Get Up, Go Outside, and Be Happy!

Nature is one of God’s most wonderful gifts!   It’s all around you, so why not take advantage of it?  It’s easier to be happy when you’re outside in the warm sun and cool breeze.  It’s much better than being stuck indoors!  Whenever possible, get up and go outside!  I promise it’ll make all the difference.

Your body recognizes when it’s outdoors and indoors.  Greenness, water, plants, and sun are proven to relax the body.  It does some good for the mind, body, and soul.  Just a few minutes outside a day can reset the body and reduce stress.  It’s also a great way to get vitamin D, which can be produced naturally in the body through sunlight exposure.  Vitamin D aids in a healthy immune system, helps us keep a healthy weight, prevents cancer, and can reduce inflammation.  It’s so important to be out in the sun!

Another benefit of being outdoors is your endurance!  When working out, it’s easier to run farther when you have beautiful surroundings to look at.  It’s a sort of distraction!  Try going for a Chelsea Crockett- run outsidelonger run than usual throughout a park or neighborhood or do pull-ups on a tree branch.  You can even do your ab work in the nice open field of green grass.  Your mind won’t even realize how hard your body is working!

I hope you’ll make an effort to spend more time outdoors.  Your body will thank you for it!

Love,

Working out can be tough.  It’s not only tough physically, but it’s really hard sometimes to fit it into your schedule.  With busy lives, sleeping in and hanging out with friends sounds like a lot more fun than working out when you have free time.  Surprisingly, working out CAN be fun!  I’m going to give you a few simple tips to pass the time while you work out.

  • Listen to music!

Chelsea Crockett- runningMy favorite thing to do while on a run is to listen to music.  It puts me in a pumped up mood!  Create a “Workout Playlist” with energetic music to get you feeling upbeat during your run.  Every 3 or 4 minutes, you will get to enjoy a new song, which will keep you going.

  • Go outside!

Running on a treadmill can get old.  Although the air conditioning is nice, the run can feel longer than it really is.  Running outside and being around nature will put you in a better mood and make running seem shorter.  You won’t have to run in place.  Go explore!

  • Change up your routine!

Doing the same workout every day is extremely boring.  When you change up your routine, there is something new to look forward to each day.  Change your running route, go to the park, a school, or run the streets for a new experience each time!  Do arm, abs, and leg workouts on different days, so you don’t over work one muscle group.

Working out is SO good for you, so get off the couch and go run!  Following these simple tips will make working out a little more enjoyable.  Get going Insiders!!!

If you checked out my last video, you know it was all about staying fit over the holidays! One important component when you are exercising is the music you listen to! You want your music to pump you up and inspire you to push yourself.  For me, the person that gets me going and ready to rock is Lecrae!

One reason I love to work out to Lecrae’s music is because it doesn’t have any vulgar or inappropriate language. His lyrics are a

ll about his walk with God and the challenges he faces regarding his faith, unlike mainstream rappers who talk about sex, drugs, and everything else under the sun. His songs are perfect to work out to because they are upbeat and have great rhythm!  If you like rap music but hate the words they use and the subject of their songs, then check out Lecrae! His music is so catchy! My workout group and I listen to his music all the time when we work out, and we feel like it makes us work even harder! Check him out on YouTube or iTunes next time you need some workout music you can feel good about listening to!

Get off the couch and get moving!

I have been working out a lot lately. Exercising can be so rewarding, but you also need to keep in mind a few tips on how to get more from your workout. You don’t want all of your hard work to be in vain! Here are 5 tips for a better workout:

 1. Make it a routine: Once you get a routine down, it is much easier for you to keep your workouts up! Look at your schedule and pick a few set days a week that you will work out and don’t schedule anything for those days and times that you know you will be working out.

2. Get enough sleep: When you get enough sleep, you have the energy and motivation to keep working out! Also, when you get enough sleep your muscles have time to recover from your workouts, and your body is also much healthier when you get enough sleep.chelsea crockett working out

3. Eat well: As my PE teacher would say, abs are made in the kitchen! Getting in shape is 80% what you eat and only 20% exercise. Also, drink tons of water!

4. Get a work out buddy: When you have a workout buddy, they also work as your accountability partner and personal trainer. They will motivate you during your workout and you can both come up with ideas for the kinds of exercises you will do. Working out is so much more fun with friends!

5. Don’t lose faith: If you aren’t seeing results instantly, don’t give up! It takes a while for you to be able to see results, but you will FEEL the results instantly! You will have so much more energy and just feel happier! It is amazing what endorphins can do!

Keep the faith and keep those bodies movin’!
