Our younger years are some of the most impactful years of our lives. We are constantly developing and changing into the people we’re meant to become!

That being said, there are so many pieces of advice that I imagine God wanting us to know. I always ask God what he wants me to learn from the situations he puts me in. Throughout my younger years, I’ve learned some advice that I think God would want you all to know, as well!

  1. These are your biggest years for spiritual growth, take advantage of them.

One of my older friends told me this once, and it really stuck with me. These truly are the years that we’re constantly changing and developing into who God created us to be. Use them wisely, and take every opportunity to learn, experience, and grow!

  1. It’s okay to be single!

I cannot stress this enough! Society puts such a negative sigma around singleness that should’ve never been put there in the first place! Consider your singleness as a blessing, and spend your free time getting closer to God.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people.

When we’re young, this is so important. Like I mentioned above, these are some of the most impactful and influential years of our life! Who you surround yourself with is oftentimes a reflection of who you are becoming.

  1. Don’t forget who you are.

Growing up, it’s easy to lose sight of who you are and who you aspire to be. When you’re surrounded by so many different people, influence and temptation quickly creeps in, sometimes without you even realizing it. Focus on who YOU are and who YOU want to become!

  1. Go to God for guidance.

It’s so easy for us to go to the people around us for guidance and advice, but we should first be going to God. He knows our past, present, and future and wants so badly for us to turn to him.

  1. Look at the bigger picture.

There are too many times when we let even the smallest of problems get us down. We waste so many tears on the things that won’t even matter in a week! Look at the bigger picture of life!

  1. Take care of your body.

We need to take care of ourselves, not just physically but mentally and emotionally, too. God wants us to rest. He literally devoted an entire day to relaxing and spending time with Him! Let your brain take a rest and go to Him! Your brain needs to be refreshed every once in a while.

  1. Patience, patience, patience.

Growing up, I wish I would’ve known just how important patience really is. The Bible stresses the importance of patience over and over again, yet we still lose sight of it far too often. Continue to think before you speak or act, and let God move through you.

  1. Be slow to anger.

Keeping your temper can be hard at times, especially when you’re still maturing and learning how to handle conflict. The Bible says to be slow to anger and to be patient, bearing with one another in love. Like I said, always think before you speak and never let yourself go to bed angry!

  1. Forget the past.

The only way to move forward is to stop looking behind you. God wants us to know how forgiving and merciful He is. We don’t have to hold on to the things that have already happened! We need to know our sins are wiped cleaned and thrown into the sea of forgetfulness.

Remember these things throughout your younger years. God’s way is always the best way!
