hot and stuffy outdoor concerts usually are!  Here’s a little help. 🙂

Chelsea Crockett - Concert OutfitUnlike music festivals, you won’t have a long day filled with tons of different concerts and events.  In this case, you don’t have to consider the heat and sun as much as you would at a day-long festival.  Usually outdoor amphitheater concerts are at night, so you shouldn’t be too hot and sweaty!  First, you’ll need to consider the main look you’re going for.  I suggest a cute romper or high waisted shorts and a nice shirt/tank.  The picture on the left is a perfect example!  A jean skirt, with an off-the-shoulder shirt and double braids is so cute!Chelsea Crockett - Concert Outfit

Although you won’t go as “all out” as you would for a full music festival, you can still accessorize just as much.  Depending on the weather, you might even have to bring along a jacket for when the sun goes down!  The picture on the right is a super cute look too if you want to be a little more casual.

What are you wearing next time you go to an outdoor concert?  Let me know below, I may copy your look for this summer! 🙂

Music festivals are the perfect opportunity to dress up in your most stylish festival gear and take lots of pics with your friends!  Although rocking a cute outfit and glamorous makeup is important, you’ll need a hairstyle to complete your look, as well.  Since festivals can often be hot and sweaty, here are 5 perfect hairstyles for the occasion!

  • Braided Top Buns. Chelsea Crockett - Braided Top Buns Like the picture on the right, a braided top buns look is super cute!  It’s a good hairstyle to keep hair out of your face which helps when you’re out in the sun!
  • Half-Up Loose Bun.  Contrary to top nots and tight high ponytails, loose, messy buns are totally in.  It’s okay if your hair is a little messy, it’s supposed to be with this look!
  • A Jeweled Headpiece.  When it comes to festivals, there’s pretty much no such thing as “going too all out.”  Buy a simple jeweled headpiece and try it out for yourself!
  • Center Part Double Braids.  Ohhh, the double braids trend… It’s still alive and thriving!  This is a perfect option for hot weather and dancing to your favorite bands!
  • Glitter Roots.  This is a new trend that is SO cute and fun!  You can look up all the different ways you can do this on Pinterest or YouTube.  You can add lots of glitter or only a little, whatever you want!

Which hairstyle are you going to try out?  Let me know below and what festival you’re attending, as well!  Maybe I’ll see you there :).

Winter is here and amongst us whether we like it or not.  Since we change our wardrobes and other things during the cold months, why don’t we make our rooms a little winterproof too?  Whether you’re living in a dorm, apartment, or still at home, here are some things to get your room nice and cozy for the winter!

  • Get a heated blanket.  Once you get a heated blanket, you’ll never go back!  They’re so nice to curl up in after coming in from the cold weather. (Maybe add it on to your Christmas wish list!)
  • Purchase a fuzzy rug!  Chelsea Crockett - RugPurchasing a warm, fuzzy rug will make your room cozier and winter ready.  It’ll even be an added decoration to make your room more stylish!
  • Buy a humidifier.  The air outside gets ten times drier during the winter which can mess with your skin and lungs.  Get a humidifier to help with any dry skin, stuffy noses, coughs, etc.!
  • Get a couple holiday scented candles!  A scented candle totally gets your room into the holiday mood.  Whether you like a Christmas cookie scent or a pine scented candle, you can find the perfect one to fill your room with.
  • Find the right temperature.  Nothing is worse than an overheated or freezing dorm room.  Find a temperature that’s perfect for you.

Have any more tips I should add to the list?  Let me know so I can try them out for myself!

When winter starts to roll in, there are certain things to do to prepare your closet for the cold weather ahead.  I always make sure my wardrobe is ready for the season, whether it be summer or winter.  Make sure you check these essentials off your list so you can be ready, too!

  • Change your closet from warm to cold.  My closet used to get extremely cluttered with all of my summer and winter clothes stuffed together.  Switch out all of your shorts and sandals for pants and booties!Chelsea Crockett - Winter Outift
  • Purchase a neutral, warm coat that will go with a majority of your outfits.  Finding a coat that is both stylish and keeps you warm is key for the cold weather!
  • Also, purchase a good pair of snow/rain boots.  Especially if you’re in college, walking to class in the snow without a good pair of boots will be awful!
  • Know how to layer.  When it comes to looking stylish in the winter, layering up with different shirts and jackets is a necessity.  I sometimes find it hard to find a cute outfit to wear and be warm at the same time.  Knowing how to layer like a pro is the perfect way to achieve this!
  • Purchase the perfect winter accessories that go with your style.  Accessories such as beanies, scarves, high socks, tights, etc. are the best way to spice up your outfit and make your outfit warmer at the same time!  You get the best of both worlds, right?

I hope you’re all prepared for an awesome winter ahead!

With winter approaching, it’ll be that time of year for winter dances, balls, formals, and much more! You’ll need all of your stylish dance attire including a dress, shoes, and not to forget accessories. There are certain trends in style right now that will surely make you best dressed at your event! 🙂

First comes first, your dress.  It’s good to stick to winter colors instead of bright, summer colors or patterns.  Neutral colors such as black, cream, and silver are all good choices! Chelsea Crockett - Black Dress If you like a little color, maroon, dark reds, greens, and blues are winter appropriate and super popular for the season.  As far as style, I love simple dresses that are timeless.  The picture on the left is a good example of this!  I also suggest finding a dress with sleeves.  Wearing a jacket with a sleeveless dress can sometimes be a pain.  Sleeves are a good substitute that permit to the weather!  Another cute style is off-the-shoulder.  You can still find sleeved off-the-shoulder dresses that are good for the cold weather.  As far as shoes go, heeled booties are both formal and weather appropriate!

Windsor is one of my favorite places to dress shop.  They have so many dresses like the ones I described above!  Other good places to look are Dillard’s, Nordstrom, and Forever 21.  I suggest shopping in stores instead of online to guarantee the perfect fit!

Which look will you be rocking for your winter dance?  Let me know in the comments below!

Fall festivities are some of the best of the entire year!  Apart from breaking out my boots and sweaters, I’m getting ready for all the bonfires and haunted houses I plan to attend!  There are so many different ways to spend your fall, so I put together a fun bucket list for you and your friends to get the most out of this season!

  • Go on a hike.  Fall is the best time of the year to go on a hike.  It’s the perfect weather to be outside.  You also get to see all of the leaves changing colors! (Plus, being active never hurts!)
  • Halloween time is the best time for a scary movie night with your BFFs! Chelsea Crockett - Halloween Treat  If you’re not into scary movies, you can always watch some classic Halloween movies such as Hocus Pocus or Halloween Town!
  • Bake, bake, bake!  There are so many festive treats to make like the picture on the right that’ll make your mouth water.
  • Carve a pumpkin (and eat the pumpkin seeds!).  Whenever my family carves pumpkins, we always salt and bake the seeds at the end.  Not only do you get a jack-o-lantern out of it but a yummy snack, too!
  • Go to a haunted house or trail.  You can’t have Halloween without a little scare!
  • Make s’mores.  If you have a bonfire, s’mores along with apple cider are a necessity!  Fun fact: even if you don’t have a bonfire, there are ways to make them using your microwave!
  • Have a fall photoshoot.  It’s so fun to dress up in sweaters and boots and take fun pictures outside with your friends!  At least it makes for a good Instagram post, right?

What else do you have on your fall bucket list? If you haven’t made one, I urge you to make the best of this season!

Fourth of July is the perfect day for boating, barbeques, and celebrating the awesome country we get to call home! It’s also the perfect day for dressing up in your most stylish red, white, and blue gear. This year, I decided to put together a few looks that put a little twist on fourth of July attire.

Chelsea Crockett - Fourth of July JacketThe first look is the picture on the left. I love this statement jacket that pairs perfectly with a simple outfit! A pair of black shorts and a black tank top is all you need with this jacket. Finish it off with a cute pair of sunglasses and sandals or converse. If you start to feel the heat, roll up your sleeves like she did on the left!

Depending on where you live, it may be too chilly to wear shorts and a cute tank.Chelsea Crockett - Fourth of July Sweater You may need long sleeves or pants. Depending on what events you’re attending on the fourth will determine how festive you’re going to dress. If you’re attending a theme party, why not go all out and get a fun pair of fourth of July leggings?! If you’re just hanging out with friends, try a flag sweater like the one on the right to pair with some jean shorts.

These are just a couple looks for the upcoming holiday! What are you wearing this year? Tell me below!

Dresses are my favorite! I hate having to slide them to the back of my closet once the cold weather and snow start to hit. Of course, bright colors and sun dresses probably need to be retired, but you don’t have to quit wearing dresses completely! Check out my favorite ways to rock a dress in the freezing cold!Chelsea Crockett- over the knee boot

The typical way to wear a dress in the cold without freezing is with tights, boots, and a jacket. While this style is classic and always accepted, there are a few fun ways to ditch the tights! Have you ever heard of over the knee boots?! These are great to throw on with a dress and show just enough skin that you won’t get too cold! Another interesting way to wear a dress in the winter is with a tight pair of skinnies. This works best with a flannel or sweater dress (I would not recommend this with a tight dress).

When it comes to a jacket, my favorites to wear with a dress are a classic leather bomber jacket or long knee coat. Totally depends on your mood! Don’t give your favorite dress the boot too soon…you’ve just gained yourself a few more months!

When the summer humidity takes over, it can be next to impossible to tame your frizzy locks!  It’s such a bummer to spend the time curling or straightening your hair only for it to get ruined!  I’ve got a few great hairstyles that won’t look bad when hit with a little humidity.  It’s time to get familiar with your new favorite summer dos!Chelsea Crockett- humid hair

  • The top knot is the ultimate humidity fighting hair style! It’s meant to look messy, so as pieces start to come out or frizz, it’ll look like it was supposed to be that way!  Try it half-up or all the way up for a cool summer look!
  • A pony tail is always a safe bet when trying to beat humidity, but can often be boring. Spice up the traditional look by loosely braiding one side of your hair and combining it with the other side for a half-braided pony! You can also do this with a low bun!
  • If you want to wear your hair completely down, opt for curls! First apply Moroccan oil to keep your hair smooth before drying and curling it.  Last, apply a humidity fighting hairspray.  Your hair will most likely fall throughout the day, so curl your hair tight for it to last longer.  By the end of the day you should have loose beach waves.
  • A loose side braid is always great for outdoor weather! Try a fishtail or traditional braid to one side and then pull certain pieces to spread out the braid.

Don’t let the summer humidity keep you for embracing your beautiful hair!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Looking back at pictures of my tan skin and lighter hair, winter blues can set in pretty quick. Why not think of some ideas to chase them away? Often during the winter, we sleep more, eat more, and exercise less!  Here are some ways to keep the “winter blues” at bay!

  1. On a sunny day, make the best of it by getting outside to soak in some Vitamin D.  Bundle up, grab your bike, roller blades, running shoes, tennis racquet, etc. (You get the idea!  Use whatever you love!) and go outside to get some exercise.  Just a little time outside can make us dream of those warm sunny days that are just around the corner.
  2. Make an appointment for a facial, pedicure, and/or massage!  It’s always nice to be pampered.  So why not go for it….you deserve it.  I know those appointments can sometimes be expensive.  If that is the case, then call some friends over and look up DIY facials and nail designs.  You pamper a friend and then they pamper you.  Massages are easy with lotion or oil that you already have at home!Chelsea Crockett - Spa Day
  3. Anyone up for a hot tub party?  Make yummy appetizers and fun summer drinks and invite a group of your friends over!  Put on your suits and hop in the hot tub.  If you don’t have a hot tub, maybe one of your friends does.  You and a friend can eat, drink, and soak your blues away!

It won’t be long insiders, spring is just around the corner!  Until then, make the most of your free time by chasing winter melancholy away!

XOXO, Chels

How to Stay Warm without Losing Your Style

When it’s freezing cold outside, the last thing you want to do is leave your warm, cozy house… But when you’re forced out into the harsh weather, you have to be bundled up from head to toe! Despite the falling snow or bitter winds, you’re going to have to find some ultra-warm clothes to keep warm. Sometimes this makes it harder to keep your style and look fashionable (and who knows, maybe you’re going on an ice skating date?)! With that being said, here are some pointers on how to do just that!

  • Maybe you have a light coat that you want to wear but you don’t think it’ll be warm enough. Layer! You can always wear a long-sleeved shirt underneath a sweater and then you’re stylish coat. Or try finding a fleece zip up or something along those lines to rock underneath!
  • Boots are always the key to keeping your feet warm. Find a stylish pair such as snow boots, combat boots, or booties! Depending on how dressy you’re going, you can always wear a think pair of boot socks to stick out of your fashionable boots.Chelsea Crockett - Snow Boots
  • Accessories are the key to any good outfit, no matter what! So, find a cute scarf, hat, or pair of gloves that match your outfit to spice it up.
  • Lastly, find the perfect coat to seal the deal. Instead of a plain fleece jacket, try rocking a pea coat, puffy coat, or even a fleece or fur vest (cause vests are totally in!).

So whatever the frigid occasion may be, ice skating or maybe a Christmas parade, I hope these help you out!

I live in the Midwest, AKA the hottest, most humid place in the world!  It’s important that I stay cool during these crazy hot summer months.  It can become tricky once the thermometer hits 100 degrees, but nevertheless, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve!  Check out a few easy ways to cool off this summer!

  • Fruit is the perfect summer snack! Try freezing fruits like grapes and pineapple before taking them out with you in the sun. Each bite will be icy and help cool you off!Chelsea Crockett- frozen grapes
  • If you tend to get hot at night, try throwing your pillow case in the freezer for an hour or two before going to bed. This will help you beat the summer night sweats!
  • DRINK LOTS OF WATER!
  • If you’re laying out, but don’t have a pool, bring a spray bottle outside with you! Fill the bottle with water and ice and spray it on your body for a quick cool down when the sun gets too hot!
  • Grab an ice cream cone or sno-cone with a group of friends!
  • Large amounts of blood flow through the neck which can be heated up. Try throwing a cold towel around your neck for a quick cool down.
  • Instead of taking your car to the car wash, wash it yourself outside! There’s nothing wrong with running through the hose to keep yourself cooled off as well!

Be sure to stay hydrated this summer!

Hey insiders!

It’s finally bonfire weather, which means big sweaters, s’mores, and memories made with your closest friends.  The weather’s just a little chilly, allowing you to bundle up by the fire and enjoy some apple cider.  Whether you’re going to a bonfire or hosting one, you’re going to need an outfit that’s going to be on fire (not literallyWink).

If the bonfire bash you’re attending is just a small get-together with friends, putting a lot of thought into your outfit isn’t needed.  A big sweatshirt and sweatpants is all you need to keep you warm and comfy while roasting marshmallows.Chelsea Crockett - Over-Sized Sweater Look

If you’re attending more of a party/bonfire, you’ll need a fashionable, yet warm, autumn outfit to wear.  Since over-sized sweaters are a huge trend in the fashion world, they’re perfect to throw on with your favorite pair of leggings.  Pair this with your favorite boots and you’re set.  I prefer combat boots because, in addition to keeping your toes warm, they’re also stylish and edgy.  If you want to accessorize, try wearing a scarf and purse to match.  Even throw on a beanie to make your look trendier.

Of course, you can always take the even dressier route.  Denim and plaid are both two styles that are hot in Hollywood right now.  If you choose to wear either of these patterns, try rocking a long-sleeved button up.  Instead of buttoning it up, leave it open and show off your favorite shirt or V-neck.  As for pants, simply wearing jeans or leggings will work just fine.

Good luck and have fun!

Diy Watermelon Sorbet

It’s summer vacation! Just saying it makes me so happy J. I don’t know about you, but where I live it gets reaaally hot and humid during the summer. I saw this recipe the other day and decided to try it, and I was instantly in love! Today I am going to teach you how to make a super cool, refreshing, and healthy treat for those days when you can’t seem to cool down!

exps32576_CW952730D46

What is this treat I am describing? Watermelon sorbet of course! This is how you make it:

 You will need:

                        3 cups of watermelon
¼ cup lemon or lime juice

                        ½ cup water

                        ¼ cup sugar

                        A blender

What you do:

A couple hours (I recommend 3 or 4) before you plan to make the sorbet, cut up your watermelon into chunks. Put them in a large Ziploc bag and then put the bag in your freezer. Try and lay the bag flat and spread the watermelon evenly so they freeze faster. Next, after your watermelon has been freezing for 3 or 4 hours, boil the water, sugar, and lemon or lime juice until the sugar has dissolved. Then let this mixture cool to room temperature. Next, put your frozen watermelon and water mixture into your blender and blend it up! Make sure you blend it until it is a smooth consistency and there are no chunks. After that, pour your mixture into the bowl or container you will be serving or storing it in. Put this container in the freezer for another 2 hours, just to make sure your mixture is nice and firm before you serve it. Viola! Delicious, healthy relief from the summer heat. You can eat this sweet treat without feeling guilty because it has barely any sugar and it is all fruit!

watermelon-sorbet-sl-1634658-l

Just a quick tip for serving: if you are having a hard time scooping the sorbet, run your         spoon under warm water before scooping it out.

Comment and tell me how yours turns out!

XOXO, Chels
