In the mind of a bride planning her wedding day, a million and one things are whirling around in your head. Where do I get married; when do I get married; how do I break down the guest list? Planning my wedding was definitely stressful to say the least, but I couldn’t have done it without the help of my wedding planner and vendors. Each of them played a very important role in making my dreams a reality, but I would love to talk about how Shine Wedding Invitations made the ordering my wedding programs a breeze.

Chelsea Crockett - Shine Wedding Invitations

First things first – when I was looking for my wedding accessories, I really wanted something that was clean and simple, nothing that was overly trendy, and I wanted to be able to look back on my stationery and have it look truly timeless. Bouncing from shop to shop, online and off, I just couldn’t find what I was looking for. One day I came across an ad for this beautiful company that exemplified all the things I was looking for in my wedding programs. After browsing through their easily navigable website, which breaks down exactly what you’re looking for, I choose their Ophelia wedding invitation design. I was immediately drawn to it for the calligraphy printed on the front, as it was just so organic in a sophisticated way.

With all the planning that still needed to be done, I placed my order right away! The process was very simple and all I had to do was choose my quantities, colors, and printing style. Once I entered in my bridal party, ceremonial information, and any other notes I wanted to be included in the order, all I had to do was check out. I got an email shortly after thanking me and letting me know that my designer would be in touch within 2 business days – so now all I had to do was patiently wait for the proofs!

Shine works very quickly and I actually received an email with my proofs before the 2 business days were even up! My designer, Sarah, sent me various options of the wedding programs to choose from, since I wanted both our first and last names to be included on the intro page. She was very responsive and informative to my requests and if I wanted to talk over the phone, she gave me a call. Everything was just so easy that it allowed me to dedicate other time to other projects in preparation for one of the most exciting days of my life. When I was ready to submit my final approval and start the printing process, all I needed to do was go over the very thorough PDF checklist and hit “approve,” and in no time my order began production.

Due to time restraints, I had my stationery expedited with Shine’s 2 business days UPS mailing service, which arrived right on time for my wedding day! I can’t even say how thankful I am for the quick and easy process at Shine Wedding Invitations – I couldn’t have done it without them! If you want to check them out for yourselves, please visit their wedding invitation website, as you can’t go wrong!

Love, Chelsea

Find Joy in the Journey

I was recently asked “How are you staying so calm during this wedding planning process?” There are a few things that are helping me keep my cool. One is that I have a lot of help, and another is that I have resolved to find joy in the journey. I want to soak up this season of life and really make the most of it! So, how am I doing that?

  1. Avoiding comparison. I think it is so important to focus on what I want my wedding to look like and be like instead of comparing it to others. We’ve all seen those “Pinterest perfect” weddings, and it is so fun to dream! It can also be discouraging when you actually start to plan and find out how much everything really costs, and you have to be realistic. Your wedding is just that – YOURS! So, if you don’t get that picture perfect venue or dream cake like you’ve seen in the movies or on Instagram, that’s ok. Find joy in the things that you ARE able to have, like the people you love surrounding you.
  2. Celebrating every day’s successes. There are bound to be setbacks during the planning process, so keeping that in mind has been helpful. There have also been unexpected victories! I try and focus on the wonderful “celebrations” that happen each day, even if it is something as simple as choosing the color of the groomsmen’s socks. That is one less thing I have to do, and one more thing I can check off the list!
  3. Thinking positively. Our thoughts have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves and how we feel our lives are going. Negative thoughts are like weeds that can take over and suffocate out all of the beauty of the moment. By thinking positively and spinning the negatives to seem more positive, my outlook on my wedding day has been one of joy instead of stress.
  4. Stop questioning. Once I make a decision, I lock it up and throw away the key. I am not doing myself any favors if I am questioning my decisions and keep circling back to the same things. Did I pick the right bridesmaid dress color? Will the guests like the food we chose? Will they have fun? The answers are YES, so no need to go back and fret about it.

Most of all, I remember that “The joy of the Lord is your strength”(Nehemiah 8:10). As this season of wedding planning comes to a close, I will continue to choose to find joy in the journey that God has put before me, and I pray that you will do the same in whatever season you find yourself in.

Spring and summer are totally wedding season, and they are knocking at our door! Believe it or not, some of us will be on Spring Break at this time next month! Crazy, right? Anyway, like I was saying, wedding season is almost here, which means you need some wedding wear rules to follow. Here they are:

  1. Never wear white to a wedding…EVER: Don’t even wear ivory or champagne, it is too close for comfort to white! Save What-to-wear-fall-wedding-2013your white dresses for other spring and summer gatherings and let the bride stand out in her dazzling white dress.
  2. Keep it classy: Showing too much skin is a major no-no. No matter how great your legs are looking, you want to keep the attention on the bride, not your toned tush. That being said, you can wear something that flatters your figure! Just don’t go overboard.
  3. Better to overdress than underdress: Flip flops= not okay! You will have plenty of opportunities to wear your favorite plastic Old Navy flip flops and comfy cutoffs this spring and summer, so keep them away from weddings! Also, jeans and tank tops are a definite “no.”
  4. Be confident: Although it is not “your day,” that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the heck out of it!

I just love weddings, don’t you?

How to Dress for a Summer Wedding!

Ahhhh wedding bliss!  Don’t you just love watching two people who are madly in love with each other getting married?!  It’s such a beautiful thing!  With the summer months finally here, you may notice a lot of weddings coming up.  So how exactly should you dress for a summer wedding?  I’ve got all the “dos” and “don’ts”.

The number one rule when dressing for a wedding is that the bride wears white, not you!  Stay away from any white dresses, skirts, or pants you may be thinking about wearing.  It’s the brides color!  Also, remember that a wedding is a family affair.  Do not wear a dress that is too short or tight, heels that you cannot walk in, or anything revealing.Chelsea Crockett- summer wedding guest dresses

When dressing for a summer wedding, it’s okay to play around with color!  Try wearing a bright floral or hot pink dress!  I always recommend a sundress for a wedding, because it’s cute and classy.  Also, try a pair of wedges.  They are easy to walk in and the most comfortable kind of heels.  You will want these once you start dancing the night away!  To finish your look, grab a clutch and throw on some lipstick!

Hope your summer is filled with beautiful weddings!

XOXO,

Chelsea

The summer months are usually packed with weddings! I love weddings, because I love to dress cute and get all dolled up! Here are three sweet outfits that are perfect to wear to any wedding this summer!

  1. For a casual wedding: If the wedding you are attending is more casual, cute lace shorts and a sheer sleeveless blouse are sure to do the trick! Pair these items with a cute pair of wedge sandals and some pretty bangles to top of the look.
  2. For a dressy wedding: For this wedding, you can slip on a sweet cap sleeved, tailored dress. Choose a cheery, summer colored dress. Add in a chic statement necklace, cute pumps, and an adorable clutch!1d77cbc8afeca307ad96d8f969071d9d
  3. A mix between casual and dressy: This outfit is for the wedding that you have no clue what to wear to. If you aren’t sure whether to go dressy or casual, then a lovely lace sundress is always a safe bet! Choose a lace dress that is in a sweet summery color, because everyone always says not to wear white to a wedding! Pair this dress with a nude or brown pair of wedge sandals and a statement watch!

Be the cutest wedding guest anyone has ever seen this summer! Rock one of these adorable ensembles!
