Stress, anxiety, worry… You name it. Everyone deals with it no matter how peaceful and content of a person you may be. Whether your worries are big or small, God wants you to cast your cares on him.

In any and every situation, my first instinct is to always go to the Bible. It’s the place that gives me peace, security, and guidance.

Stress is a real issue. If you let it take over, it can lead you to a place that’s hard to get out of. I want to remind you of some verses that help calm me down when stress keeps me up at night.

John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I think we so often forgot that the world likes to trick us. The world tells us we’re not okay while God tells us there are better days coming. It makes us question the “what ifs” while God gives us the hope of tomorrow.

God gives us his peace. His everlasting, perfect, calming peace. He surrounds us with love and dismisses our fears. When he says to trust him, we should surrender it all to him without doubts or second thoughts.

Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I’ve said this a lot and I’ll always stand by it: the key to joy is praise. When we take control of our thoughts and push them toward gratefulness, praise, and gratitude, our anxiety becomes a distant memory. Focus on the good and your mind won’t have room for the bad.

If you’ve never kept a prayer journal, I encourage you to. Write a list of all the things you consider blessings in your life. It can be something as small as the nice weather outside or as big as the promotion you just got at work. If it’s a blessing from God, write it down!

This small, simple act can guide your mind away from stress and leave you with a sense of peace. When we realize all the good in our lives, Satan no longer has a hold on us!

Lastly, I wanted to share a verse with you that leaves my heart in a state of overwhelming peace every time I read it.

Isaiah 54:10 says, “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”

No matter how many times life tries to shake you, remember the verse above. Think of what your mountains are that cause you the most stress and anxiety. Pray that God moves those mountains and gives you his unfailing love and peace. He is always with you every step of the way!
