Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her.” –  Luke 1:45

Think about all of the women in the Bible who had incredible things happen in their lives, like Mary Jesus’s mother, and Sarah, who had a baby in her nineties. What would have happened if they would not have believed in the power of the Lord?

Mary was just a girl living a simple life, engaged to a guy named Joseph. Then, all of a sudden, she is told that she will be the mother of the Savior of the world. An angel shares with her that she has been chosen by the Lord to complete this enormous task. This promise is not anything any human could ever bestow upon another human, it is completely Heaven-driven. In spite of her fear and confusion, Mary believes the promise she has been given by her God. As a result, she is one of the most blessed women among those in the Bible.

Luke 1:45 applies to each and every woman everywhere. It simply tells us that when God speaks and gives us a promise, we believe and are blessed. Sounds simple, but believing can be the most difficult part of this equation. It goes against our human nature to throw reason out the window and believe things will happen when the world tells us they won’t. But, as the verse tells us, if we believe, we will be blessed among women. We can hold onto that promise when we struggle to believe we are who God says we are, and struggle to believe the promises he has placed in our hearts.

Do you ever struggle to understand His promises? Like, how can He make this happen when it seems impossible? We want to believe they will happen, but we can’t understand how they actually will. But, what if we dropped our questions and just believed? What if we believed he could do anything, and do it through US? Women are incredible creatures. Even when we are a crazy mess, he can use us. God brought the Savior into the world through a woman. Just like Mary, he can create beautiful things through all of us.

God speaks amazing promises into our lives, and if we are bold enough to believe Him, we will be blessed.

Lessons to Learn from Women of the Bible

Did you know there are over 3,200 characters talked about in the Bible, and that only a select few of these named characters are actually women? Crazy, right?

Despite the fact that these women weren’t brought into the spotlight as much as others doesn’t defeat their purpose in the Bible. There are so many lessons and advice that we can take from these women that are just as important as the characters that we hear about time and time again!

MARY

Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, is an amazing woman who feared the Lord and followed his plan for her life whole-heartedly. When she discovered that she would soon become pregnant, while unmarried to Joseph, she was terrified. A pregnant, unmarried woman in that society could risk being put to death.

No matter the risk that came along with giving birth to Jesus, she put her faith and trust in God and did just what He asked of her.

We can all learn from Mary’s actions. She risked people shaming and shunning her, she risked what Joseph would think of her, she risked the uncertainties that would come with childbirth… But she did just what God asked no matter what the future held. We should have this same faith in the plan that God has for our own lives!

ANNA

Although not as well-known as Mary when we consider women of the Bible, Anna stands out to me. As a young woman, she lost her husband at an early age. Instead of blaming God for her misfortune, he became her number one companion, always talking to Him, praising Him, and worshipping Him.

In her older years, she actually had an encounter with Mary and Joseph, and baby Jesus. After seeing them at the temple, “she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.” She was faithful, loyal, and not afraid to tell of the gospel she was so excitedly waiting for.

EVE

I think we all know the story of Adam and Eve. God told the two that they could eat from any tree in the entire Garden of Eden, except for the tree that God forbid them. After being tempted by the devil, Eve took a bite of an apple from the forbidden tree, bringing sin into the world.

We can all relate to Eve a little more than we think. We never plan on falling into temptation or deliberately going against what God says. But at the end of the day, the devil makes us all stumble, without us even realizing it at times. Be firm in your faith and on high alert for when temptation is around!

Although these are only a few lessons you can take away from the Bible, there are SO many more from so many other women! The Bible tells us these stories so we can learn from their actions, their mistakes, their trials, etc. We should always be continually learning from the past, especially when these lessons can strengthen our spiritual lives!

Dive into the Word and see what other lessons you can learn from those who were living right alongside Jesus!

5 Verses Every Woman Should Know

One of the coolest things about the Bible is that there’s a verse or passage for almost any situation you could be going through. I know for me, I always stumble upon the right verse at the right time.

There are so many verses in the Bible that talk about the strength of a godly woman and how God fulfills his promises to those that are faithful. These five verses especially are good reminders of how much God loves us and how he wants us to view ourselves!

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” – Proverbs 31:25

God reminds us who we are and how he sees us through his eyes. Especially in the book of Proverbs, the Bible talks about a godly woman who puts her faith and hope in Jesus Christ. In Proverbs 31:25, the Bible talks about a woman who is strong, bold, and confident in the Lord and her future. It’s one of my favorite verses to remind myself of daily.

“Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.” – Luke 1:45

When we talk to God, we shouldn’t be sitting around and wondering if he’s listening. When we trust fully in God and put our faith in him, he will fulfill his promises. A woman of great faith and trust is truly blessed by Christ.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalms 139:14

When you’re feeling low or down on yourself, read this verse as many times as you have to. YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made. God created you in his image, and all of his creations are made without flaw, including you! It’s a verse that brings me peace knowing that the creator of the universe wonderfully created me, too.

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is in vain. But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” – Proverbs 31:30

To fear the Lord doesn’t mean to be scared of the Lord. It means to be aware of his authority over our lives, and to fear his judgement and power. When we submit to him and what he wants for our lives, the best is yet to come. God’s plan is so much better than ours, we just have to trust in him!

“God is within her, she will not fail.” – Psalm 46:5

This verse doesn’t say she might fail or she could possibly fail. It says she will not fail, which is something we can put our trust in and a promise that God reassures us with. Things fall apart so better things can fall together. So, if you think you’ve failed, see how God uses that to lead to something so much better.

Meditate on these verses and memorize them if you have to! Knowing God’s scripture and having them ready in your head to think back on is always helpful. Are you scared for an important opportunity coming up? Remember Psalm 46:5. Are you feeling low and down on yourself? Remember Psalms 139:14.

There is something in the Bible for every situation you could be going through! You just have to search for it. 🙂

Growing up, I’ve been fortunate enough to have multiple role models and godly women to look up to in my life.

I’ve witnessed the way they speak to others, the way they not only talk the talk but walk the walk, and the way they carry themselves daily. It’s something I’ve always taken notice of and want to apply to my own life.

I thought about the characteristics and qualities about these women that make them stand out among the rest. There are 5 habits in particular that are not only backed up by scripture but easy to apply to your own life!

  1. She puts God above all else.

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.”

Putting God before school, relationships, our own desires, and so much more is so important. Once we learn to put God as our highest priority, everything else falls into place.

  1. She makes time for herself.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Setting apart time for yourself and for God is something you need to do in order to grow closer to Him and find out who you are in Christ!

Set apart a half an hour a day or more to give your undivided attention to God. It’s important to discover your true identity in Christ and in Christ alone!

  1. She treats her body like a temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.

Ladies! We should learn to respect ourselves and our bodies. God created us so uniquely and perfectly, and we should use our bodies to honor Him! What an amazing way to glorify him and his creations.

  1. She’s content in her singleness.

1 Corinthians 7:32,35 says, “I would like you to be free from concern… I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.”

Oftentimes, singleness is made out to be such a bad thing. But when we’re single and focusing solely on ourselves, we can work on self-growth and strengthening our relationship with God!

Consider it a gift. For most of us, there’s only so many years left of true singleness. Take advantage of them and be truly content in the waiting!

  1. She practices selflessness.

Philippians 2:4 says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

When we learn to put the needs of others before our own desires, our attitude completely changes. We learn to extend a hand and help those we never thought we could’ve.

What other habits have you noticed in the lives of godly women? There are so many more qualities and characteristics that you can take note of to adapt to your own life!

Practice each of these habits daily and see what God does in your life!

Ladies, our time of the month is never fun.  It’s annoying, painful, and sometimes we even have to plan things around it!  It’s just a part of life that we have to deal with.  That being said, there are certain things we can do to make them a little less awful!  Here are 5 hacks that will make you think differently about your period.

  • Buy a heating pad.  Heating pads work wonders when it comes to cramps. Chelsea Crockett - Exercise I suggest getting one that doesn’t have a cord so you don’t have to deal with the hassle.  Most are microwavable so they’re quick and easy!
  • Cut out the caffeine.  Caffeine can cause your body to retain more water which will make your bloating worse than it already is.
  • Start taking Advil/Ibuprofen two days before your period starts.  Your body starts releasing hormones a couple days before your period actually begins.  Stay ahead of all of the cramps and pain!
  • Exercise, exercise, exercise.  When you work out, your body releases hormones called endorphins that make your body feel good.  They work on canceling out the bad hormones from your period!
  • Go to bed early.  Periods often cause fatigue which leads to long, tiresome days.  A little extra sleep is never a bad idea!

Let me know what hacks you use for when you’re on your period!
