Prayer journaling is one of my favorite things to do no matter what mood I’m in. Am I feeling thankful? I prayer journal. Am I feeling upset or looking for guidance? I prayer journal! There is more power in this simple act than you realize. It can reveal things to you that you never saw before!
Write a list of blessings, big or small, that you want to thank God for.
If you don’t know what to journal about, write about all the good things in your life! No matter how big or small, think of the things you’re grateful for. Pointing out the good in your life not only gives the praise to God but will boost your mood and gratitude!
Take a deep look at your heart. What has been weighing heavily on it recently?
It can be so therapeutic to write things down and get them off your chest. Sometimes writing things down makes them feel more real, which could be the first step in forgiving yourself and moving on. I know for me, simply writing out my guilt and shame for me and God’s eyes only gives me a sense of relief. You may be experiencing feelings of anxiety or sadness, and writing them down can help you understand yourself and what you’re going through.
In what areas of your life have you been seeking guidance in? Write them down and ask God to lead you.
If there’s one thing that God does perfectly, it’s leading us down the path he has planned for us. I like asking God for guidance in most situations in my life, to make sure I’m doing what he knows is best. If you listen to God’s still small voice, he can help you with what may seem like even the smallest of decisions.
Write a list of things you would like to see happen in the new year.
2020 is right around the corner and you know what that means… making those infamous resolutions lists we all try to stick to! This year, make your list in your prayer journal so you can be in prayer over them. Maybe you want to see a change happen in your relationship or a career shift you’ve been waiting for, write them down and pray over them!
Have you been feeling fearful or worrisome lately? Write down things your anxious about and ask God for peace.
The Bible tells us not to be anxious over anything, but by prayer, give our requests to God. This is just what prayer journaling is. We can write down each fear or worry that fills our mind and give them to God. He wants us to lay them at the foot of the cross so we can be filled with joy and peace!
